Hiya Folks .. AelfWine here. Brand-new to Eternal Lands (like 2-3 weeks old) .... so far I like it a lot, but I've run into a couple things that I have questions about:
1) Character movement & attack(ing) - I've read the threads regarding the ideas, suggestions, etc. for changes to the method of movement and attacking. I pretty much agree with most of them that the suggested changes would make it just too darn easy to play and fight .... but there IS one thing I'd like to ask .... when you attack-click something that is out of range, you get the message "too far away ... move closer" - that's fine. But could the system ALSO use that invalid attack-click to MOVE your character to that spot AS WELL as informing you of an out-of-range attack attempt?
2) The "smart" cursor - that changes functions when you move it on the screen - even when you don't want it to change - and then won't change back to the needed mode nearly fast enough - is there any way to disable this? I wouldn't mind having to right click to change function all the time - so long as I could be assured that it was MY fault that the cursor wasn't in the correct mode - not the system changing it for me then lagging way behind the screen-and-cursor-position auto change.
3) I'm running the latest package distro for a Ubuntu Intrepid system (8.10) - I added the sound and music files and all seems well. However, the error log continually and constantly gives me a string of sounds missing when I startup :
[19:08:33] Unknown sound (Bow In) in actor def: human female
[19:08:33] Unknown sound (Bow Fire) in actor def: human female
[19:08:33] Unknown sound (Bow Fire Out) in actor def: human female
[19:08:33] Unknown sound (Bow In) in actor def: human female
[19:08:33] Unknown sound (Bow Fire) in actor def: human female
[19:08:33] Unknown sound (Bow Fire Out) in actor def: human female
[19:08:33] Unknown sound (Bow In) in actor def: human female
[19:08:33] Unknown sound (Bow Fire) in actor def: human female
[19:08:33] Unknown sound (Bow Fire Out) in actor def: human female
[19:08:33] Unknown sound (Cross Bow Fire) in actor def: human female
[19:08:33] Unknown sound (Cross Bow Fire Out) in actor def: human female
[19:08:33] Unknown sound (Bow In) in actor def: human male
.... etc etc etc for about a page or two - all the same.
I've checked the sounds in the EL directories .. yepp .. not a single bow or crossbow sound. This SEEMS to be coming for the actor definitions in one of the .xml files - but don't hold me to that. I've downloaded the latest sound pack zip (1.80) - and there are not yet any bow or crossbow sounds there yet either.
That's about it for now - nothing game-stopping. As I said, I getting very hooked on the game, and Kudo's out to the entire dev team for making such a enjoyable game.
