  1. update nvidia graphic 169.07

Win2k SP4, 1 Gig RAM, Nvidia 6600LE PCI-Express 256mb Current Driver Version: 93.71 (came with card, install cd) I had tried to beta drivers, forceware, with some improvement in performance. I was doing some testing/diagnostics, to see what the best perfromance I can get from the game. This seemed to be most stable, not with just this game, but others as well. I dont overclock anything, as I choose reliability over speed, but, I tried a few things. The discovery in which I found (for this game): In choosing from the pre-configured profiles, the best one I have found sofar, is GLStress. With doing this, the game performance has significantly increased. I dont generally see any gfx anomalies or distortions, but there was one. Strange vert/hori white lines, displayed within the general viewing area. I encountered this, with GLStress and reflections turned on. That being, the only thing I see, with that profile selected. This was a one time occurance, so the update may have fixed it. I have kept the setting on GLStress with no problems, in which, with deafult settings, the game doesnt perform quite as well. Well famed CoolBits, works for most situations, where performance vs. stable is an issue. The option to see the GL tweaks/settings is enabled. (you have to check with your unique card) I am not suggesting overclock, infact, I am suggest NOT to overclock. CoolBits just makes the options available. Linux users, not sure this will work on your machine, so you are on your own with that. WARNING: dont play with overclock settings if you dont know what you are doing, as it can damage your video card, beyond repair.
  2. an ANT bag-jumped me

those dirty little rotten.. stinking, kiniving, bag-jumping little... anyone happen to have any RAID? i was in Desert Pines, gathering branches. i dropped my bag, so i could go beat the heck out of a wolf, with a wooden hammer. it only took a fraction of a second, and that ANT was on that bag like flies on .... someone has to do something about this ANT infestation. RAID sold in the EL store ? these things are like Roggger Clemmmens on roids. 103 million mile an hour fast-bag-jumper... ball i tried to talk to the ANT, pretty much all i got was this auto-message, when all it was really saying is: "thx for your hard work, dont think i will ever give your things back, cause i am not. dont waste your time telling my mommy, cause she is an ANT to " i attempted to start a trade, to no avail, no branches in window. not like it was happy enough with 300 branches, but but noooooooooo, that isnt enough. more more more. greedy little monsters. EL please make RAID available as a new item. these ANT's are really "buggin" me. and oh... could you make that in 16oz version. i dont think a 4oz version of it is enough to even bother them much, as they probably drink it while off-duty, hiding in some back room, IP Rat Cave, getting thier kicks off, reminissin about all the bags they jumped, and who got the biggest bag-jump of them all. (i am sure the "fish stories" in this gathering spot, are all too common) who knows what else these little demons are capable of? next thing you know, they will be pickin pockets, or pillaging storage, or even, riding bikes for fast get-aways, beating on old ladies, and stealing thier pocketbooks. where does this chaos end? ANT's should be "outlaw" or out-law-dead if not that, atleast a leash-law. now come on, branches are a "dime a dozen", but, YOU sit there for 8 hours, pickin branches, branches pickin you, only to have some dirty rotten stinkin little demon steal your bag, just cause u left for a second. P.S. just the note : just the gist
  3. Been studying this issue for a while now. (still not done) This happens pretty much every time Grue wants to have lunch with me. I see the LAN spit and sputter, the game stops responding, Grue pays for dinner. I have done some tests and diagnostics. For the most part, the imformation is way to much to post, so I will save you a visit to the eye doctor. Aside the millions of packets, and net/system diagnostics, is a more easily understood way of showing it: Pinging 192.168.x.x with 32 bytes of data: Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Reply from 192.168.x.x: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.x.x: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.x.x: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.x.x: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.x.x: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=64 At the point at which the connection is resumed, is where I manually close EL (end task) ALT + X does not work the same. (it either tries to connect, or completely drops Gateway) At the point of the Gateway being dropped, the norm: Media Disconnected If i manually close EL client, by way of End Task, I can save the Media Disconnect from happening. Typically associated with this incident is the log of one of the following, not both same time: 1. Passed Null Mutex (most often) 2. Error creating buffer: Invalid Operation (and) stop_stream - Error stopping stream - error: Invalid Value Another situation I encounter is that the network bandwidth is narrowed. My best estimate on narrowed-to ? dialup (I have broadband) By starting download prior to game, the speeds are normal. When the game is launched, the bandwidth is extremely low (up and down netpipe) Along with the issues above, I get the accompanying "mal-formed packets" (packet analyzer) Granted, analyzer's arent perfect, as they dont correctly identify what the dissector is doing. If you really want to go blind, take a look at the packet info, but, I wont torture you like that. I also did some tests on what files are being accessed and modified, once the game is started. Quite the activity. For the most part, files being accessed from a location that, by default, doesnt contain them, and the need to find them in the secondary location, is the result of this. Most all the files being accessed, seem to be for future use, in which I can understand why this may be. One last point, in which I cant be sure is associated with this, but, here goes: CPU spike to 100% -> SERVICES.EXE (very very rare, but I did catch a few of them) This is clean install Windows 2000 Professional/SP4/DX 9/Nvidia 6600LE/AMD64 (recent install as of last week) I had the same type issues (with exception to Passed Null Mutex/Update), as before I wiped the drive. I tried both with/without sound enabled in game, and soundcard disabled from system. (same results) The only game I have installed on this machine is EL. I run no accelerators, or, any such caching/enhancing applications. Maybe it seems like a long post, but if you really want to know, this is merely a small fraction of it. My objective for this post is to let you know what is going on, in hopes, it can help the DEV's. If there is any information that you need/request, please let me know. P.S. if you need to move this to another section please do, or let me know. Thank You
  4. Video Extensions test

    scratching head now Scrapping suggestion.
  5. petition for attributes cap

Very interesting Arbitrage: "so limiting these attributes only compresses this gradient . " Only emphasizes the fact of "team-work" in fighting off the invaders. The "big-guys" will more need the help from the "little-guys" more often. I like your post. I help when i can in invasions, but PK, no. The insane-levels sit there all day, just to kill another not-so-insane level. It really is discouraging. With the new PK pointing system (I think is intact) , they will only sit there more often, knowing they will get even more rewards for a no-competion situation.
  6. petition for attributes cap

I agree, that without a cap, the "invincible" high level players, will only take losses due to grue. But, on the other hand, a good amount of them, have been there from the start, so treating them like legends, might not be so bad. (give them a special cape? compromise?) If infact, there was never a cap, the players that have insane levels, would really have no competion, and, no real goal, other than to knock down yet another dragon with increasing ease. This is past the era of PacMan, where all you need to do, is remember the pattern, and you join the 10 million other players on the same high score. (prob more than that) With most games, 99 or 100 is top level. Signifying 100% completion of the level. I do agree, that it may pick up the PK'ing, although I dont PK. As, i do agree that it will force players to use thier pick points more thoughtfully. As it is now, all I see people talk about is A/D and P/C. I think that in itself tells the story. (the other attributes are left as "not important enough") 48? no comment. I really dont know how that was derived. (no pun intended) Cap/NoCap ? hmmm got me on that one.
  7. Missile implementation on the client

I was thinking about the way you click. More than one click, does seem a little unordained. Just a suggestion on how the clicking may work. (as i have seen it in other games of this type_ How about using the "hold /release" button option ? ie: hold button (initiate load bow) when target is available for attack (possible succeed on target hit (no obstacles)) server sends ok <indent>target aquirable then cursor changes to "flash mode" or some icon to signify ready for release button realease (if aquirable and arrow loaded, initiate attack sequence) I liked the way that Entropy laid out the possible sequences. (1,2,3,4) Being that you may beed the server to "OK" the possibilty of launch. the hold button may give some time to return an "OK" to the client, so when ready (flash icon/ready icon), the player can release the button. If there was the fact that the target was not able to be fired on (obstacles and such), then, the icon may be a red X (or some icon signifying not possible). That way, when they release the button, they are notified that the shot cant be made, or the character returns to a "normal" state. As far as implimenting this into code, seems to be more the if/then/goto scenario. The idea that not everyone is 100ms away, I know all too well. Including the idea that there may be lossy networks, may be a thought, but, I woudlnt take away the speed/response of the game for a few players. I hope this may help some. Its my 2 cents worth. P.S. the sound packs send the game into a whole new level of playing experience.(thanks)
  8. Summoners events

I like the idea of this event-type. I did notice a stage in WSC, is there any need for this stage? Can it contain the summons without going into the crowd ? Could it be used for similiar events ? The auditorium look sounds nice. Much like the Romans had, to hold battles. Is this something that could be made possible? (summon or other) I think it would be good for newcomers to see events in such places (very visible), and be safe in watching, Summons are always fun. I am not that high a level, but I really like to summon. Just brainstorming. Thank you Kheres, for suggesting such a nice idea.
  9. Passed an NULL mutex

Dont happen to have .NET IDE installed on this machine, nor, do I have the librairies installed. Not very good with C besides,as , I stick with Visual side. Quick search on mutex: h???://research.microsoft.com/invisible/tests/syncro/cb.c.htm h???://www.open-std.org/jtc1/sc22/wg21/docs/papers/2006/n2043.html#NullMutex h???://search.msdn.microsoft.com/search/Default.aspx?brand=msdn&query=Null%20Mutex (hope linking is allowed, as, the forum rules page is "broken or out of date") I am getting very similiar results (and very similiar conditions) as above has commented. Win2k SP4 ISP will be trashed soon.
  10. Update 1.5.0 fixes

Temporary relocate quickbar fix. Windows 2000 SP4 Nvidia GeForce 6600 LE / PCI-Express x16 / ForceWare Version 94.24 Game Video Settings: 1024x768x16 error_log.txt clean Had issue where quickbar wouldnt go back to original spot, after moving it. Farthest I could get it to go is half over the magic quicklinks. Simple temp fix: Options/HUD, un-tick Relocate Quickbar. Quickbar returns to "home" position. Re-tick as needed. Did same thing (and fixed the same) in full screen and windowed mode.
