Ciara claps Rogue: ok Rogue: thankx buffy buffy: ur welcome sir Rogue: who wants to speak next ? zoin: i do Rogue: captain . on stage Captain: thanks sir Captain: firstly i would like to say nice changes to EL Captain: but there are a few flaws.... Captain: the interface i have to comment on, it is too many clicks to get what you want as someone said before me Captain: i also would like the resources to be lowered peb: I would like to speak Captain: i have to travel for ages to get resources to make different things and the amount to make 1 item such as iron bar is too high i think Captain: that is all i wish, i hope you can do something Roja: Ok, i'lllcomment on that Captain: thank you sir Rogue: ok . thx brade: ' radu: The game is open source, you can change the interface as you please Rogue: Roja will be next Roja: Firts, we're working on the interface. i want it to be as intuitive as possible. I've used many different programs myself and have found that the best/fastest Roja: working ones are ones that share keyboard and mouse - hotkeys Roja: So, if those who are having a problem with the mouse cursors can please do some tests for me. please configure your hotkeys, see if it can work for you..and t Roja: then, post your experiences with which ones work best for what. Roja: maybe it won't work, but please, try it. Roja: another reaons i'm suggesting this is, all the newer games today-morrowind, etc...also use the hotkeys Roja: so i think EL should take advantage of this Roja: in the next update, there will also be a HELP menu/window added to the icons at the bottom Alex1105: i do Roja: you will click on that and see a list of hotkeys, and other help related info, mainly for newbies so they can get used to the interface Roja: that's all i have to say on that Tianis: 3gm i'll back u up if dwayne gets on ur case about it Rogue: ok sKuller: sounds kool Rogue: who wants to talk next ? Tianis: 3gm sorry Alex1105: i do Atahn: hand Roja: anyone want to respond to that? Rogue: Ohm Deson: (Hand) Ohm: i Rogue: Ohm come on stage Auric: u have to PM Ohm: Ok Ohm: Roja we do know that game is open source Ohm: but you must know that most of people here dont know how to program in C Ohm: i can make myself "new" interface Ohm: bout i bet 80% of players cant Ohm: next isue is radu: those who can can give it to those who can't. easy Ohm: that i cant find the "force attack" by holding ctrl/alt Ohm: it was implemented in CVS before update it isnt now. Ohm: i think that it would help PKrs Ohm: and they would complain so much about interface Ohm: thats all Ohm: thak you. Rogue: ok Roja: that is supposed to be in from what I know. and of course the majority of players cnanot modify their own client. which is why we must work to make the best p peb: *claps* Roja: possible be the default Platyna: (raises hand) radu: Alt works very nicely, it wasn't removed from the CVS Rogue: whs wants to talk next ? radu: i just tested it Rogue: shasso Platyna: (raises hand higher) Logger: lol zoin: get out my fave boy Tanyia: 3gm stuka over here! shasso: yey thanx woodchuck: whoa Shivar: stop talking shasso: ill be fast shasso: first the new maps are great shasso: i also agree that the interface is not that good shasso: but id like to pint out the harvesting and alchemy7pot7manu delays shasso: i understand why they were implemented shasso: economy, to limit the income of the resources shasso: but... this is BORING shasso: click wait 6 sec click wait 6 sec... shasso: you cant even like read a book while u do it , for example while harvest shasso: cos of the events and such Shivar: did u ever tryed it with 0 alchemy and 0 harvest? hehe. shasso: a better solution would be like a harvest limi9t like it was already proposed shasso: but not per hour shasso: but like per game day shasso: you get up, harvest all u can, make stuff and then .. go fihgt, summon or go to RL shasso: this waiting is a total waste of time and its boring shasso: so.. like a har shasso: evst capacity of letzs say 500 items per ingame day shasso: then u get a message ur tired and cant harvest anymore today shasso: EXCEPT for food shasso: this limits the income of materials and u can do it fast anf FUN shasso: wihtoputh waiting shasso: this is a rough idea, it was short notice Rogue: ok Roja: Yes waiting is a waste of time, I agree Logger: ;p radu: or what id I just increase everyone's levels to 99? would that be satisfactory? Roja: Which is why we are working on improving the skills so that, even though you will have to "wait" you will actually be doing things to make the item zoin: y isnt there any bow and arrows in this game ? peb: ´/rogue i want to talk, sir Rogue: who wants to talk next ? radu: or maybe even 120? that way you won't even have tow aste time playing the game Shivar: sir peb: i want to talk, sir Rogue: Platyna Logger: err shasso: its not that, the game is fun to play.. but its boring when u click the button and dont have anything to do for 7 sec.. Platyna: Ok. tresh: viva noobs tresh: sorry GiZi: lol Platyna: Well, about the interface: For me attractive thing in EL was simplicity. blacksky9: Platyna: I liked it, I don't like most the games because of their interface, first person view etc. So I'd like to encourage developers to actually stay with simplicity chintan: the storage interface isn't very good though Platyna: If something works ok, is comfortable and no one complains - why give yourself additional work and fix it? Platyna: Icons cycle - should be optional feature. tresh: it's boring Roja: Well that goes to the very meaning of an interface. what it should do, how ti should work, etc. Platyna: Yes, but don't use argumentation that "other games has it". Platyna: Other games has annoying chat interface etc. too. EL is simple and therefore attractive. Roja: that's not the argument Platyna: There is one important issue that has to be fixed: Clicking. Tianis: lol Shivar: agree. Platyna: Alot of clicking. This is why I suggested automixing patch even if it is only a temporary solution till new system will be done. Roja: An interface needs to fullfill these things to be good: Roja: 1. Ease of use 2. Intuitive 3. Not confusing 4. No hidden commands (at least none of importance) Platyna: Well. Roja: The old interface was lacking those things. And this one is too, so it still needs to be improved upon Platyna: Icons cycle is not intuitive and very confusing. Rogue: ok Roja: the cycles make it easy to use, and fast. That, combined with hotkeys i think will work. Shivar: Guys Stop PM me im not a mod.. Platyna: Yes, but it should be optional feature. Roja: but of course it needs to be tested. So I hope that the people here will test it. Rogue: okidokie Platyna: Okay one more thing are of course delays. Platyna: But I think it is too big topic to discuss. Puntif: would a reasonable alternative be that the HUD can select what right-click does? Platyna: So. I am done atm. Rogue: ok Rogue: who wants to speak next ? chintan: i do Rogue: zoin peb: i do Shivar: 3gm i'm off later. Rogue: zoin come on stage Roja: Puntif, go on first blacksky9: go zoin! Roja: jsut to finish up with the interface? zoin: no Rogue: ok zoin come near me Rogue: and let puntif finish the point about interface Roja: I think we should organize this meeting into topic related discussions, so we don't keep bringing up the same things? zoin: ok Puntif: sorry I came in late and didn't hear the ground rules - thought they'd be on cn 101 - I was wondering if instead of right-clicking to switch the cursor Puntif: that maybe there could be a spot in the HUD to select what you want right-click to do? Platyna: I had a small economy analysis towards new delays etc. but didn't wanted to take too much time. Roja: that's a good thought. kinda like how it was before. you'd click the icon adn if you're in another mode if that icon was still pressed it'd do it peb: cani speak now? Silvara found Joker and got a Potion of Harvesting Roja: I think this might work: Roja: Define the icons that you can cycle through in the .ini file Roja: how many, and which ones, for each part of the interface? Puntif: that way you'd have whatever fast-access you wanted (for fighting) b Roja: or maybe have a way to change it without restarting the game Roja: what do you guys think of that? sKuller: sounds good freeone3000: Modifiable with the % like the rest of el.ini? Sure. The_Piper: changing it in game sounds good. Ciara: Very good idea. chintan: yeah, changing in game sounds good radu: cool. who voulnteers to implement it? necroman: best solution for all Tanyia: excellent. Paladin: So there will be a choice between old and new interface? Roja: Rogue, is that possible to do? GiZi: wat did u say radu: ok, let me speak a little Platyna: Maybe there should a programmer speak but wouldn't be it more hard to implement than actually making it optional? radu: this is an OPEN SOURCE game. If you guys want changes, it's ok, but you should implement them. radu: because, well, maybe then you will appreciate the things a little more Roja: Yes, we need more programmers radu: it's easy to sit on your ass and expect others to iplement it for you radu: like I do most of the time Rogue: let me make a small point about hte opensource development . Works like this : even if u make a small contribution , even is if incomplete it might become Rogue: important #Message from God: legolas_o was eaten by a Grue (lagged out)! Lachesis: you won't get new developers by offending them ... #Message from God: Raspberry was eaten by a Grue (lagged out)! radu: and you won't get your suggestions implemented by pissing off the developers. Platyna: So, let's just grab serps and do another Israel and Palestina? radu: so, who offers to implement those changes? Anastasia: If you teach me C. Roja: Ahem... anyway, if any of you are programmers, and want to help this game be better, please, help us Our team is small radu: there are many free C books available zoin: i ask for bow and arrows Grum: i can do small projects, but i don't have the time do dig ibnto something extensive Rogue: ok ok the_antiroot: I will volunteern time on working on the interface. Rogue: Pppl freeone3000: zoin, p2p only, and they WILL do it. radu: great Rogue: let's get back to the original plan Rogue: now please be quiet Rogue: zoin come to stage zoin: ok Roja: ok, and unless it's very important..interface discussion over zoin: i thing p2p is bad zoin: u have to pay zoin: ppl cant afford stuff zoin: and y u have to play to play a game GuyBrush: well. That simple enough and stright to the point GuyBrush: sorry. jride: Noether can the developers freeone3000: Beacuse the people who made it made it to make money somehow. Rogue: let him speak zoin: no zoin: they are doing this for fun zoin: for ppl to enjoy the game they make Ohm: *cough*lies*cough* Platyna: Ohm. Rogue: ok zoin: thats all Platyna: Ok... Rogue: who wants to talk next ? Platyna: Me! sKuller: me Rogue: grum Grum: i do samurai1: pm Rogue: grum on stage Grum: okay, as i said, i'm willing to work on the client, but i'd like to make some remarks on that Grum: first of all, i think a list of manageable projects should be constructed Grum: i know wytter posted a list, but most of the things on there look like long term plans Roja: Agreed, organization is necessary Grum: second, atm the devleopment team is split between bm and el, and i don't think that's good Grum: because not only does it divide the attention #Message from God: The_Piper was eaten by a Grue (lagged out)! Grum: i have the idea that they're basically recreating el Grum: that was what i had to say Rogue: ok Rogue: one comment Roja: Actually BM is quite different Anamir: xcuses.. have to go. Gratz for the team. Great Job. Rogue: For the developers and for those who want to become developers Roja: And, the EL team is also working at fixing up EL greatly..EL will chagne quite a bit, but not for a while. Rogue: there will be a separate meeting with you Rogue: ok . who wants to talk next ? Rogue: aoshi Aoshi: k Aoshi: i didnt log on to el for a few days, and when i did, i saw that there was an update Aoshi: i got it and played and saw that the interface was WAY better for noobs Aoshi: i like that the storage was added onto the map peb: streaking! Aoshi: and that the descriptions for things were on the screen instantly Aoshi: but i was a little disappointed that the only thing that didnt tell u what things did was snow, fire, and smoke peb: who wants to see me streak? Aoshi: not me Aoshi: but Aoshi: i dont think that the new update was worth it Aoshi: i think that they should be optional Roja: Ok, we finished talking about the interface before, can we go onto a different subject? Roja: updates cannot be optional Aoshi: and the start up window should say "theres an update if u want it" or something like that Platyna: He meant fire, snow and smoke. Rogue: some updates can be optional some of them are not Aoshi: the older versions should still be supported a Aoshi: and i dont think hat p2p is needed Rogue: you can not play diablo II using diablo I cd set for example . Rogue: okdokie . who wants to be next ? Aoshi: wait 1 more thing #Message from God: Taliesyn was eaten by a Grue (lagged out)! Rogue: alex1105 GuyBrush: Ok. The updates can't be optional but players should be allowed to turn much of the added stuff off it desired Auric: thats wat optiional means guy Platyna: Agreed. Aoshi: if there will be bows why cant everyone have access, not just paying players GuyBrush: Well, not by the way he posted woodchuck: P2P needs something to draw players from F2P Aoshi: the programmers should find another way to make money GuyBrush: you mean like charge F2P? Rogue: alex freeone3000: Which would contridict the idea of f2p GuyBrush: Exactly Rogue: u are on . ppl Please be quiet while he speaks Roja: If another person says something about us making money i think i will boot them out of here! the_antiroot: agreed Grum: well, i will Grum: i think it's your bloody right to charge money for this game Roja: WE are giving you a free game, we have even decided to NOT make a P2P version! So the whole game is free. So, we are instead going to sell some items the_antiroot: my point exactly Aoshi: ok cool Roja: One more person who complains about that..i'll take you to kf Rogue: i'll join Rogue: ok Rogue: let's hear alex Aoshi: go alex! Anastasia: He's talking in the channel. -.- Roja: And btw, this money does NOT all go into me and Entropy's pockets! We have paid our volunteers and those who deserve money what little we can Rogue: talk locally Platyna: Actually paid items not comes from greed. Alex1105: soß Platyna: Making games is actually costly. Alex1105: so? radu: yes, we paid about 940 USd to the volunteers Platyna: No cash = no EL. Alex1105: ok radu: plus advertising, etc. Aoshi: gasp! Platyna: And it is the rules set by Mr. Hard Life. Alex1105: i repat Alex1105: also Alex1105: i think Alex1105: newer plants Alex1105: or turniers Roja: talk in complete sentences, please Alex1105: can make GuyBrush: turniers? Aoshi: huh? Tar found Joker and got a Potion of Body Restoration Alex1105: the game better and "cooler" Jenco: i think their should be more stuf to harvest Alex1105: It is not borring? Allways the same weather? Alex1105: or the same plants? Platyna: It is not always the same. Platyna: It is raising even on the desert. Platyna: raining. Alex1105: a half year snow in isla Prima? Alex1105: hmm freeone3000: It's only been there for 2 weeks. Alex1105: aha Rogue: anything else alex ? Alex1105: i know that not Alex1105: no Rogue: ty Rogue: who wants to want to go next ? Celine_Hagbard: me Rogue: chryzopraz GuyBrush: Well, I'll comment on the snow real quick. It's too Bright. Chryzopraz: Thank you woodchuck: I agree, I get seizures on IP Roja: the snow won't stay for long Chryzopraz: First I'd like to say that the last update is really good Chryzopraz: It goes in right direction woodchuck: left woodchuck: oops Chryzopraz: New maps are excellent, I've spent a lot of time exploring them Chryzopraz: As for me the interface as is is quite good and does not need any changes Chryzopraz: But more things should be changed server side Chryzopraz: First, I like very much the new "use with" function Chryzopraz: It has very great potential and should be extended a lot more Chryzopraz: then just making fire radu: it will be Chryzopraz: I like ideas made by shasso and Platyna earlier Roja: It certainly will be..one of the majory uses will be in quests Chryzopraz: about manufacturing and such Chryzopraz: I think harvesting as is is quite good really Chryzopraz: It may be boring a little, but we have a lot of time to talk Chryzopraz: and socialize Chryzopraz: Manufacturing could be similar, at least unless you implement something special I've heard you are planning Chryzopraz: And the idea of resources that run out is good IMHO too Chryzopraz: So to sum up the game is going in right direction Chryzopraz: but most changes are needed server side Chryzopraz: which is not open source, so we can't help in implementation Chryzopraz: OK, thank you, I tried to be short Rogue: ty Rogue: next ? Rogue: tanyia Tanyia: Hi everyone woodchuck: Hi! Tanyia: first of all, i'd like to thank the developers for all their obvious hard workd Tanyia: and the leaders/mods here for taking the time to listen to us. Tanyia: I think we all appreciate the update-very nice changes were made. Roja: your welcome Tanyia: My biggest concern is with the view. Tanyia: Now, I'm guessing that because it aws just updated, that more changes will come. Tanyia: But, I would like to suggest that we be able to see at a lower angle to see under trees/capes/etc. Tanyia: I am guessing this will take a LOT of programming and will take up more bandwidth, but i would like to bring it up in case it is possible. Roja: That requires rewriting the whole game engine, from what i was told Tanyia: It was juse a suggestion. Tanyia: Thank you again to the developers, and that's all i had to say. Anastasia: Alright, thank you Tanyia. Anastasia: Ciara will be next. Anastasia: Ciara, please step up to the stage. Rogue: anastacia will Be your Master of ceremony from now on Ciara: First I wanted to say thanks to all the developers and mods. Ciara: I think that you're all very under-appriciated, and we're too hard on you sometimes. Roja: you're welcome Platyna slaps Roja. Ciara: I think the update has a lot of good features. The game is still a work in progress, we can't expect it to be perfect on the first try. Ciara: I think the main bad thing, as has been mentioned already, is the lack of doubleright clicking. Tanyia: 3beam me Ciara: It does make it harder in combat. But I like the new "use with" cursor, the new fur clothes (Hope I can get them sometime..), fires, and other minor Ciara: improvements Ciara: Overall you've done a great job, the interface is wonderful compared to *cough*certain other games*cough* Ciara: To sum it up, I think you all have done a great job, and that we're all too hard on you and expect stuff to be done perfectly right away =P Ciara: That's all I had to say, thanks for letting me talk, hope it made sense.. thanks again. Anastasia: Thank you, Ciara. Anastasia: sKuller, your turn. Anastasia: Please enter the stage. Ciara: You're welcome, thanks to all for putting up with me. sKuller: ayup guys sKuller: will there be anymore animal spawn s? sKuller: as i am an old char i see loads more people coming back to the game shasso: you just got a new map full of new spawns :9 Roja: Well, if posisble i'd like for there to be random animal spawns sKuller: and the spawns are packed...were you thinking of implementing anymore? neeve: '?spawns? freeone3000: Where the monsters appear. sKuller: thats all thankyou Anastasia: Thank you, sKuller. Anastasia: Celine_Hagbard, your turn. Anastasia: Please enter the stage. Celine_Hagbard: hi all woodchuck: Hiya Celine_Hagbard: first, all who do not know, i am the same player as malaclypse, i want to comment on grum Grum: on me!? Celine_Hagbard: yes your idea of splitting into subprojects Celine_Hagbard: i think we already have started this a bit Celine_Hagbard: i started on a configure process and also on documententing the client some more Celine_Hagbard: mikeman has started to work on the cal3d stuff Celine_Hagbard: i agree with you that a list would make sense to cover possible more smaller projects as well Celine_Hagbard: i also think that the whole distributing of the client can have some work to do Grum: i agree radu: yes, auto updates Celine_Hagbard: the current system is quite chaotic containing seveal archives from different places Celine_Hagbard: autoupdate is very good i think Celine_Hagbard: k i came late and missed much, thats all, thank you The_Piper: yup, but it depends on the size of the update. radu: most of the new files are in the CVS radu: i mean, data files Chryzopraz: autoupdate may be convenient, but it's not good Anastasia: Thank you, Celine_Hagbard. Chryzopraz: It's unsecure, mostly The_Piper: nah, not really. radu: then you will dissable it radu: if yuo don't like it Anastasia: Dragonasi, your turn. freeone3000: It doesn't matter if someone else gets your files@ GuyBrush: Yeah, the updates may have to be gradual and one file at a time and not in one lump download DraGonAsi: hi i think the update is good i had only played for 2 weeks prior to the update and think that this is better than before Anastasia: Right after they're done discussing this... Rogue: the client won't take files .... it will put files Rogue: so your data will be quite safe necroman: are auto updates as easy to do for the windows aswell as for the linux client (since linux client needs to compile the files) Grum: linux binaries can be distributed DraGonAsi: a problem i have found is that you work hard to get armour and weapons DraGonAsi: then you enter a pk map and lose them all radu: don't enter PK maps then freeone3000: Simple. Don't go in a pk map. The_Piper: lol radu: or don't wear stuff you don't want to lose DraGonAsi: so i was wondering if it is possible to have a newbie pk map that alows you to keep your stuff radu: no DraGonAsi: up to a certain level radu: people would abuse it and train GuyBrush: Well, the general Pk system needs much work itself too! Grum: free training DraGonAsi: only lvl 6 DraGonAsi: that was all Platyna: Radu: radu: hmm... itneresting idea, we'll consider it Platyna: Entering that map above some level could be impossible. DraGonAsi: thank you The_Piper: or you cant attack other ppl there. radu: yes, that would be nice. maybe until lev 20 radu: not 6. 6 is too small Roja: There will be some fun training things, when we do the arena contests Platyna: I suggest 30. radu: besides, until level 6 you don't lose items anyway Platyna: 30 is weak player. DraGonAsi: yes 30 would be good Grum: 30 is too high Auric: 6 oa or 6 a/d ? Anastasia: a/d... radu: maybe 25 Anastasia: OA... you could reset. Grum: 25 can kill gobs already Roja: i think 30 is too high too... Placid: 15 oa, or 20/20 a/d whichever comes first. Roja: i think up until you can kill goblins is good The_Piper: why not have maps with max 10/10, 20/20 and 30/30 and unlimited or so? Auric: 25 sounds best.. Vegar: not oa, people could reset and abuse it Grum: 20 would be more reasonable Lachesis: you could limit the differences between two players that can combat Ciara: Yes if you only check OA, you can reset, and be quite strong with lowlvl OA... Placid: which is why 20/20 a/d? Ciara: Ehm, sorry, didn't see that.. DraGonAsi: i was only talking from experiance cos we were fighting in the arena and someone came in and killed us all Ciara: The "limiting differences" idea sounds good as well. freeone3000: That's why you use tirnym... Auric: tirnym = chims GuyBrush: How about a PK map that players must Pay to enter as well Auric: no. useless guy Auric: make a guild war map. but dats thinking too far ahead Soldus: can we please get back to one is talking only? this is leading nowhere GuyBrush: sorry Ciara: sorry DraGonAsi: i thought you could have a map with different islands for different levels Anastasia: Alright, thank you Dragonasi. Anastasia: Next is neeve. Anastasia: Please enter the stage. neeve: hi neeve: first, brilliant game, thanks to all involved neeve: probably a slightly dumb question, but going back to the losing stuff when you die... neeve: why can't you store normal books (as opposed to rare books) with th storage people? GuyBrush: To keep people moving neeve: how do you mean? Chryzopraz: you just buy the book you want to read GuyBrush: Or rather to keep people going back and forth from maps to map freeone3000: It's beacuse there is a constant, endless supply of non-rare books. freeone3000: No such thing for rares. neeve: ah, that would make sense...i bought a load i wasn't able to read yet radu: yep radu: that's the idea GuyBrush: Otherwise you could just buy all the books, store then and then read them at your leasure radu: move around, don't just sit and read neeve: won't do that again! neeve: thank for your advice....that was all really Anastasia: Alright, thank you neeve. radu: np Anastasia: Next is Lachesis. Anastasia: Please enter the stage. Lachesis: ty anastasia Lachesis: Hi everyone. I would like to comment on dragonasi woodchuck: Hiya Lachesis: He stated that it is a problem, that you cannot agree with a friend to train Lachesis: with each other safely, beacuase you have to be aware of stronger players on PK Lachesis: maps Lachesis: Now, makeing maps for certain levels raises two problems Lachesis: First, you will need a lot of maps to get the stats of people on one map close Lachesis: Second, it is hard to determine the numbers that should be used to decied whether a combat is fair. Lachesis: I want to present a simpler solution freeone3000: Melee average. Ciara: yeah.. freeone3000: a + d + p + c + w / 5 Lachesis: Players could decide themselves what is fair Lachesis: there could be a special map, where you can pk on mutual agreement. a map like WSC Lachesis: arena is predestinated for such use Ciara: Interesting idea. Rogue: that's duelling . it's a planned feature Grum: makes sense, actually Lachesis: Additionally, I offer to do the implementation work on client side to achieve this. Lachesis: thanks for your attention Anastasia: Thank you Lachesis. Ciara: Finally someone volenteers to implement the feature they want Anastasia: If any of you would like to go, please PM me. Vegar: I have a question Roja: Lachesis, if you wish to help with that then please speak to me or rogue and we'll make a post in the programming forum for you to contribute Roja: same goes for any other programmer who wants to volunteer for somethign specific radu: the mutual combat thing has to be implemented server side, sadly Vegar: Are there any "guidelines" for the developers, like programming style/indenting, etc? radu: yes Roja: i think you can get that from looking at the code? radu: try to emulate the current code's style radu: like use _ for function names radu: rather than DoThis make it: do_this Vegar: what about indenting? radu: no caps in variables or functions radu: indenting, 1 tab=4 spaces radu: and try to avoid function(){ radu: rather do it like: function()\n{\n.. etc Vegar: put the { on a new line? radu: yes radu: just look how the code is Platyna: Ain't these general rules of C programming? radu: no Vegar: some places there are indented with several tabs Vegar: like foo()\n{\t\tsomething\n} Rogue: no this are convention Ciara: Yeah, I think sometimes it's hard to read unless you have several tabs... but I'm only a beginner at C. Ciara: When I write code I use vim's autoindenting most of the time.. not sure how similar it is. radu: but in ifs, they should be; if()\n\t{\n\t Lachesis: No, there are different outline styles platyxna necroman: as long as everyone helping out sticks to the same rules, the code will be easy to read to all Anastasia: Right... may we move on now? Soldus: i think this is getting a little bit too specific for a "community" meeting now the_antiroot: just agree on the same prettyprinter Anastasia: Atahn will be next. Vegar: radu, that'll make lines very long The_Piper: yup, use prettyprinter and write code as you like. Anastasia: Please enter the stage, Atahn. Atahn: Sorry, trying to get up here. Atahn: Anyway, i would like to say first that i appreciate the work the programmers and volunteers have done for this game. Atahn: Also, I like the look since the last update, a little cleaner than it was. Atahn: My main point is that I'd like to see an extension of the Use With function, beyond fire and cooking. Roja: already was mentioned..and responded to Atahn: Also, perhaps some more animals, like cows, sheep, etc. might make the game interesting, IMO Atahn: Last, I would suggest about a point made earlier on losing things in battle. Atahn: Perhaps people so concerned could "donate" to the development of the game to "lock" the item to them, until they sell/drop it? Atahn: That is all from me. Thank you for your time. woodchuck: Np Soldus: ok...before the meeting harlee asked me to say a few things on his behalf Soldus: i won't comment on it, those are his ideas: Anastasia: Afl Anastasia: k* Soldus: harlee wanted to say this: (he had to go off)new rings should be implemented, such as: Soldus: ring of luck --> better item-drop-chancesring of dexterity --> better chance to hit Soldus: ring of forge --> better chance at manuring of war --> +5 attack, defense and armor Soldus: guess that was about it, the ring ideas have been said before, maybe worthn Soldus: worth* thinking abiout Ciara: Why do those sound more like medallions to me? But good ideas. Soldus: thnx The_Piper: hm. sounds to me more like potions or cloaks.. Ciara: Yeah, maybe not even medallions. GuyBrush: Nah, sounds more like Blessings to me. Soldus: i think he means WEARABLE rings Ciara: Like the luck one could be cloak maybe. Soldus: not as usable rings The_Piper: aaaah.. Soldus: and i remember hearing this before The_Piper: well, wearable rings are implemented in EL as medallions. radu: lol GuyBrush: Which shouldn't be The_Piper: so you suggest to have 10 more boxes to wear rings on each finger? remember pen&paper RPG's what could happen then Anastasia: Back Soldus: i think 1 or 2 more boxes was more what he meant Celine_Hagbard: there should be a limit of 2 rings much Platyna: There should be rings for various locations, and rare multiuse rings that does that what do normal rings just multiple times. Platyna: My two cents + I am gone. Soldus: lol, cya Quellentalious: but no drop chance increasing... Ciara: I think most people have fallen to sleep or left. GuyBrush: You can only wear up to two rings anyway. Even tried wearing 10 rings? necroman: i'm still awake tigg: i'm a noob and still interested Celine_Hagbard: the luck ring should be of more general use i think, not limited to drops only Quellentalious: not affecting drops. Anastasia: Anyone esle wants to talk, PM me. Anastasia: else GuyBrush: Luck should be a general Perk if you ask me The_Piper: well, i think its not a good idea to increase drop rate, if you wanna reduce the amount of RARE items.. Ciara: Maybe it should be a really rare cloak with features like: Mother Nature won't Teleport you/harm you as much... hmmm... what else? The_Piper: lol, ill be the first then to buy it from the shop Celine_Hagbard: but this has already become very rare Anastasia: Alright, inkydoo wishes to go next. Anastasia: Come to the stage. Ciara: well I don't know, just something to increase luck. Soldus: ok, stop local chat again please! Ciara: Sorry. inkydoo: It's been said alot, but I just want to add that EL is the best community built MMORPG I've seen. The_Piper: *claps* inkydoo: That said, I have two suggestions regarding manu, etc. delays Roja: Ok I gotta go, thankyou all for coming and giving your input inkydoo: First, perhaps have mixing slow down the longer you do one thing. Soldus: thank you roja! good night inkydoo: This would basically do the same thing as the delays now, but wouldn't be as random inkydoo: The other suggestion regarding mixing: inkydoo: You should gain some, much smaller amount of experince from failing to make something inkydoo: I mean, in real life, we learn from our mistakes (maybe more so than our successes). #Message from God: jasonx was eaten by a Grue (lagged out)! inkydoo: I realize you wouldn't want to do this for items that are beyond someone's level, but otherwise... inkydoo: Finally, if meetings are going to last this long, someone should have brought food. I'm starving The_Piper: lol tigg: starving 2 Soldus: Ciara: I have some extra veggies if anyone needs them Ciara: *fruits Anastasia: Rako will be our next and last speaker. Rako: me plz TirasHazor: We can go to the Happy Spirits Inn & Tavern afterward.. Drinks on Me. tigg: got 1 form 10 fruits woodchuck: shut up hazur TirasHazor: k jasonx: ... Soldus: O.o Anastasia: Silence all of you. Anastasia: Rako's turn. Anastasia: Rako: i gust want to say that ive died way to many times ppicking flowers and uthe game should losse the bee thing Rako: thats it Anastasia: Alright, and I suppose that concludes this meeting. Rako: thank you tigg: put beesting to 2 or something Ciara: Thank you everyone. jasonx: *cheers for rako* necroman: there was going to be a special meeting for people who wanted to help dev-ing? Ciara: Thank you mods and developers! Rako: thank you cryzopaz Chryzopraz: yw Anastasia: Yeah, Rogue mentioned that necroman. Aislinn: Thank you all for coming Rako: yw The_Piper: yup, thanks for this meeting. im off now. have fun, cu and byeeee Edited February 1, 2005 by Soldus
