Well... Str8 is now banned...

Makuyi, gratz on getting so far in 6 months!! Don't listen to anyone that says you have somehow not accomplished enough. For those of you who have played around 6 months and have accomplished less, don't you feel bad either. First, consider how much game time you get compared to real time. I for one have played in real time for much longer than I care to mention - much much longer than Makuyi, and am signigicantly lower level than she. Frequently when I log on, it is for a short period of time, just long enough for a daily quest. This can also lead to unbalanced skills, as I can get proportionally much more a/d doing Haidir quests in 30 min, than I can get casting, harving, mixing etc. Second, consider how you spend your time on line. Many players have figured out how to maximize their exp/time, and they spend every minute on line doing that (maybe a slight exaggeration). Personally, my focus is to have fun in game. Sometimes that means working really hard toward a goal and getting good exp. Other days, I get hardly any skill exp because I'm chatting so much. I also love ranging! very fun, but not a good way to level up Either way, it's a good time, and that is what the game is about for me. So, you can play EL like you would an xbox game, and try to 'beat the levels' and get all you can as fast as you can. Or you can play the game other ways. Enjoy it and have fun. Seek guidance from the pr0s (thanks for the tips in this topic, btw) if you want or go it alone and explore - there's a lot to see, take your time! Whatever way you play, enjoy the game.

Wow, extreme bag jumping! I had the pleasure of harving along side str8 recently, seemed like he was trying to make nice, so I did too. Either that was in his attempted period of reconciliation or he was waiting to bj me/others. Perhaps that's why he was acutely interested in what we were mixing LOL! His heart must have skipped a beat when I stood up to kill a local creature for bones - no I didn't die Good thing I wasn't bag mixing at the time... I've never seen someone so bold. Seems like he's not even trying to hide it now. It's almost refreshing that he's out with it and not trying to play innocent. Frankly, bjing is not against the official rules, just accepted social rules, so this is harv'er beware. Some players are out there trying to make a living by stealing your stuff - any way they can. from rule #3 respect others: (besides newbies) "...This does NOT include pking, pvping, "spawn stealing", bag stealing/jumping, or guild/interguild issues. These are a normal part of gameplay and WILL be treated as such." In the end though, they get what they deserve...

This also happened to Delight. She drank an SR or BR, not positively sure which one, at the same time that her MoL healed her.

Fuse, if you're reading this: I know you made a plea to me that you don't lure ppl, and you claim that this quest is 'real.' The quests are pretty well documented in the wiki forums, and I have not seen a quest to the effect that you keep trying to get ppl to help you with. If this is a real quest, then tell us which one it is, which npc starts it, etc... and also why someone cannot help you if they are not wearing good armor... why you don't ask powerful ppl to help you etc... Like I said to you in game, it sure looks like you are trying to lure ppl, and you know it. If you really need help - be more clear and I'm sure someone can help you. If you are trying to lure, then I fear you will suffer for it like others have - your choice but don't expect ppl to like/trust you.

Ok, ok, this is a game and we're all having fun!!! for the record, I didn't bring in the comparison to EL to RL, I was just responding to the idea that (to paraphrase) 'it's good we have predators on line because it can teach real life lessons.' It seems that everyone was saying how careless Dark was and no one was saying how rotten the others were to do this to him.

Ok, we all agree that DarkWizard showed poor judgment going into that arena. He obviously sensed danger, but likely thought it would be in the form of STR8Jacket himself. He did not anticipate the well laid trap. Good learning experience etc. and better he learn that in game. Good. How about the other side of the equation?? In all the replies, no one has denied the fact that this was a trap. Everyone sees that this was an intentional deception in order to steal his stuff. We have to be very careful as a community not to be seen as celebrating unfair play in the game any more than we do in real life. Yes, the game can in some ways reflect RL, and especially because of that, we cannot show tolerance to this sort of deviant behavior, just because most of us think the victim should have known better... or are we really that desensitized? In rl, every woman should know not walk alone at night, but that does not excuse the horrible actions of her attackers. No, taking advantage of the unsuspecting is wrong. We cannot be passive on that point. There are predators in game as well as in rl, and their deeds need to be called out for what they are. There will always be these sorts of ppl/players, and we don't need to encourage or excuse their actions just because we are glad that rl lessons can be learned in game. If the game were more like medieval RL, I can tell you from chat in game, that there probably would have been a lynch mob formed and the perps would have been hunted down - not that I condone that either...

I don't disagree with The Piper, and someone with more worldly experience would have known better. Certainly this is a learning experience for DarkWizard. At the same time, looking over the transcript, it seems clear to me (someone with a bit more worldly experience) that Str8jacket was doing everything he could to get DarkWizard into THAT arena - the arena that his mate was in and ready to summon a bunch of tigers. Granted, there may be no direct evidence here to prove that was the plan, but it certainly seems likely. Moreover, other players on today related the same sort of events happening to another 'victim,' if you will, carried out by the same players who did this to DarkWizard. It seems horrible to me that someone would do this to another player. I think it brings the whole game down when people behave like this. No game rules may have been broken (that's why this issue isn't under ABUSE), but preying on players like this is just wrong.

I am DarkWizard, not WinterMage, but I got permission to use his account for this message. This morning, I was lured into a pk arena by STR8Jacket and then killed by some summoned white tigers while STR8Jacket stayed out of the arena and then bagjumped me, taking my Black Dragon Cuisses and my Medallion of Life: (and note that he is trying to look nice) And the rules asked for unedited logs, so there are other pms in there and at one point I did gossip someone to see if they were on and then changed my mind, so dont take offense if I gossiped you. Note, I was cautious. You will see that he assured me the PK area was no drops. He also insisted that I wear good armor. Further, he insisted that I go in first, and he never went into the arena. This is the first time something like this happened to me, so I was not on the lookout. I have also heard that something very similar to this happened earlier this morning to another player (omitting his name on purpose here), but I don't have the evidence showing that.
