  3. A Strange New Life

A Strange New Life She sat confused, huddled in on herself beside a roaring campfire. She had no idea how she had come to this strange land full of strange people. She didn’t even know who she was. Her mind was blank. She softly wept, her misery and loneliness apparent to the hulking figure on the other side of the fire. He rose to his full height and moved to sit beside her. She grew anxious as he sat. Something about his long snow white hair pierced by sky-blue horns filled her with dread. She was sure she had never seen anyone like him before. As she looked at him a name came to her, “Torix”. She wasn’t sure how she knew this but she was sure that this was his name. “What frets you little human?” he asked in a booming voice. “I don’t know. Everything is so strange. I don’t where I am. I don’t know who I am,” she sobbed loudly as she burst into tears. A look of understanding crossed his saturnine visage. “Ease your mind little human,” he told her. “You are new here and know not the ways of Draia.” Puzzled she asked, “Draia?” He laughed heartily, the sound rumbling out of his chest and washing in waves over her. “Draia is the planet you are on. It is actually a moon. But still we Draians like to call it a planet. You are on Isla Prima which is one of the territories of the continent of Seridia. All people new to Draia first appear on Isla Prima.” “But how did I get here? Why me??” the young human asked. He frowned in puzzlement and then responded, “It matters not who or what you were. All that matters is you are here now and what you will become is up to you. To know your past you must go and speak to Lasud. She can tell you how to discover what you were. Before you do that you would be wise to speak to The Wraith and to Tutorial NPC. They will start you on your new life.” He paused for a moment and then smiled at her. She sat there wondering which of the many questions she had to ask him. He suddenly stood up and seemed to be staring at something over her head. She looked up but saw nothing. His eyes widened and he leant over her. “I’m sorry but I must go. There is a massive invasion on Irillion and my guild calls to me for aid in the battle. Go now and talk to The Wraith and to Tutorial NPC. Any questions you have will be answered if you just speak them out loud.” He smiled at her and then slipped a ring on his finger. With a flash of swirling light he disappeared. “Invasion?? What invasion?” the young human asked aloud. Like a lightening bolt the knowledge of what the invasion was filled her mind. “Where is The Wraith?” she queried. An image of a ghostly figure flashed through her brain as well as coordinates. Her feet moved and she walked directly to The Wraith. She spoke to The Wraith and he called her “Enera”. At last she knew her name. After talking to The Wraith, Enera felt stronger and wiser. She turned from his spectral presence and saw close by the one called Tutorial NPC. He sent her on quests to find flowers and to hunt small animals and to scout out the nearby land. As she learned and grew stronger she came to love her new home. Standing on the boat sailing for Whitestone, she smiled widely and her eyes gleamed with excitement as she began her strange new life.

  5. Recent Medical Article

article from the Draia Associated Medical Professional Gazette The Effects of Toadstool Consumption on the Elven Brain by Dr. Wascal E Wabbett, Chairman, Hulda Psychiatric Research Center The toxicity of the general variety toadstool has been long known by the medical community. Many residents of Hulda and other nations have been "experimenting" with the eating of toadstools for generations. Usually, after their first poisoning, these very rational people stop eating toadstools. This is not the case with Elves. Rather than acting as a general poison, toadstool toxins, when introduced to the Elven physiology, react more as neurotoxins. These neurotoxins seem to induce a sense of euphoria and invulnerability to any Elf who consumes them. Consequently, Elves tend to crave toadstools the more they get poisoned. In short, toadstools are highly addictive to Elves. Furthermore, long term toadstool abuse leads to various psychiatric problems. The "toad eater" or "toad sucker" is generally inflicted with paranoia. This paranoia, somewhat delusional in nature, leads the Elf to conclude that there is a conspiracy against them. They refuse to accept that their destinies are in the hands of the Gods. Rather, they believe they are controlled by things called "the random generator" and "the AI". Toad addicted Elves are often heard to say things such as "the random generator is broken" and "the AI is out to get me". As well as paranoia, most toad addicted Elves are highly delusional. This often leads them into dangerous situations and to engage in questionable activities. On a recent trip to the Hulda National Bestiary two incidents occured that illustrate this point. One of my patients approached a Feros and called him a "good doggy". The patient then attempted to engage the Feros in a game of fetch. The patient was unfortunately mauled to death. Another patient grabbed a Yeti around the waist in a rather unseemly tight embrace. The patient then said, "A bunny wabbit of my very own, I will hug him and squeeze him and call him George". Fortunately for that patient the Yeti's name was George and he took no offense at the personal liberities taken of him. All attempts at rehabilation have proven fruitless. Rather than burdening society with these mindless creatures, we have found useful employment for them. They make excellent Fluffy bait. That having been said, I have 24 Elves for sale to any of my fine colleagues in Grubani.

  9. Man (player) eating leopard

I spend a lot of time on c2.. harving and mixing etc. I am not a fighter. The idea of a man eating leonard the leopard roaming around scares the ears of my pretty little elf head. BUT.... It is a good idea. Its interesting and adds an element of danger. There are ways for us poor weak harvers and mixers to get around the beastie. We need to travel in groups of 4 or more. Walk together, harv together, mix together.. and in groups ppl can still go afk to deal with rl. Instead of talking about how do kill the thing maybe we should be discussing a nice safe place for ppl to gather so they can form harving parties???
  10. Journey of a warrior

ummmm lmfao lol boy am i glad we're allies!!!
  11. Journey of a warrior

  13. I went to the Zirakinbar bookseller to buy a frying pan book. I paid my 8k gc..it left my inventory. The book did NOT go into my inventory. I tried the npc again but he just wanted to sell me more books. I looked around. Didn't see a drop bag so I left the shop. When I left a msg came up "don't forget your books" What did I miss??? A guildie of mine went to the same npc and bought the same book... he got it in his inv. Oh and in case it makes a difference.. I do not have the antisocial perk
  14. Your personal moment of glory

LOL me pro??? nope.... it just made me happy that someone didnt think I was a noob. I can pretty much guarantee I will never be a pro fighter lol I get bored after an hr of killing things.
  15. Your personal moment of glory

To show what a noob I am... My personal moment of glory... the first time someone apologized for calling me a noob:)
  16. Making maps more used..

I have an idea to get more ppl to c2 and it requires absolutely no programming. Events!!!! Have more events taking place on various parts of c2. I dont mean the usual "manhunt" kind either. There could be tag events.. scavenger hunts.. hunting a particular beastie or monster etc. My other idea would require programming... resources. As an example... the new tailoring skill has lots of new potential things to make. How bout adding ummm feather or fur dying. Add a new animal or two on some of these maps that drop fur or feathers specifically for the tailoring skill. This would also require new books, take more gc out of the game and we players could have some really interesting clothing. If every c2 map had at least one resource not available anywhere else in Draia that would take care of the low population of c2. But please don't do that... its just an idea and one I dont want u taking seriously lol.
  17. Thank you!

I meant literally. And yes I know this is an old thread... I entered kindness into the search engine and this thread popped up. So if we can have an entire forum dedicated to outlaws why not a forum for the good ppl ... the ones that actually make EL pleasant to play? Let's face it.. if everyone in EL was a creep it would be a lot less populated and there would be no Outlaws forum cuz everyone would be one. And maybe just maybe, if there was a thread dedicated to those who are plain old fashioned courteous and nice and kind there might be a bit more of that in the game. (btw I dont watch Oprah or Dr Phil so don't even go there:P)
  18. Thank you!

This was such a nice thing to see. Someone praising another player. We need more of this!!! How bout a permanent thread for ppl to thank those who have done them a kindness??
  19. I'm sorry if this post covers other posts. I did do a search and could not find anything that covered my questions. I don't know if this is a problem just with me...but.. I get poisoned a lot. I mean alot. I was getting poisoned from eating toads so much I decided to keep track of it. Basically I counted how many times I was poisoned and how many toads I ate. After 1000 toads I was poisoned 187 times. That is much higher than 5%. I read in another post that astro doesn't affect toad poisoning. So is it just bad luck? Is there a way the devs can have the ai read the number of toads eaten/poisonings and make things even out? I seriously want some evening out. In the last 1/2 hr alone I was getting poisoned every 4th or 5th toad. I know I sound like I'm whining.. but come on... 5% should be 5% not 18%. Maybe toughness can be taken into acount and decrease the damage from toads. Or maybe the devs can make an antidote cape or ring. Maybe we could cook them and lessen the odds of being poisoned. Just some ideas is all. Thanks for reading my rant... one very confuzzled toadeater
  20. 5% chance of being poisoned? I don't think so!

Laws of probability??? In a fantasy world??? No such animal. It is as elusive as a ummm arti cape lol. Yes I know by the laws of probability my toad poisonings should have evened out, but, they haven't. Only one conclusion can be drawn from this. I must immediately change my name to Murphy and sit beside other ppl and curse them with my bad luck. mwa ha ha.. I'm coming to get all you lucky ppl!!!! j/k Funny thing.. serendipity or a change of my mind set.. but I seem to be getting poisoned less. Maybe I just don't mind as much now that I understand how things work. still want a good luck charm and still eating toads
  21. 5% chance of being poisoned? I don't think so!

LOL I never expected this kind of response. Just to let you know.. I rarely ever get more than double poisoned. As soon as the damage hits the double digits I start eating meat and don't start eating toads again until the damage is down to 5hp. I learned my lesson when I first started eating toads. But to be honest now I am very confused. Officially I have a 5% chance of getting poisoned. Unofficially its 50/50 , either I will get poisoned or I won't. If poisoning is a random event then the amount of toads eaten or the speed at which they are eaten would have no long term effect. It would eventually level out at 5%. How does it really work??? Still confuzzled... still eating toads LOL
  22. 5% chance of being poisoned? I don't think so!

Well for one thing I am not exaggerating about the numbers. LOL I have made my last 6 lvls of magic just restoring myself from toad poisoning. I just question the 5%. Yes there are times when I go 100 or more toads without getting poisoned but those times are far and few between. I really do get poisoned far more often then 5% of the time. But then I also make much fewer enriched ess.. find fewer stones.. I guess I dl'd the bad luck edition of EL lol. If all this really bothered me I would have quit playing EL long ago. I happen to like the game . And judging by some of the replies to my initial post I am not the only one who has some question about the magical 5%.
  23. Mortos Race

The new dates conflict with my work schedule and I am not going to be able to make it. Please remove from the list. Sorry.
  24. Mortos Race

That makes the event roughly start at 2pm my time. I'm not sure if I can make that but I will try. So apologies in advance if I'm a no-show.
