  1. I don't think this is a great idea because it would be more confusing for a lot of people, a level 1 reset isn't going to be able to jump straight back into an instance anyway and it may lead to folk doing resets just so they can go back through the easier instances.

     

    Most players I know (never reset myself) plan ahead for a reset and stockpile the necessary ingredients or items to level back up as quickly as possible, so this in my opinion is a fairly major change so a minority of players don't have to wait a few weeks (if even that??) to start doing instances again.

     

    Using The combat level may mean that players without a pure combat build (mainly pp's spent on P/C) will end up stuck in the same level of instance for far longer. It could also lead to players manipulating their combat level through the use of attribute removal stones in order to stay at the top of a more favourable instance for longer.

    Well I can tell you right now players on the pro instance will not reset, it is very difficult to come back from reset because the mobs that you normally would train on gives you a beating. And the mobs that doesn't inflict so much damage will give very low experience points. Even with preparation it's going to take quite some time. But i do see your logic in the removal stones, which might be cool because they will sell more of them.

     

    This was just an idea, thought i'd at least give it a shot. ;~)


  2. I'm wondering how i'm going to explain the calculation of the combat level to those who ask me which invance they are supposed to join. The former categorizing (a+d)/2 rounded down was somewhat easy, but now i'm in trouble.

    I Believe your combat level is calculated on EL-CEL site. It's also based upon Attributes.

    EL-CEL site is not official. Combat level is a guess (only Radu knows the true formula).

    Yeah that is what others have been telling me in PM but i'm guessing it's close. In order for it to work radu would have to release that formula.


  3. I did a search and I didn't see anybody bring this topic up.

     

    I believe that the instance needs to be revised. It is well known that you need to have required levels to participate in certain instances. What i propose is to change it just a tiny bit. Instead of doing the instances by a level base, possibly do it by a "Combat Level" basis. Not all people participate in the instances because they cannot fend themselves due to a reset and your levels don't change but your capabilities in combat does. You may say : "It was your fault to do the reset," but sometimes it's a must, it's a cheaper way out. What ever the reason is, I think it needs to be changed a smudge.

     

    Post your opinion, maybe you think this is a stupid idea, or maybe it will change your way of playing Eternal Lands. Keep it civil.


  4. Without rules, EL wouldn't happen. We need moderators to enforce these rules, and usually when people get banned or warned about violating the rules they get all pissy about it. Sure, it'd make EL a lot more easier if we could multi; but, in reality it's probably not going to happen. Yes, it would be cool if we could do it, I agree on that, I think what it would come down to is who has the best computer and internet service, lol ;~)

    Was wondering about this today, thought i'd throw this out there.

    Yeah, just about the only thing people get banned for is for illegal multi, however it's quite difficult to run several different characters to do Multi, it would be like a full-time job, if you ask me.

  8. Go to User>Library>Application Support>Eternal Lands

     

    Open EL.ini with textedit.

     

    Scroll down until almost at bottom and look for #use_animation_program= 1

     

    Change the "1" in '#use_animation_program= 1' to a "0"

     

    Save, make sure you don't change anything else.

     

    That should fix it for you :) If not reply back.

     

     

     

    Ya i tried to do what you said and i cant find where the animation thing is at and cant find EL.ini, i found text edit but not that.

    I have the same issue, i've replaced the Animations with 0 - Hey guuess what, nothing changed. so im guessing theres files missing on the Mac version, because all i see on here is; people who are using mac, are having issues... I still havnt fixed mine, last update EL was fine.

    Nevermind. Looks like I need to make a new build. Been away from EL for a bit it seems.

    well i'd like to know when you've finished that build.

     

    Also, right before it crashes, it tries to load the "initializing the Actor Defenitions"....


  10. Do you even make it to the login screen?

    No - as soon as i click the EL Application it starts to load, then it crashes(or shuts down).

     

    I'm not computer smart, i was working on Team Viewer with a friend and he too couldn't figure it out, i've uninstalled it and re installed it 20 times, i'll bet. I'll defenately try again, i might be doing something wrong.

     

    Try the following:

    Delete your personal EL folder (~/Library/Application Support/Eternal Lands) and download the game again.

    If it still crashes, please post the contents of ~/Library/Application Support/Eternal Lands/log/main_xxx.log.

    Hold on, let me try to wrap this around my small little head. You want me to delete Library + Application + support + EL? .

     

    Is this all for el ... I thought that was already ther ;) ....I'm a lost cause lol :) .... I'll give it a shot.

  11. Hey guy's - having an issue, when i attempt to start the EL application it immediately shuts itself down, and get's a message "eternal lands quit unexpectedly" I'm a new mac user so i havn't the slightest clue on how to make this work :P

  12. Ok, I will see if i can find out more. it was given to me by another family member and i really am not sucessful with computers, Yes when typing it results into "Aaaaaa" .. Im sure that is the issue, i have an Apple macbook ill try to get it going, appreciate all the help. I havnt a clue what SDL Libraries are, so ill have to do some research :)

    I thought I saw that caps were lifted in Bethel at the end, when the real baddies/monsters were coming.
