Borus Report post Posted May 4, 2005 It would be really cool if EL could have a music upload, like if you have saved songs on windows media player you can upload them on to EL. It would be really cool because running el and wmp really slows el down!
Derin Report post Posted May 4, 2005 See the music section for further information on music in Eternal lands.
Borus Report post Posted May 4, 2005 I know but there are no uploaders in-game so you can upload e.g Metallica or something.
ttlanhil Report post Posted May 4, 2005 what do you mean by upload? send them to the server? or play them through EL? if the problem is WMP taking up too much computer power, then get another player and that problem is solved. WinAmp is one example. The music area also has instructions on making a playlist so EL will play your own music, but that won't be as easy, and less control
Lachesis Report post Posted May 4, 2005 All music in EL is, of course, played by the client. The audio files can be found in the EL data directory. Thus, there is no need for uploading any files. Of course it would be possible to integrate a player for music files into the client, but that's just overburdening it with secondary tasks. If your player is slowing EL down too much, this can have two reasons: CPU load and memory consumption. In the former case, playing the sound in the client wouldn't result in a change, it would still slow down as much. In the latter case, it's probably best using a more lightweight media player, maybe a command line tool that only can play a restricted set of data formats such as mpg123 on Linux. With regards Lachesis P.S. (Talks to herself) Eeek, 500 posts? Did I really write a hundred posts in less than a week? Guess I'll be banned for spamming soon
