The restoration effect still works on a client compiled May 2 (but not May 4). Unless the spell effects were handled differently, I don't imagine it really is server-side.

Same for me (restoration spell effect does not work). Linux, Amd64, CVS compiled as of may 5, 2pm EST. Edit: Restoration effect had worked previously on all builds from March through May 1st.

The players online pages uses the EL server (game.eternal-lands.com). With the pathway to the server down, you won't be able to get that either.

50 bars for 500k gold may take a while (unless one plans ahead and places reasonably large orders, in which case this is quite easy). However, it IS extremely feasible to buy 50 bars for 750k gc from the NPC at 15k per bar. This could be done in an instant. Yes, it is expensive, however not ridiculously so. I see this as something that could be exploited in the future, should a buyback option be introduced. Even if it were a God-like system, wherein a player could only choose one or the other, or face some penalty, such as 100k gc to switch -- it would be easily worthwhile. In the quest for earning a single pickpoint, high-level fighters can easily break 100k gc worth of armor, and also gain 100k gc worth of drops. Gold coins are easy come, easy go. Pickpoints have never been so easy (aside from some recently added perks) to gain. I'd like to see them remain an accomplishment, as they were originally designed, rather than an exploitable "feature".

This account does not coincide with the actions of your character, Paie. I don't know whether it was you, your husband, or an evil conspiring ficus plant, but someone was moving your character around, in/out of storage, harvesting, and walking around whilst ignoring bright red Mod PM's. As far as the Mod PM's, themselves, first you said you were AFK for them, then later just said you ignored as any other PM. Perhaps the two of you need to figure out who or what it was controlling Paie during this time.

you can try opening that file as root, or: chown <user name> ~/.elc/error_log.txt should work. It could even be that you (as normal user) don't have the permissions set right to access the proper files, causing the crashing to begin with. I believe there are other threads in the Help Me forums dealing with such issues.

Try pasting the contents of your ~/.elc/error_log.txt file here. Also, have you tried disabling fog in ~/.elc/el.ini ?

Sounds like a great base idea The only issue I see (other than the already mentioned problem with training) would be: mutual enemy guilds (those set for "total war") would have no crafters, potioners, etc., as these people would be killed while harvesting, making their products, etc. The guilds would have no choice but to consist of 100% fighters.

In your el.ini (~/.elc/el.ini), make sure the #data_dir points to the place where you've unzipped the EL files ( /home/afonger/Desktop/Eternal_Lands/) The easiest way might be to unzip the files to /usr/local/games/el/ Edit: also, when launching the .bin you've made, put it in the folder with these other files.

Allowing guild members to attack one another would make it more difficult to team-kill monsters, such as the yeti, arctic chimeran, or giant. Also, permitting guild members to attack one another would mean that players could mana drain their guild members to aid them in battle (allowing for high will/vitality alts to stand there as a source for mana, skirting cooldown).

Firstly, the reason behind this new stance for HIM is in the interest of FUN, not hatred/revenge/greed/cowardice/etc. As for the now infamous list of people we are restricting ourselves from attacking, it may change. Maybe today... or maybe never. This is an untried, alpha-test list, based primarily on long-lived EL friendships. The list is not set in stone. There are many, many people who have been exceedingly nice to me throughout my EL career thus far. These are people against whom I could never instigate war. DonPedro is one of these people. Another who was always fair and honest was Smooms. Even in light of the criticism I'm now seeing, my views remain unchanged. For those of you concerned that the ebul HIM guild is going to hunt you down... we're still comprised of the same people as before. We are opening the door to allow for more fighting, but this does not mean we are declaring war on everyone... especially our own friends who happen to not be on the aforementioned list. Being chastised by the very same people who criticized HIM for not taking a stance in PK seems quite unfair.
