  1. Mage class, Fighter class

I think the attribute cap will cause alot of systems in this game to get looked at again, like we're doing here with magic. With the new proposed restore, maybe more Body Restoration and Greater Healing pots will be used and create a demand for these to finally be made in large quantities. Under the magic*1.5+rationality*5 formula, I'll restore 165 health, so it's gonna make sense for me to use them from time to time to augment my restores when using a CoL. At lower a/d levels, Life Drain might become a favored spell for a quick hit point boost. Sure it will take away some a/d experience, but to some, it will be worth it. I think the attribute cap is going to give this game a whole new look.
  2. petition for attributes cap

Yes, and thanks for keeping the idea alive Molime
  3. Democracy in EL

I'm all for no democracy. I've adapted and enjoyed the changes he's made in the past two years. I don't remember a poll on the cooldown before that was introduced and that was a big change. Think about. Most game development companies have inhouse beta testers to bounce ideas off of and to test them before the public ever knows about them. Sure we're the beta testers in this case, but a lot of us look at it from our own perspective and not look at the whole picture. It's human nature. Let Entropy have advisers from all the skills that he feels he can trust to thoroughly think through changes he's thinking about implementing. If he has a new creature to fight, he talks with people like piter, asgnny, ambrosius, etc. For crafting, he turns to Ghrae, molime and the like. He can get them to go onto the test server and get immediate results from the pro's. This way he gets constructive feedback on ideas from a player's perspective and he can get a better sense of the whole scheme.
  4. Restoration based on rationality

What with the a/d cap and possibly an attribute cap and this, I might have to give the pk server a whirl to check this out.
  5. Attributes cap for the main server

Not to mention all the hours people spent on fluffs, chimmies, etc. A/D will be more the deciding factor I think.
  6. Attributes cap for the main server

I vote yes. I've been able to do every skill in the game so far with well below 48 in any attribute and still have a crapload of fun. It'll be nice to wander in PK occasionally and not get creamed by someone od'ed on phys or coord.
  7. First of all, I don't know if this is possible to implement. If not, then we can just ignore this suggestion. Some of the lower level people have stated that they dont feel like they can contribute in the large Idaloran invasions because they can't cast harm or poison for major damage or go toe to toe against the giants let alone the dragons. SO I was thinking that there could be spell(s) that they could cast that would help others. Mass Shield spell: Created a magic shield that affects all character in a "X" foot radius of the caster. Armor is increased by 3. Spell follows the caster. Sigils: Create Global Matter Protection Essences: 1 Magic 1 Matter Required Level: 10 Mana Required: 15 Reason: This would give a lower level character a reason to be with groups of fighters/caster as they go searching for invasion monsters. They will be able to learn fighting skills as they watch others and learn where NOT to stand. A 3 increase in armor might not seem like much, but it does help. Hopefully others can think of other good spells that would fit the idea of group spells for invasions. Of course it has to be doable from the programming stand point.
  8. Phantoms cause resync

I've gotten resyncs in Grunabi while fighting fluffs at either spawn. It seems (not 100% certain) I get more when they come into view from the camera side of my view than any other side. Are there any CVS compile options we can use to debug this? Edit: This problem occurs with the release tagged version of CVS under linux
  9. Invasion specific spells

Yes, do you? I've been playing D&D and variants for almost 25 years and I think it's been out for 30 years Thanks Ent. I was thinking it might be too much to implement, but didn't hurt to ask
  10. How EVERYONE can participate in invasions

The big incentive for me is to be able to fight along the pr0's like eMPi, Zamirah, Toomass and OMG and the like and to fight along with lots of people that I wouldn't have a chance to normally. The fun of fighting as a community for common objective. I can't take on a giant by myself, but with a group of fighters around my levels and mages harming away, they go down fast. Someone with a lower defense than me attacking the giant gives me a chance to wait out the SR cooldown. I can't touch a dragon at all, except for the very rare lucky hit, but if I can keep the dragon from hitting MP or Zamirah while they wait for SR/EMP to cooldown, it's worth it. With dragons, every little bit helps. My mirror cape and lucky hits don't do much damage, and your harms may not seem to do much either, but all of that combined add up over time.
  11. Little Dekke!

    Gratz Pop
  12. Update Instructions

That's a possibility. You can try and escape the white space "H:\Eternal/ Lands\" or however Windows does it. Is your "H" drive a network drive? I had that problem at work when I was looking for where EL saved my user files. My user directory at work is a network drive named "X", but EL resolved it to "\\fileserver\users\"
  13. I hate Tankel

And sometimes I think he's been at the tavern since the crack of dawn I've had average luck with Tankel and his brother HeavyBeard, though I do think his brother isn't as much of a lush.
  14. Character appearance

I've been using the new models along with the CVS client for a long time now. At first I did not like the way the new models looked, but I realized it was because I was used to the old proportions of the orchan and draegoni models. I love the smoother surfacing.
  15. GIWS gripe

That is so fun to do.
  16. The Minimap

I've been using it in the CVS client for a long time now and haven't run across a bug yet.
  17. Tomorrow (Sunday, 4th of November) Invasion

I had a blast dying in Bethel running against the giants and dragons. Though I can't take one down myself, I gladly threw myself at them just so higher a/d people like Zamirah, smurf and the others could cut them down without wasting their mana. Like others have said, it was nice seeing everyone, no matter enemy or friend, working together. Now I have week to restock all the esses, and potions I burned thru.
  18. Last no drop day

and at least an invis pot or two to escape.
  19. Invasion 10/13/2007

The invasion was a blast. It was fun trying to avoid giants and dragons outside and the storage invasion was a nice new twist. Popping in those giants and cockatrices after we all thought we had a handle on the feros was just evil. I lost three rost I think, but it was great fun. As others have stated, resyncs were a problem. Might have to play around with my ini settings a bit to try and come up with some invasion settings to deal with that.
  20. I also do not get foot steps with the cvs linux client.
  21. Massive invasion - Sept 18

What a great way to spend one's lunch break I only caught the mayhem in votd but it was great. Keep up the good work and hopefully there will be one for us later players
  22. Flying Spaghetti Monsterism Guild

    Good Luck and Ramen
  23. Now that Astrology is implemented...

I'm still experimenting to get a feel for the system, but so far it doesn't seem to have a big impact unless you are at the extremes of the modifiers. Just like Zamirah stated, if I didn't know it was there, I'd attribute the non-maxed modifier effects to the whim of the Random Number God and think nothing more of it. The only modifier so far that seems to have a big impact is the Harvesting modifier, but that could be because I was at the ends of the modifier range. I'm still trying to get a feel for that one.
  24. Newbie to Potion making?

I started potioning with mana and minor healing pots. Once I got to the point where I could make reasoning pots, I stayed on them till I could make srs and brs. I never had to buy bones and this was before vials disappeared after using them. I would mix up 50 reasoning pots in Grahm's village at sto, walk to Mira to sell them and buy feasting pots to use for alching. I'd then take the empties to make more reasonings. Rinse, repeat. Once I was able to make srs and brs, I mixed them for my own use till I got fairly decent with them. After a bit, I would mix up a few 1k at a time and sell them whenever I was low on cash. I'm at potion 62 now and mix only srs for myself and others or p/c/a/d pots for my own use. I still believe reasoning pots are a good way to make levels. Don't buy bones, just keep the bones you get from killing creatures, especially if your around the level for killing skeletons. If you get low, wander IP for a few minutes to gather up bones that newbies leave laying around.
