  3. I understand that the new client is in portage now so Gentoo users at least should be OK. I also noticed a 1.8.0 build available as SUSe rpms, so at least some distributions provide EL builds (with a few days delay of course ) link is: EL packages for SUSe (note that these are not official SUSe builds, the repository is referenced by SUSe though)

    but please, give this warning after saving the last image possible (or a few before), don't give it for the first image that cannot be saved... Rather nasty if the shots were taken as proof of serping or rule breaking As another option: have the client create a new directory?

  6. one of the reasons I still make/harvest most of my base ingredients is that I like to end up with a bit more gc than I started with... for instance silver bars take 8 silver ore, 3 coal and 4 FE, total worth 24+6+12 = 42 gc. they sell for about 40 gc. and so on for a lot of other items.. (mercury is nice as well ; 2cinnabar, 1 energy essence for 2 mercury : 11+ gc for 10 gc market value) And note that I did not count in food yet, nor fails...
  7. Emote codes for the client

    if the choice of prefix character is determined by using/not using shift/alt/ctrl keys, please remember that a lot of ppl use non-US keyboard layouts. For me (French azerty), '%', '/', '.' [dot] are shifted, '[' and ']' need the AltGr modifier... So, whichever sign you pick, someone will probably have to use a modifier key to reach it. As for little used signs, I could suggest 'ยค', rarely used for anything
  8. Quite clear. However : 1. There are already clock and compass images with transparent(?) background 2. The clock and compass images are in a bmp file containing several/a lot of other images (gamebuttons2.bmp for the opaque backgrounds, gamebuttons.bmp for transparent backgrounds) and 3. faces for the clock and compass are different between those 2 files. So the solution of creating an alpha map is not really all that evident _in_this_case_
  9. I use a/d indicators regularly, and at fairly regular times. Since a couple of days, they only show neutral astrology for both att and def. I use them (among other times) between 8h and 9h in the morning (GMT+2). Is this pure chance or did something get disconnected during the last update? Or is it a client problem? I'm running a CVS client, downloaded 2008-09-03, around 14:50 (timezone GMT+2). Hope this is enough information

  11. I was training ranging this night, and got 3 levels. However, at reaching each level, EL client crashed with a segfault. I'm using the official client version 1.7 under Linux (SuSE 10.3), with latest NVidia drivers. in /var/log/messages I found this line for each of the 3 crashes : kernel: el.x86.amd64.bi[547]: segfault at ffffff7e00b67b10 rip 000000000051ba6f rsp 00007fffdc196b38 error 4

    Just for clarification : I see ppl referencing to Dekke and MrDekke as the same person/character/player. Are the two names the same player? or the same character?

    Just one remark, using #enemy_combattant is easy, getting rid of it is costly : #enemy_pacifist is listed in the help as costing 50 000 gc And iirc #enemy_combattant stays with you, even when you change guild... Might be nice to add this as a warning to the initial post for the less experienced players
  18. Level dependant potions

    In addition, high levels are already 'rewarded' by a lower fail rate, which can save quite a bit of money/time, esp. for higher level items (e.g. seridium bars, or even gold bars). Is there really a need to skew the game in favour of high level players?

    Another possibility might be screen shots of logs in console mode. I know this is not ideal (no automatic timestamps for one), but such screen shots can be made (much) later in the same session, and are a lot harder to fake. Also, one can add a timestamp by clicking on on-screen clock as soon as one realises what happens. I agree that screen shots of the 'crime in progress' are best, but difficult for some : e.g. under linux the hotkey isn't configured, so atm I have to use an external program; by the time I've started that, the scene has changed

I could start writing tests, (e.g. for the calc section), if ppl would find that useful for further development. In that case, some hints for interesting modules would also be appreciated revi

  24. I get weird flickering on at least some water surfaces when using water shader == 0, this disappears when setting water shader to 1 or 2. Got the impression that others have the same problem, but cannot use the higher shaders. Worth looking into (I'm willing to do so)? revi
  25. Hi, when using water shader 1 or 2, I get a black sky when turning the frame buffer on. I do get a 'correct' sky reflected in the water though Frame buffer OFF gives me a blue sky, but the reflections get very dark. This seems independant of the map (C1 tested only). Other issue: the sky reflection covers the full water surface, including areas reflecting e.g. rocks Is this a bug, or inherent in the way reflections are treated? sysinfo: OS Linux (SuSE 10.3), graphics NVidia GeForce 8400 GS , w. vendor driver version 169.12, openGL version 2.1.2 EL client version 1.6.0, (latest CVS) regards, revi
