Ways to get food... *You can sell furs and raw meat to the tavern and use the gold to buy food there. *You can now take raw meat and place it in the fire just NE of the Tavern using the fist icon. (This is a new and exciting addition to the game.) *There is a bread spawn on the West side of the island... ask for help finding it in local chat or the newbie channel. *And later when your Harvest level is higher you can gather your own fruits and vegetables...
