Razia Report post Posted June 13, 2005 (edited) Ballad of the Red Moon War by Razia The red moon lights the sky Trembling earth's warning unheeded Till the shrill of a sleeper's cry o AWAKENED! o What tragic call to arms Gargoyles swarmed from Vermor Castle Luxin's soldiers shouted alarms Goblins too; all darkness' host Oger's midst the titanium mine The demons of Tahraji's savage coast Portland threatened, then overrun! Till brave warriors make their stand And when we thought all had been won... Cave Trolls strike the crystal cave! The slaughter of miners, innocents all Made many a mournful grave The warriors of the dwarven valley Three invasions did repel And then.... Mortos' grand finale! Kilaran Fields became a Hell Of Chimeran Wolves all running free Blood and fangs of darkness' spell Do not forget the fighters, brave or coward Do not forget the innocents who fell Do not forget the victims, devoured Do not forget, though all is well Though all the monsters are as before And the sky is beautiful clear Yet be on guard For darkness favors war And Mortos still holds influence here As I sung it at the beam's bonfire 07-07-0003 Edited October 29, 2006 by Roja
kalhan Report post Posted June 16, 2005 Very nice ballad. I really enjoyed it. I am writing a poem on the war myself from a rivan point of view and was looking for the right thing to call this war and think you have named it just the right thing. Will refer to it as the red moon war myself if you do not mind.
Razia Report post Posted June 16, 2005 I don't mind at all (:
Lyanna Report post Posted July 7, 2005 I really like your style, Razia. I'm presuming you're deliberately writing it in that way, since it's a ballad. There's only one thing to change: "Luxin's Soldier's shouterd alarms" --> "Luxin's soldiers shouted alarms" But the thing about "shouterd" may sound better, even though it's not a real word. If this was deliberate on your part, then we'll leave the shouterd in. But the "soldiers" would still have to change, though. -Lyn-
Razia Report post Posted July 12, 2005 I'm not one to make purposeful grammar and spelling errors like those. Thanks for the catch, changes made and sorry it took so long. I was on a bit of a hiatus.
Lyanna Report post Posted July 12, 2005 Right. Okay, stamped ready for conversion to XML. We'll publish this in the usual WSC and PL libraries. (And maybe a scroll lying somewhere in KF, if someone can find one, please...). Actually, this would be best in bot-bard form. Are any of the bards still around and working? -Lyn-
Quinticus Report post Posted July 12, 2005 (edited) Converted to XML. Trying to get in touch with mihaim to gain access to a test server in order for us to do just that. Test to make sure we are getting things right. I went into map editor and looked around KF, found books--but no scrolls. Acelon Report post Posted July 12, 2005 (edited) Browsed KF as well...no scrolls I could find. However there will be an inside map added for one of the towers. Inside is a paper . The paper is a news paper but I'm sure that could work somehow. Edit: Lyanna, you keep saying WSC and PL libraries but don't forget you have the Tirnwood house of records and the Magic School library too Edited July 12, 2005 by Lord_Vermor
Acelon Report post Posted July 12, 2005 One more thing... Killaren Fields became a Hell Its spelled Kilaran Fields. You may want to change that before making it a book.
Lyanna Report post Posted July 13, 2005 (edited) TG magic school I wanted to keep for "academic" records, like "On the Properties of Ethereal Matter Units", religious texts, documents, etc. Tirnwood would feature more race-specific lore and perhaps certain stories about skills. I'm keeping it as a backup. WSC and PL are for general reading, focusing more on biographies, histories and poetry (which are pretty much all that have been written, so far). -Lyn- P.S. *slaps forehead* I can't believe I missed Kilaran... Acelon Report post Posted July 14, 2005 I added a scroll to the KF map for the update.
Quinticus Report post Posted July 15, 2005 (edited) Can you provide coordinates? i don't know that i'll need them, but whomever does the .def files prolly will. Thanks by the way, i appreciate it. I'm sure razia will too! Oh BTW I used this as the test book for the test server today on the local side. It looked spectacular. The fonts on the paper (it wasn't a book background) looked awesome!
