  1. Open and close

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\Usuario\Mis documentos\Eternal Lands\main and delete the files el.ini and el.cfg, then try starting the game; if it still crashes, please post here the content of the file C:\Documents and Settings\Usuario\Mis documentos\Eternal Lands\error_log.txt
  2. EL does'nt load

This is a laptop, I have had it for nearly 7 years now, always have it up to date with everything. Runs fine with other games i've downloaded also. Links other gave me don't work at all also. If it's a laptop you don't get the drivers from the ATI website: you need to go to the laptop manufacturer website, and see if there are newer drivers available for your video card.
  3. caricature problem

Open the options (ctrl+o) and in the "Video" tab turn on the "mouse bug" option. If you are ingame, you can ask for help on the help channel putting @ before your message, or sending an help request with the #help_me command
  4. OK, my graphics look funky. :(

I have no experience with Macs and have never seen that problem before (looks like the edges and the diagonals of the tiles are not displayed correctly), so consider these just as guesses: - try to toggle on/off the options you have in Ctrl+o -> Adv Video - could you post here the content of your error_log.txt file? About the missing extension, that's usually not a problem (at least on windows and linux): it just means that your video card doesn't support that feature.
  5. W7

Not sure of what you mean with "connection to server is red", but looking at that log, even if you connect you won't be able to play since your system is lacking openGL support at the moment: you must go to the website of the manufacturer of your video card (usually www.nvidia.com, www.ati.com or www.intel.com) and download the latest drivers for your video card/system - note that if you have a laptop, you'll find the drivers you need on the website of the laptop manufacturer.
  6. EL Not starting

Go to the "Devices Manager" and look at the section 'Display Adapters' which list your video card model. If you don't know how to get to the Device manager, just put in google "how to access the device manager on windows xp/vista/7" (choose the version of Windows that's installed on your pc).
  7. Compiling Map Editor

Have you edited the file mapedit.ini so that the path points to your EL installation? that #datadir option is separate from the one for the client in el.ini
  8. EL - Registration / Login

Have you already tried updating the drivers for your card? Also, what video card do you have?
  9. Segmentation fault

/usr/lib/dri/i965_dri.so would point to a problem with your video driver; when you start EL from terminal, could you copy here the whole line with which you start the game? For example for me it is thery@localhost:~/games/el_linux$ ./el.x86_64-cvs3.linux.bin The error log is in ~/.elc (note the . which means it's an hidden folder)
  10. Segmentation fault

Could you post the content of ~/.elc/error_log.txt ? Could you try running EL through gdb and post the backtrace you get? Open a terminal, go to the folder where the EL binary is, type gdb el.x86.linux.bin (or the name of the binary you are using), type r to launch it - when it crashes, type bt full. Also, looks like you are running EL as root? (shouldn't make you crash though)
  11. Client update test

Client: cvs compiled less than 24 hours ago OS: Slackware 13.1 64bit Video Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 OpenGL Version: 3.3.10151 Compatibility Profile Context Today, during the contest in KF, the client crashed with segmentation fault many times; not sure if it's relevant, but I was in demigod mode and several times the game crashed as soon as I turned demigod on - other times the crash happened when approaching the central fort where there was lot of fighting/ranging/spells going on - other times the game was fine with no crash for 10-15 minutes; I have custom cloting off and also removed the "custom" folder in .elc/main. Here is the backtrace of one of the crashes: $ gdb el.x86_64-cvs2.linux.bin GNU gdb (GDB) 7.1 Copyright (C) 2010 Free Software Foundation, Inc. 12. EL Not starting

What video card do you have? Try going to the website of your card manufacturer (like www.nvidia.com or www.ati.com), download and install the latest drivers for your card. If that doesn't help, could you post the content of the file documents\Eternal Lands\error_log.txt ?
  13. Client crash in Suse since the custom cloths update.

This is probably why you are crashing: The datadir is invalid (should be #data_dir = "/usr/share/games/elc-data" according to what you said), so the client search for the data in the folder from where you are starting the game (~/.elc/ apparently). If you go to /usr/share/games/elc-data before starting the game, it should load fine even without fixing the datadir.
  14. New character troubleshoot.

It sounds like the game crashes: try going to the Nvidia website www.nvidia.com and installing the latest drivers for your video card. If that still fails, would be useful if you post the content of the file Documents/Eternal Lands/error_log.txt
  15. getting very low fps :(

Could you post the content of Documents\Eternal Lands\error_log.txt ? And also check Options (ctrl+o) -> Video -> Limit FPS to be sure that you haven't set a low limit to your framerate (a limit of 0 means unlimited).
