Derin Report post Posted March 11, 2006 First, I would check to see if Norton blocks or filters port 2000 (a known issue). Second, I would update the video drivers (if you haven't done so already). Third, do you really need all those programs running? You might want to consider turning them off and see if EL runs better. If ok add programs one by one and maybe you have the cause there. industrikitty Report post Posted March 12, 2006 Sorry.. posted before I was ready. The solution I found was to update my version of OpenGL. This can either be done through your graphics card provider's site, or searching on your own. I'd recommend the first one. Also, searching google for your card plus the problem often yields a solution.

Usually the OpenGL implementation is found in the drivers... hence why we recommend making sure they are the latest. Did you have to find a seperate download for OpenGL, and if so, what are the details of your machine (OS and graphics card) so I can keep them in mind for the future. I have WinXP and an nVIDIA GeForce 4 Ti 4600 graphics card. For me, downloading their newest drivers did nothing to fix the problem. I had to update OpenGL myself, and then download GeForceTweak to actually check my settings. To view which version OpenGL I had, I used this tool. The version the GeForce drivers/WinXP comes with is 1.1, or at least was in my case. I just spent about two solid days researching the web and calling places (calling nVIDIA cost $25 per call, so that was completely out). Then using GeForceTweak, I just messed with the settings until one worked. I still have a few bugs, like random colours flashing on screen and lags, but it's at least playable. I'm currently in the process of re-downloading EL after all this, but the server that hosts the download is currently down. I'll post again once I download and check. Derin Report post Posted March 12, 2006 For Nvidia drivers: Driver Installation Hints "Download Accelerator" utilities should be disabled when downloading any drivers. Do not run virus protection software in the background while installing the drivers. This prevents the driver from configuring itself properly. Before installing new drivers make sure you uninstall all NVIDIA display drivers from the Windows Control Panel. Browse to the Start Menu > Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and search for "NVIDIA Windows Display Drivers" or "NVIDIA Display Drivers" and select remove. You should get thse drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_81.98.html Which includes: Microsoft® DirectX® 9.0c and OpenGL® 2.0 support Which also means that you could/should update your DirectX if you haven't done so: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...a1-914185249413

Derin Report post Posted March 12, 2006 There is a thread about graphics cards: http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=13060 For ATi RADEON: Notes: ATI recommends Windows XP Service Pack 2 or higher to be installed. You must have Microsoft .NET Framework installed prior to downloading and installing the Catalyst Control Center The Catalyst Uninstaller is an optional download. We recommend using this utility to uninstall any previously installed Catalyst drivers prior to installation. For Windows XP, see: https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default...dge&folderID=
