  1. Yes, I think we have a similar problem with cleaning up our guild roster from players who have stopped playing a long time ago (or maybe got a name change. Quite few "Zombies" in our list of guildies.

It's been mentioned on the forums before... let me see:

Mythos, April of this year about the same "bug" (no reply so far):

    http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=59416&p=582078

I thoguht BruSu had posted about problems concerning removal of members no longer playing from list of RoS guild members as well, but I can't find her post right now *shrugs*.

So anyway, yes other guilds do have the same or similar problems regarding management of guild members. Let's see if a fix can be found :-)

  2. Hi, I've tried configuring my sound_warnings.txt to hear a warning when I stop harvesting. Somehow, it didn't work initially though.

First I thought a restart of EL client would do the trick (which is necesssary on my system for example to make fighting sounds audible after turning sound on, while many other sounds are there right away, never did find out why). It didn't change a thing though.

Text Warning Sounds Volume is set to 0.90 and my C:\Program Files (x86)\Eternal Lands\sound_warnings.txt looks like this:

    # This file is configuring sounds based on text displayed in the console
    #
    # Format for this file:
    # Sound = Text to match
    #
    # The default sounds available are:
    # alert1, alert2, alert3, alert4
    #

    alert1 = You stopped harvesting.
    alert2 = You stopped harvesting
    alert3 = You stopped harvesting.

(did some experimenting with different alerts and parts of or full message - to no avail)

So, I started to dig a little deeper into the config files and found the following:

    - I didn't find anything like alert1.ogg in \sound for example, nor anything about alerts mentioned in \sound\sound_config.xml

    - found \sound\snds_client.xml (which is referenced in sounds_config.xml) and DOES HAVE amapping of the alert1 - alert4 sounds :icon13:

    - finally checked out the mapped sound files until I found sheep.ogg (which should really ring a bell for the afkish Draian, when played) mapped to alert4

=> erased all previous lines and put "alert4 = You stopped harvesting." into my sound_warnings.txt and bingo! I do hear something now when Gwaew stops harvesting

    Happy afking everyone :pickaxe:

  3. Well, unfortunately Orcelius isn't the only one asking for his conversation partner to "check back another time"...

There's this Lady... Hawkins?... who's a professional archer and might be offering a training lesson of some kind... although not at this time.

I've been asking her for that lesson about once a week for a year or more now -unfortunately she hasn't changed her mind, yet

There's also this medallion hunt currently leading to a dead-end in a deep dwarven gold mine ... mayhaps for a while we should stop keeping radu busy with our daily multiple inquiries about capped invasions or invances and give him a break to tie up some loose ends in quest story lines :pirate:. Just a thought...

  4. Taking a db is not a scam, but the result of a risk you took (going back without rosto), a gamble you lost.

You also are not entitled in any way to getting a share of the loot, if people share gc that is kind of them, but not required. Sounds like your choice was to go back and get the xp, rather than give up.

I see no proof about who took the bag, or indeed that a bag was taken.

Just wondering (for clarification): Were you commenting on behaviour of an invance participant (Iscalrith) or an instance team member? From the way you worded things ("... go back and get the xp..."), I got the impression you did the former.

  5. Hi,

while this actually doesn't fit the definition of a scam, I do understand strider's point here: A warning not to trust Dleh when it comes to instances - if what supposedly happened is true.

I don't know strider8, nor do I know anything of what happened in that instance, but from my (little) experience with Dleh (from invances etc.) I did not expect some behavior like this from him!

=> Therefore I'd really like to see Dleh pick up the chance to save his reputation and comment on the accusations made here !!

Trustbot (/Trustbot details Dleh) gives a somewhat negative impression, but on the other hand three votes can hardly be called representative...

The thing that surprised me most in this thread however, was the rather adverse nature of most replies to strider's initial post: "your own fault... not a scam..."

While it might have been wise to use a little more caution with an instance team he aparently didn't (fully) know, I'd personally rather put the emphasis on the point of instances: Team play, trust, joint effort for a significant reward. If I join an instance team I EXPECT from the others in my team to naturally save (and return) my DB and share the reward, even if I fell out of the instance for whatever reason.

If I can't expect that from the members of the team (or at least didn't know and fully trust a part of that team who'd vouch for the others) I probably wouldn't join.

... just my thoughts on the topic in general.

I'm really looking forward to hear what Dleh has to say to this - if he won't bother to say anything then that fact would speak for itsem as well in my opinion ;)

  7. There is definitely a bug with radon pouches. Wearing a rdholam, BD pants, BD greaves, I take no cavern wall damage (event does not happen to me, and I take no damage when it happens to someone else), but with radon pouches, i take 10 damage when it happens to me, but no damage when it happens to someone else. Should be identical, no?

    Z

Well that could be explained by the distance that "someon else" is sitting away from you. Starting at some unkown distance from the person triggering the event you won't be harmed by collateral damage anymore. (IIRC, that was confirmed to me by radu personally in PM quite a while back)

  8. If all was exactly like you described, it does sound like a bug. ANd I'm a little bit surprised to hear so, since I've had Collateral Damage for a while now and found that the armor you wer does indeed have a very significant impact on the collateral damage you receive.

I.o.w. from my experience I'd expect you to get no damage from radon pouches triggered by others when wearing radiation-protection-6-armor

  9.

    90 Dandelion
    1314 Poppies
    = 2106 gc
    946 Iron Ore
    = 3784 gc
    123 Gypsum
    = 1230 gc

    46 Ring of Isla Prima

    2 Ring of SRM
    1 Harvester Medallion
    = 12200 gc
    30 Feran Horn
    = 900 gc

these are my personal price suggestions, totalling up to 20220gc - take it or leave it ;)

(not much ingame right now, please drop me a forum PM or just reply here and I'll come look for you ingame)

  10. I disagree with Maxine about ranging (but somehow right now can't put her quote above my reasoning... must have pushed the wrong button).

Explaination: Whoever bothers to come to an invance (especially those invances below 120+) with a quiver full of PK ammo does so because he/she has at least some interest in archery. Otherwise it would simply be a waste of gc.

Thus, even though it's not really the best option for actually training archery, a ranging (summoning, magic...) exp bonus would indeed make up for some of the drawbacks an archer (summoner, mage...) is facing when helping out with his choice of skill to defend against a siege on the Fort of Iscalrith.

    => My suggestion:

Leave everything (participation rules, exp bonus in the end, etc.) as it is now in invances, but add at least a small exp bonus per hit/cast/summon in the skills of archery, magic and summoning.

Let me repeat: ranging in invances is NOT about xp, so anything that multiplies the ran xp (and especially if it nullifies the chance to defend yourself or make some gc when the MCs spawn) is a terrible idea.

  11. Not going to vote but here are my opinions:

    • Keep the reward but make it half.
    • Add a bonus experience per kill. For example, if a monster gives me 100/90 a/d points per hit/dodge, the bonus reward would be 1000/900.

I strongly oppose this suggestion for the following reason:

The two things that steal most of my fun from invances currently are:

    1. BJers in a strong sense:

i.e. evil ones: stealing the drops from monsters I kill, while I'm prevented from picking up the bags by either another monster engaging me still or because I killed it with arrows and haven't got to the bag, yet.

    2. unintentional "BJing" / done by game mechanics: fighters attacking the same monster I do and getting the drop because of some really weird math used to determine who gets drop ("most damage"-rule definitely fails for my tests more often than not. First hit and last hit get some undeterminable bonus, but sometimes again not... not really deterministic in my eyes, but that might be just me... :omg: )

I'd call the 2nd phenomenon "kill stealing" (no, I'm not saying those ppl who get the kill are bad or want to do harm in any way...!),

and that phenomenon is exactly what would become worse with your suggestion hussam:

(I suppose) The same formula used to determine who gets drop would be used to determine who gets extra exp-bonus for kill, thus making it even more frustrating for people like archers or tanks or simply a/d-range-beginners who help to kill a lot of monsters but rarely get any drops.

I'll stop babbling now, I guess :lipssealed: As for my vote: it will most likely be No + n/a + n/a because I don't see any changes in those options I'd favor (i.e. find better than things are now).

  12. I don't see how dragons and mixing work together.

I don't see that particular aspext either, but I'm sure we could come up with a creature that would fit the mixing part better... say a wood sprite or imp or whatever tiny creature that (at least in some traditional fairy tales I know) help many a craftsman unseen or at night to get things done faster.

I think radu also already had plans for (little) dragon shapeshifting and what they could do already. Though those seem to have gone by the wayside since phoenix never "took off" (primarily because it's way too expensive for what little it does, too much creature food combined with the relative rarity of the glyphs we thought would become makeable).

I know of at least a few people in game who would immediately start "levelling their phoenix" as soon as the glyphs would become makable in game. They even have all the necessary CF already saved up (or at least part of that), despite its being twice as costly as levelling a mule. So the latter is not the issue I think, neither is the "little it does" - I think it's special enough the way it is :icon13:! IMHO there's no need at all to make it over-powered or even the slightest bit more powerful for it to be fun.

So to make the Phoenix "take off" I suggest to either lower the price of the glyphs from the shop or finally make them mixable - or even better: do both. So people could simply decide whether to spend $ or gc/in-game mixing efforts for them.

... just my spontaneous thoughts on the issue.

  13. Actually I did some extensive testing regarding this very question about 2-3 months back (at that time I hadn't seen this topic on the forum) and from the results I got (with frequent trips to redeemer to check my current numbers) collateral damage DOES NOT COUNT towards MN hates me achievement.

All kinds of (harv event) damage count, mini events count, but NOT damage received through events triggered by others (collateral damage).

At least that was the result of several harvest sessions of mine with extensive logging of events and check runs with redeemer.

I don't know how Zilding experienced what he did experience (I don't doubt his word) but all I can tell from the data I plotted is that collateral damage DOES NOT count (I said that already, didn't I ;) ) ?

  14. Alas, all honor hath flown from some inhabitants of these lands... Never would I have thought of stivy as another new.... uhh another one of those Draians claiming things for unjustifiable times and stealing others' prey.

Dear stivy, I did not wish for this, to be sure, but sadly I shall look upon you with other eyes now... *sighs profoundly and shrugs walking her path in these lands yet another bit more wearily*
