    :) Seems to me the best way of doing it would be a structured tourney style fight. Everyone gets paired up, each pair fights till one dies, the other wins and gets to heal before his next bout. Continue until one winner, all moderated by a few toughies who kill anyone who try to mess up the event.

    Okay, I created a thread in Offtopic that was off game topic. It was not flamebait. It was a constructive request for the mods to consider not just deleting at will. And it was wiped as if I were flaming the admins.

     

    Could whomever has issue with my post please PM me about it? I'm bothered that you just delete valid posts without any real reason or rhyme, so to speak. I will discuss in PM, but the way things are going now, the mods are doing as much to hurt things as the flamers... And I am a part of neither group.

    <_< Sunshine, as she is now known as, is pretty much the poster child of not only speaking up and speaking out, but also doing it inappropriately. I think we all know what the community thinks about the tendency toward what Ent has all but called his own third reich. Many of us in the community... some players, some veered away from player status by the governing here, but all looking to help save what is now commonly seen as a dying community... Many of us have posted our dissatisfaction with how things are run. Some of use have been silenced, our posts deleted, etc. But we are players.

     

    ;) Players have the forums to discuss matters with mods and admins. Mods need to keep their dirty laundry out of the public eye. Sunshine never intended to do this, and for that she was wrong. That is what she is known for... When all is said and done, she will be forgotten as a free speech advocate, and only remembered as that whiney mod who had a beef with Roja and wouldn't just go away and sulk by herself. She gave up her dignity to hurt a former friend who wouldn't give her everything she wanted.

    :D Lol, Make sure TheNewestNewbie sees your sig; she and I were having a flame battle in Flames, (and it got deleted, I guess 'flames' is a misnomer category, huh mods? ;) ). Anyhow, she told me Orwell said "Ignorance is Bliss", and as I tore into that with the correct quote, (from memory, no less) I found the thread deleted. Suck! lmao

    :blink: That's kinda how things have worked here... sunshine (aka P L A T Y N A) ruined speaking out for the rest of us. Not all who have an opinon differing from the mods/admins are going to spam and flame everything they can get their mitts into. But the people in charge no longer care. sunshine did her damage, and twofold, because not only has she pissed off players who no longer want to join in the community, but she's also made the mods quick to stomp down on anyone talking out of turn, so to speak.

    Hmm... This would be that language type stuff that I mentioned a month ago is less fitting for this type of game than pistols. Ah well, maybe one day it would get cleaned up to get that family friendly nomination. lol

    Well, no limits allowed, you can't whine about losing anything, and rule number 6 is gonna be a bitch to prove. Assuming that all contest holders are on the up and up, some high level PKer is gonna hear the announcement and wait for some fresh meat. That's what PK maps are for, is it not? PKontests are just a lure to get people to come to PK maps that wouldn't normally come anyway.

     

    And yeah, it is kinda funny that Ent makes hard and fast rules in a game he doesn't even play. But I found that argument goes nowhere, so I won't bring it up here. And while some of the mods, hell maybe most of the mods, realize this new way isn't a good way, it isn't their call... And the one whose call it is, is unaffected by his own rules. Define irony for me?

     

    I remember when I started playing that LV held those damn PKontests, maybe 10 of em a day or more, and the #BC spam was annoying as hell. Then I see the forums pasted up one side and down the other about how he was looting, people were mad because they didn't get their stuff, and I'm thinking, "do people just think LV can magically teleport all their belongings to them? It is PK land afterall". Of course, he did post that items would be returned, which was a bad idea as we've all seen. Has there been a good side to PKontests?

     

    So, there needs to be some sort of game mechanic, maybe installed in the arena, where you can be PK'ed, and you will lose nothing when you die. Doesn't have to be big, doesn't have to lead to resources, doesn't have to be open all the time, maybe just when mods are throwing one of these contests. Otherwise, they're a terrible idea, because your general population don't wanna run in and lose everything, even for a free P L A T E mail armor.

    EDIT: Wth happened there? lol. Aparently when you type P L A T E mail, it changes it? Is there a reason for this? ...nevermind, I just figured it out. Apparently someone's name is a part of the armor, and her name is now a curseword, lol.

    Personally, if I find a deathbag, or any bag with more goodies than I think should have been left around, I will post to ch3 if I'm there. I'm being the nice guy in even offering to give it back, so I'm not gonna work extra hard to get to ch1 and ch4, even if it is just a couple #jc commands.

    :) Speaking of first day... I started on a char named Noobieguy or something like that. He was #kill'ed within a week as I felt I was ready to choose a character name and take a stab at really playing. Anyhow... There was a guy who helped me a lot, at what I would much later learn was #beam. His name is/was Anyway. I'd just like to say thanks to him for helping a newb out, if he reads these forums.

    :D Goats are in fact llamas who want to avoid being ridden. Llamas are generally ridable, and goats are not. Therefore, when a llama does not want to be ridden, it disguises itself as a goat. But many decide not to go this route, because if you're not ridable, you're really only good for hides and meat... Ridable isn't such a bad thing then.

     

    :blink: And of course, llamas aren't the only ones masquerading as goats. This is proven by goatsgomoo. Obviously, it's a trick, meant to make us believe that cows are pretending to be goats, when in fact it is the penguins in disguise, mooing to make themselves inconspicuous as goats.

    Can UO be played with a 33.6k modem connection?

    Minimum requirements for 2d client include:

     

    "Slip/PPP or direct connect at 28.8kbps or better with 32-bit TCP/IP stack"

     

    So I would say yes.

     

    Yes, Razor requires MS dotNET framework to be installed. I've been working on an issue with people having copies of WinXP that MS claims is 'allegedly pirated', and thus they can't update Windows. If you could, contact me via MSN Messenger (or PM me your MSN email) and I can help ya work on connectivity issues.

    :( Okay, I've been searching for a good forums for a week now, inbetween working, and here's what I've come up with:

    :( For now, I believe Roja and I are in agreement NOT to lock this thread, but I will ask that any players on Darkadia (my UO server) please set up an account on this new forum and discuss game issues there. I intend for this thread (on EL OffTopic forum) to remain here for only-EL players who want to read and maybe ask a question or two.

     

    :huh: Pending my time involved with setting up spawners in Haven, (newbie island), I will have a mini website on the game server with a link to the forum as well. It will also have free advertising for EL, in an attempt to work together to help players find both games whenever they find one or the other.

     

    Thanks to all for reading, and to all who are helping me bugtest, and to the GSD members who've joined up to see some game features that could maybe be used to improve EL.

    I got an email like that. Imagine my surprise when I found out I have kin in Nigeria! Well, had. The last remaining relative died in a bloody civil war, and someone Barrister, something at law, was trying to contact the next of kin by randomly picking out people with the same last name. Which just happens to be my last name!

     

    So anyhow, I gave em my bank account, which I prolly shouldn't have done, since it's already got tons of money in... They might not be able to fit all that money into the account, since it's all only FDIC insured to 100k. Guess they'll hafta do it in 100k increments. They had to take my money out so they could wire the overseas money in. That should be any day now...

    :P Well, making the current action of clicking on the bag actually work would be nice... Top priority I'd say. But also, how 'bout having an option you can turn on and off, (like the option to show the drop window when you drop items), to always open the drop window when you step onto a bag?

Of course it was neither, and of course I PMed him telling him he was wrong, but he never responded. Shame, we could been jolly good friends and talking about nothing in ICQ.

     

    :D Btw, Entropy is essentially randomness and decay. Maybe not the greatest omen for running a server, but it sounds cool. I played a Euthanatos in Mage: tA pen and paper game, so for any who know it, I know entropy, lol.

    There's gargs, virtues, no gargish, there is orcish, spoken by orcs, and lizardman speech, spoken by... Yeah. There's karma, you get it by killing monsters, you lose it by stealing, PKing, killing good npcs... And you can play an evil character if you don' wanna be the Avatar.

    :) It's Sosaria, with lots more... And the moongate cycling was done away with shortly after Third Dawn, (3D). You walk into the moongate, and pick where you wanna go. It became a whole new game during Rennaissance, I think it was, and weapons and armors because elemental defences and attacks... It's so much beyond the old UO, (I started when T2A was released), it's hard to explain without just coming in and seeing it...

     

    :P Btw, no, you can't get 2d or 3d seperate, it's a package deal. I personally like the graphics of 2d better, like for opening containers.
