  1. Flash+"resync With Server"=unplayable

Entropy, Could it be all the bots that are causing the lag or is that not possible?? that is assuming the server is the one lagging? Any way I can see who is the one lagging behind??
  2. Flash+"resync With Server"=unplayable

Ok I have tried it has lessoned slightly the number of resncs happening but it definetly is not the solution values tried: 50,30,20 on the limiting to the FPS ok so its a matter of the servers hitting a sturation point then??
  3. To give a hardware perspective I have this amd64 3200 1Gig eccddr memory 5700 nvidia ultra video card(128meg mem) Hard drive is on the SATA bus high speed internet connect All of a sudden I am getting "resync with server..." right out of the game. I and a freind are both getting so many resync with server that we are having difficulty playing the game. Today it was like trying to play a combination of "disco dance" meets "the flash" click a bunch of times and hope something was happening then wait to see the result. If you where lucky and closely watching you saw it otherwise, there was a blur and time to click again. I also noticed my FPS going through the ceiling I was pushing around 290 FPS average when this was at the most anoying. I saw another post here http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7263 that mentioned a way to limit the FPS so will try that to see if any affect. Not sure if the FPS is causing an issue or the result of some other issue.

I apprecited the help. I see from discussion there is a need for map people. I used to make dnd maps for campaigns I DM'd proably not up to what you guys do, but I'd be tempted to try, but I don't see map editor where I was told it would be?? Someone told me it was in the eternal-lands directory assuming that means /usr/share/games/eternal-lands/ directory? Is this a windows only case maybe?? Is it in a different spot in linux(gentoo)??
  5. Running El On A Amd64 Bit Machine

Yurika After reading your posts(Wytter, Leelo) I remember the very 1st install of gentoo before I roached it. When I put Xorg on it asked me refresh rates etc. I went back to the Xorg config doc the last time when I installed xorg I did the Xorg -configure which did NOT ask refresh it automagically configured it for me. This method is billed as the Default: Automatic Generation of xorg.conf way to make it. So this time instead of that I ran the xorgconfig which is listed as the Semi-Automatic Generation of xorg.conf it asked me the refresh rates and other info and with 2 manual alterations I have applied and it seems to be functional glxinfo gives info not an error Running el Thats was it. I saw some of what appeared to be errors, but I now have a screen that asks me username/password plus login/create character. Hmm now I need to know the gamet. ok creating a character worked no problem, walking around and everything. I am in a small terminal window but I can see things. Amd64 works at least no problems so far. my new /ext/X11/xorg.conf looks like thsi now Section "Module" Load "dbe" # Double buffer extension Load "type1" Load "speedo" Load "freetype" # Load "xtt" # This loads the GLX module Load "glx" # This loads the DRI module # Load "dri" EndSection Section "Files" RgbPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/misc/" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/TTF/" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/Speedo/" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/Type1/" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/CID/" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/75dpi/" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/100dpi/" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/local/" ModulePath "/usr/X11R6/lib/modules" #I had to manually uncomment this line EndSection # ********************************************************************** # Server flags section. # ********************************************************************** Section "ServerFlags" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Keyboard1" Driver "Keyboard" Option "AutoRepeat" "500 30" Option "XkbRules" "xorg" Option "XkbModel" "pc104" Option "XkbLayout" "us" EndSection # ********************************************************************** # Core Pointer's InputDevice section # ********************************************************************** Section "InputDevice" # Identifier and driver Identifier "Mouse0" Driver "mouse" Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2" Option "Device" "/dev/input/mouse0" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" # Mouse-speed setting for PS/2 mouse. # Option "Resolution" "256" EndSection # ********************************************************************** # Monitor section # ********************************************************************** # Any number of monitor sections may be present Section "Monitor" Identifier "EV700" HorizSync 31.5 - 64.3 VertRefresh 50-120 EndSection # ********************************************************************** # Graphics device section # ********************************************************************** # Standard VGA Device: Section "Device" Identifier "Standard VGA" VendorName "Unknown" BoardName "Unknown" Driver "vga" EndSection # Device configured by xorgconfig: Section "Device" Identifier "GeForce FX 5700 Ultra" Driver "nvidia" VideoRam 131072 # Insert Clocks lines here if appropriate EndSection # ********************************************************************** # Screen sections # ********************************************************************** Section "Screen" Identifier "Screen 1" Device "GeForce FX 5700 Ultra" Monitor "EV700" DefaultDepth 24 Subsection "Display" Depth 8 Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" ViewPort 0 0 EndSubsection Subsection "Display" Depth 16 Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" ViewPort 0 0 EndSubsection Subsection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" ViewPort 0 0 EndSubsection EndSection # ********************************************************************** # ServerLayout sections. # ********************************************************************** Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "Simple Layout" Screen "Screen 1" InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer" InputDevice "Keyboard1" "CoreKeyboard" EndSection # Section "DRI" # Mode 0666 # EndSection

Actually I do have the "glx" in. I also found a blurb saying DRI should be commented out which I din't have but that made no difference either. I do notcie your nvidai section is a much larger than mine and wonder if all of that is to do with the make of your card or if that may be part of the issue. Since it seems likely this is a X issue here is my /etc/X11/xorg.conf. 8. Running El On A Amd64 Bit Machine

Ok I added ~amd64 and emerged it. The emerge seemed successful, but running el appeared at 1st to have nothing happen. Thinking maybe it had to have a custom file suggested by the install I copied as directed. Looking in the folder after I ran that and tried again twice I found the error log and it had these messages Now I am running an nvidia video card and did do the emerge nvidia-glx emerge nvidia-kernel opengl-update nvidia as the gentoo docs instructed me to do. I am on the latest nvidia for and amd64 machine 1.0.6111 I am running xorg as xfree is deprecated on the amd64 tree I am using gnome, I am running a pure udev system. sorry if I seem dumb but I am learning. I don't think I am doing to bad for not using linux on a box till week before last. I plan to learn quickly. So what am I missing ?? something simple I hope?
  9. Ok 1st if I am posting in the wrong place apologise I am an old hand at ms windows but totally new to linux I just installed a stage 1 gentoo on my amd box last week. What I am wondering is if eternal lands is compatible with a 64bit architecture I saw the post about eternal lands going into portage but only under the one Keyword. I am willing to test and give you any info you need so you could make this work on amd64 machine. Although you would have to tell what and how to get said info. PS I do also have Windows XP 64 bit Beta dual-booting on this box so I can run a couple progs that I like in windows so I can probably give you feedback on that too if you'd like to be sure it would run there also.
