Problem with shadowmapping (new card)

Recommended Posts

ok, ive got 2 computers:

1:

amd athlon XP 1600+

640mb DDR pc2100

radeon9600pro 256mb DDR

2:

amd athlon tbr 2800+

1024mb DDR pc3200

radeonX800XT 256mb DDR3

On nr.1 i get aprox 50 fps with reflection/clouds And shaddowmapping enabled. On nr.1 on other hand, i get less than 4 fps the sec i turn on shadomapped shadows..

and i had the gfx card from computer 1 in computer 2 up untill recently, and when i had that, i got aproc 50-70 fps by molgor a crowded day, now i get 20-40 fps. Ive got the latest drivers (openGL version: 1.5.4830) and all other games works just fine. Besides from this problem, im also experiencing alot of texturebugs (blue/white/black lines showing up on various textures after some time in game..) (got another thread discussing that problem)

the temp of the card is just fine (running on aprox 50c in EL and 30 in windows..)

anyone got ny clue what this could be all about?

Do you get this problem with some other GL application?

I would really suspect hardware problem.

Try to find someone with the same gfx card model, swap and see if that helps. Then you'll be sure ;)

Maybe your computer seller can help you?

Well.. Half Life 2 and doom 3 runs perfectly on this system.. only thing ive experienced problems with so far is EL.. :(

Well, Half-Life 2 doesn't use shadow mapping, it uses projective shadows... or so I've been told... As for Doom 3, I don't know...
