  1. horses

    As a fyi, horse whistles were originally a NPC item but were removed due to lack of use according to this update post. I believe the reason they weren't really used was due to the fact that when they did give a speed bonus they also used creature food to ride and many felt the cost was to high for the slight bonus they gained from the horse. Creature food was also relatively new at the time iirc so not many had much stockpile in it and most was being used for mule lvling. Atm they are just pretty and do nothing, I've ridden them around just for fun on some of the maps newbies visit and some people didn't even know they where available. I've heard rumors of being able to fight on horseback someday that would be cool. If you could use them for more then just looking pretty, without high costs involved or a benefit that made the cost worth it, I think more would buy them from the shop. I'm sure even if it didn't change your stats at all being able to fight on horseback would be fun for pker's/trainers on occasion, maybe for a contest, fun, or just to flaunt wealth in KF.

    Or a way that you could define an arena on your guild map that ignores guild status etc. that way it is a "safe" place and yet you can stay in the guild with out leaving and joining every few days.

Where half the "players" are the same players and the other half are bots!" and "Be yourself but try not to get hit by the ban hamz0r"...link to unofficial forums? What was the topic of this thread again? While I respect the notion that people can have whatever opinion they want, maybe some thought about what the goal is would be a good idea before some people open their mouths and think they're funny. This would have been a good idea if people who actively play and enjoy the game made the account and ran it. I didn't make the group i just posted the link. If game creators came up with an official page then i would be there but i'm not aware of one. I think that's what some people here are saying. Take advantage of these free social media things to help promote the game. Maybe ask for an active volunteer(s) (maybe even people who created that page if they are still active) from the EL community to help promote the game on these kinds of sites that works with game creators and is answerable to them but then Radu and co. don't have to be directly over the implementation but still benefit from the PR. Some tips might be give aways specific to the media site listed, they don't have to be big just keep people checking back and inviting others to join in the fun. IE: Facebook post: First person to pm Aislinn in game gets a free horse whistle. Simple, cheap, keeps people checking the page or signing up for tweets etc. and if you allow Fans to post similar things it becomes more active and the more of those fans friends see the info through commenting or sharing the post etc. Post links to the official pages on the EL homepage, everywhere I go now I see the F button or the t button to sign up to follow whatever. anyways my 2 platinum coins worth
  5. Update 190 preliminary test

    So I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem or not since I updated yesterday my A/D indicator has stayed at 0. I've checked it several hours apart and on the test server. The other indicators appear to be working as far as I can tell. (they seem to move and are different on main vs. test server.) Didn't know if this would be affected by the update but as they were working before that i assume it has something to do with it. Otherwise things have been normal and enjoying what I've seen so far. Computer info listed below.

  7. Anitmated npc storys

    I think that animated movements are in the works for both characters and for NPC's so that when you talk to them they will wave etc. as far as a movies, in most games those are pre-made and take up space increasing download time. If you start doing this with every quest EL download size starts increasing dramatically i'd rather keep it simple. I think the movements coming will be nice and not take up loads of extra space.

    New Phoenix shapeshifting looks cool, can't wait to try it out. Question though is it like the mule and no armor can be worn while in phoenix form? anyways looking forward to getting my hands on a glyph and checking it out.
  9. New features for quest log

    Would it be possible to change the color of the text in each quest for faster browsing? Like: Tutorial Novac Ring of Power That way the user can assign a quest a color and find it fast on the list if they are doing multiple quests at once. Didn't know if it was possible as it might be server side but thought I'd throw it out there. Edit: Possibly like the way you can change friends names on your buddy list.

    Really, humm I make my own. anyways I would make Heaven Spawn meds if there was demand but have never been asked for one or heard someone ask for one. I think price is ok as it is a luxury since the person took the perk knowing the possible consequences. but if changing the formula to tin bars would increase demand i would be for it and would make them.

    I like Korrode's above idea. of course anything that improves guild benefits i'm for ;D Might be interesting if based on your lvl if you do re-spawn when you die you do explosive damage on enemies nearby. dunno about chances or amount but since phoenix are born of fire would make sense and gives a benefit to fight till you die in phoenix form.
  12. NPCs

    I voted second option, I like the npcs they have added flavor to the game. I talked to the NPC in the crafting temple and now I wear red!! so it has even change my ingame behavior somewhat. On above quote I also really liked the quest system in the above game and if i'm not mistaken the quests didn't show up in the panel until you found the npc you needed to talk to. There were a few ongoing quests that really never left your panel but all side quests you had to find and start yourself, but you weren't required to do them at all unless you talked to the person you could even decline the quest and then just go about your day killing monsters. I'm not saying EL has to copy that system exactly but I do think it is a very successful quest tracking design, in EL if I do more then one quest at once it sometimes takes me a bit to find the last quote in the quest log that I need to reference. But i also use pen and paper at the moment in EL (or the note feature built into the game.) Edit: Spelzingz
  13. Token system and daily chance

    Like this idea, always have. 1. players can sell tokens to each other for gc removing the "i can't use paypal" whining (perhaps only a certain type of token can be traded among players that costs slightly more? limits abuse with alts dunno) 2. if you have a random chance to get a "token" every week or whatever (maybe tie in somehow with OA or skill leveling, but also like the chance thing listed above) Then you have some in storage. If you have say 5 and something costs 15 people are sure to "impulse buy" more tokens. I'm always finding myself thinking about purchasing some in the other free games like farmville, PW, and ninja warz, why not EL? 3. Being able to purchase these tokens and other shop items with an ingame menu would defiantly cause both EL membership and revenue to go up imo. 4. Specials can be offered in the shop like flowers at valentines day etc. then removed allowing some things to be cheap but still rare as they are offered only sometimes, and in off times only available from players that have them in sto. (some items might even only be offered for like a month and then not ever again or not for a very long time, giving the person that bought them a nice investment long term.) -bots though i think should remain off this system and only purchasable through the website, perhaps there are some other items like this.

Based on Handy's post above maybe what you should consider then is this: (I'm not sure how much control Ent. gives you on promoting the PK server this way but here it is) A)Create your own page completely separate from the standard EL Page with your own Download/Information that includes the already modified start up for loading directly to PK server(although I saw in programming forum Ent. wanted a log in screen to choose between servers so this might be obsolete soon dunno.) -In this you can refer to EL but don't focus on things like "we are the same as EL except we have no cooldown" etc, Just promote your server like it's a game in and of itself not directly linked to EL, Link to your forums here on that site, your active players page, bots pages on hosted bots etc. B)Have your own shop page (that still pays Ent. somehow) -I have never liked the layout of the EL shop page it does not promote easy access for anything and has no standard input layout like enter your ingame name here or log in with your user name to purchase as most sites do. C)Find some ways to cheaply advertise the PK server on sites marketing it as a different game linking to your above newly made site. make you tube video, find friends with webcomics, post on facebook/twitter, post it on MMO websites separately from the EL posts, whatever just link it and actively promote it like a marketing campaign. This might include giving away some of the orphaned accounts you've recently acquired to perk peoples interest, or try it free for two weeks with those accounts if you can set up something with Ent. on that front. -Might have to spend some of your own gc here as to get it going but i wouldn't spend to much, there are many cheap ways with social media to promote these things. It will be hard I think as you don't currently have a sizable player base to draw from that people will want to pay to play with out knowing what they are getting in to. Which is why you mainly draw from the main server atm. But if you make it attractive to play you can gain players. That's why I suggest two week free trials etc. like other major games do WoW etc. but you will have to have a way to regulate it (lock the account if no fee paid after trial etc.). This doesn't change the game play at all and no major server rewrites just some things you can do to promote the server as you say title. Edit: You might also consider coming up with a name other then just: t3h pk server
  15. Possible suggestion, If you want people to be able to actually PK faster then is it possible to double the xp from A/D only? This would allow those skills alone to lvl much faster then the others allowing people to "get in the battle". Other skills should stay the same though as that is not the focus. dunno just a toss out there and see what you think about it, takes some challenge out of the actual a/d lvling but if your drawing people from the main server it allows them to feel as though it's not another 2 years before they can stand on level ground with others already on server. Then if they choose they can lvl the other skills or just kill for resources and trade with mixers/guild as it really should be.
  16. Depends on the size of the meat too I like me some McFeran Nuggets. But yeah 10 is pry to many at once unless some sort of time delay is added like with cooldowns on potions etc.

    Seriously I looked at this area in map editor after I saw this post, I think it would take about 5 min. to fix. At least after doing my guild map it would take me about that long. It's not that complicated, De-select walking square north side->move rock north->select square for walking on south side, done, print, no resource changing, nothing else would need to move all the bots would still be ok, the council for promotion of keeping the rock would still be happy and people could then walk side by side in peace to the storage holding hands, newbies would marvel at the glorious map that is NC and buy rostos from the shop. That or implement pie into the game pie solves everything......

    Is there a rule against having a guild with levels under 40? Well there is a rule about creating a guild and having to have a skill of 39 other then OA, at least that's what it says next to the #make_guild command in the encyclopedia, but apparently you can own the guild with less skill then that. I think that was the confusion earlier. Seems all solved now tho

    You did change the name and have to deal with that, but I also have to wonder if this is allowable: Kime This player obviously does not have the stats to create a guild, unless you don't really need a lvl 39 other then overall to create a guild. Could this mean the guild was created by another player and passed to this character? Is that possible? If we are going to let anyone create a guild at any time then we should change the encyclopedia to say so......
  21. Yes I know Necro......But I used search button!!!!! mods will be happy Anyways was reading several of these old postings on cooked meat. I like to use them for low level items but do find it a pain to click so many times to make. Learner pointed out above that the client/server only recognizes one use with item per click sooooo combining that with other postings on using the frying pan (other threads) would it be possible to: Click use with Frying pan on fire? Then if you have meat in your inventory it cooks 5 or 10? 10 might be to many but 5 would be slightly less annoying then having to click twice to make one cooked meat. And you would have to have at least the amount say 5 meat in your inventory otherwise you would get a message like "You don't have enough meat!!1!" But I'm also interested in Roja's holding another key down to not have to constantly click the use with on the meat then the fire. Either way would be an improvement and I don't think it would ruin the economy to do this. Might even see the sale of cooked meat go up. Also frying pan could break if that's possible to do randomly with the use with function dunno. there ya go my 2gc
  22. Would there be a way for the client to recognize if you had been logged in in say the last 2 min(maybe longer)? That way if you had been logged in with in that time period cooldown applies so that there is no abuse but if you haven't cooldown does not apply until you use an object. This may be extra coding that doesn't affect to many people but might be nice. But if at all possible you should choose a safe log out place. tavern rooms are there for a reason
  23. Possible Spells

    Ok was thinking the other day (i know dangerous right?) anyways came up with some possible spells: Defense Bubble: Temporarily creates a bubble (all spaces around you) around you in which you cannot be attacked physically but can be attacked magically, pushes creatures away. casting this spell with cause Magic Immunity to end if you have it active on yourself. Spell cool down is 10 sec with this spell(maybe?) Effect duration is based on magic lvl and rationality. Magic Lvl-? Sigils-Create, Temporary, Air, Protection Ess- Magic ess and Air ess (amount tbd) Mana- 50? Uses:Escape a horde of creature in an invasion, refill your mana real quick, etc. Bubble Breaker: Destroys enemies Defense Bubble but also drops your Magic Immunity. Magic lvl- +5 lvls above Defense bubble requirement Sigils-Destroy, Magic, Air, Protection Ess- Magic, Air, Death? mana- 55? Uses: mostly pk to drop someones bubble. Remote Renewal: Remotely heals up to 3 nearby targets 10hp every 15 sec. Spell consumes 1 HE and 3 mana every 15 seconds until it is ended either by casting another defensive spell or HE/mana runs out. Can only be cast on others not the caster. Magic Lvl- 75? Sigils-Increase, Global, Health, Protection Ess- 20 magic ess to cast plus 1 HE every 15 sec. Mana- 45 to cast plus 3 mana every 15 sec. Uses: group fighting with a mage becomes more possible They pry need some tuning let me know what you think Edit:speslslsing
  24. Possible Spells

    Not sure what is possible with engine. This would be nice to be like the 9 squares around you pushing or tele the monsters/players to nearby available squares, but might have to be just the square your on. other then those in your own guild being able to be in bubble i don't know if it's possible since EL doesn't have a secondary party system that would allow for the inclusions of others in your bubble. That being said could lead to some nice guild fighting strategy if it is possible to have secondary persons in your bubble, groups could restock mana while others fight etc. But those included in your bubble would have to be standing next to you when spell was cast. Possibly, it could require more mana to include someone else in the bubble if that is possible to program, # of people increases the amount of mana by X amount per person up to 9 people if it can be cast on the 9 squares around you. I think easiest way to do this would be if they attack or cast while in your bubble it drops the bubble around both of you, since it is in theory a defensive only spell and would need a counter to drop it early if an attack was initiated. I think it would be overpowered if you could have someone in with you that could attack and have no consequence. Right , or target someone with bow etc.

    I think this is an awesome idea i'm all about anything quests -maybe a sigil you can only get after you have completed a quest?
