*read, skim, read, skim, reply* Heh, ironically, I don't think new players would detect most of these problems controversies without us here to point them out! A lot of players left because they got used to things a certain way (old harvest/pk/attributes uncapped and what have you....). New players, being new, aren't going to relate to that. Also, the matter of being able to buy and sell characters. The character still has to have the same amount of accumulative hours put behind it regardless of how many users. I can't see how being passed around amongst users or just having one owner affects newbies... they're new, it's their job to feel tiny (or else buy a character ) However, in other games, they do decrease the xp-per-level as the community progresses. Say, in early years, L30 is X exp, they'd drop the requirement 10-20% over time so lesser players can catch up. But in a way, that's not fair either, so... *shrugs* Oh, and to drop a new bomb, how many games have a strong lifespan of +10 years? (Nethack? Pong? Rhetorical?) Maybe EL's just slowing down naturally... my two cents. Oh also, I unauthorizely declare the economy fine.

I've played quite a spread of MMOs and EL has a great harvesting system. The two immediate things I noticed with mini harvest events are: at this is just enough to keep the player at the keyboard (which is a good thing gameplay-wise btw ), that it would discourage alt character harvesting, which has been an active topic here for a while now. I sympathies with those who have mentioned arthritis etc etc, I myself have a RSI but if it's affected by harvesting so obviously, perhaps consider something more keyboard related. Or crazier idea yet.... appeal for a resume harvest short cut key. Recent 'threats' of returning to single click harvesting wouldn't be as bad as first thought in my opinion, as long as rather than 1 item per click it could be multiple items per click, depending on the harvest item. Eg; ~20 lupines per click. Good gameplay, probably still not so great for mouse. Also harvesting systems from other games. All of which are a step backwards afaik. Respawning harvest items within a radius Harvest areas with harvest hot spots Fighting plant monsters etc Other Health Bar-like set ups for harvest items. All pretty flawed. Actually, yeah.... just gimme a shortcut key please.

.... So what I did in the "Gain" Table was express the total value gained by using School based on the amount of time needed for each proposed leveling method based on the 97.5 gc/min base. So here's how it works in order to compare One method to another we have to "use" the same amount of time. If we don't then the formula is wrong as one part will have been calculated with one time and the other part with a completely different time there fore not creating a balance. So we in order to find a gain or loss versus Method 2 and Method 4 it would look like this: Total Cost 4 - (Total Cost 2 +((Time 2- Time 4) * gc/min) 116501 - (154245 + ((852-346) * 97.5)= Gain or loss 116501 - (154245 + (-506 *97.5) = Gain or loss 116501 - (154245 +(-49335)= Gain or loss 116501 - (104910)= Gain or loss 11591= Gain (because number is greater then 0 it is considered a gain) So this means for the total amount of time spent on the project you gain 11591gc. If Total Cost 2 had been a Higher number causing the final number to be negative then there would have been loss. Yes, I can see what you've done but I can't see why you've done it. Total Cost = Trip Cost + Total Helm Cost + Time Cost (I agree with that). As you're aware, part of Total Cost is Time Cost. Total Cost 4 - Total Cost 2 gives the time/cost difference due to: Time Cost = total time * 97.5gc/m - which is exactly what you've repeated in your Gain Table as you've shown above. In my opinion, the error is that Total Time * GC/Min, takes on two aliases. Firstly it is known as Time Cost which is added to Total Cost, then swiftly followed as part of Adjusted cost/time which is again added to Total Cost. Total Cost shows adjusted cost/time already as Time Cost 4 - Time Cost 2 being within it. But I think it should then simply be: Total Cost 4 - Total Cost 2. Or remove the first set of Time Cost.

True.... But this is for everyones benefit... self sacrifice! I know it seems petty, but I'd prefer to do this, than do it wrong for a few million exp.

I was looking at the table. G47 is =ROUNDUP(I43-((F56-F42)*C12), 0) Why is the helm cost of Trik subtracted from the time cost of the school? I don't agree with the "Gain" table, as the Time Cost is already taken in to account for Total Cost. EDIT: Oh, and it should be noted that table 5 takes a fraction of the starting cost, to the other tables.

From Elf Ninja's Leather Sheet - Trik with Extra Helms: Total: (10365 helms * 20gc ea. from Trik - ( 33271.65 GC loss + 2067 for Travel Cost)) / 936mins = 183.719391026gc/min First Line: (1652 helms * 20gc ea. from Trik - (5302.92GC loss + 2067 for Travel Cost)) / 139.54mins = 183.962161387gc/min In theory, Trik is "paying" about double that. Did I miss anything?

Thank you for the link. In my first post: See the bit in bold!?! (I thought you read the posts before yours :'() Doing it without carrying an extra 31 leather helms is crazy talk. Weight of leather helm = 3. Weight of leather helm ings = 7+food. Thus, I'll only be using a small section of your spreadsheet. With such, I'm a little skeptical of separated "Trips leather" "Trips Thread" "Trips food" - of course this would have no effect on school outcome, but I will use combination (leather + thread + food + helms + needles) trips when looking at Trik. It is pretty irrelevant in most of the formulas, but it is very relevant in the manner in which this theory was posted above. If you travel every time to gather your ing. again because you truly limit yourself to the initial amount of gc then it becomes a serious factor, seconds add up to minutes, minutes add up to hours. Again... the same time would be added to both methods and the same amount of 'gc' used. Therefore, it creates no difference between the two, so there is nothing to contrast[/b[. Yes, the time would add up... but it would do so the same for each case. Be warned, this is before coffee posting, so I will return later to play with numbers and probably edit post with more concentration tonight.

Hi Elf_Ninja, Firstly, I'll admit it's been a long time since this topic was formed and I only vaguely remember my numbers. Also, I'm not playing EL lately, so it makes it a touch harder in practice. Even so, please show me your excel sheet. I ~think~ I still have an algorithm made for this matter, which can also be viewed if anyone likes. I don't agree with including time and ess/rings spent traveling, as I find it irrelevant due to both school and Trik needing to go to the same places only once each. As I recall that decrease list is a little bad with rounding, but don't worry, THAT wasn't what I used in calcing. I'll have a bit more time and patients for this later Thanks for the interest.

Perhaps there is too much sugar in my coffee this morning... or maybe it's not sugar at all, none the less my evil intent does have it's upsides. To the knowledge that there are too many dragon scales, the thought came to mind that a lot of them are coming from invasions. And of course... we can't exactly do less invasions, however we could add something new to this scale grabbing feast. Not to mention the invasion tokens and removal stones gained too. I think a mid range destructive creature would go well in addition with white tigers, bears, lager spiders. It would absorb the scales and pry the EFEs from those naughty horders. I know this idea would make me disliked by many, but I think it would fix a few imbalances.

First, Holar I applaud you for making a stand, and any other manufactures doing the same - it's a good try. However, I'm afraid, it will all be in vain. As long as Tankel and HeavyBeard still exist, your efforts are a waste. Really, this is a novelty, it's only a matter of time until armor prices drop again due to their being too many in game. Myself, I think if the prices go up (as they dearly should, for manufacturer's sakes) I will get by making my own armors. No sale here, sorry.
-
Thats cause no manuer are addicted as blodocks or fedora or ermabwed... They could make swords at will to raise theyr levels... but it seems theres no reason for it... That's no where near my point. I was referring to the quality and quantity of people who can make dragon armors... if there was a heaps of them, the price would drop, more people would have, cherish and break their dragon armors. And everyone likes armors! And if people have a lot of GCs.... sooner or later they'll range #EDIT: A fighter has to cover the cost of SRs, HEs, and armor damages - which requires 'farming' etc. because they don't make enough GC/hour training. With the goal being: get as much exp as possible! Spending an extra hour farming to pay off the pot, won't get them more exp than spending that hour training without their use.

When the monster stats where being changed as compensation for removing TS effect, was this also being thought of at the time? I can understand that a lot of people are disappointed because they're comparing it to the old way of reducing a/d - which was overpowered. It would interest me to see how much extra experience can be made per a session by using these potions. I think the best players to test this would be recently x-feros trainers. Get some numbers, people! Why not test it myself? I'm n00b at a/d training. I have level 87 potioning, and I'm delaying buying these 2 books (mainly because I don't pot much anymore) because I don't think I could make them reliably enough. Remember; messing with ~8kgc ingredients here (and that's when there are too many scales in game). Ok, so we need to absorb some scales... I imagine this will take more new items than 2 pots. *leap of faith* Alternatively, making dragons harder to kill or making manufacturing easier to level (note: rank 1 manu = level 100, where as rank 1 a/d, harvest, summon, crafting, potion is all over level 100.) ...And it's always surprised me that summoning red dragon takes 0 scales.
-
I'm a little sceptical of using Saltpeter to level... you'd spend most of your time getting harvest exp. Ash is good for low levels, and Melinis and Sedicolis both have good places to make it. Then swap to a/d indicators asap!

Zenial, looking at your page, you obviously pk. You might want to mention your pk morals for those interested in recruiting you. Some guilds will only allow pkers that have specific pk morals. Examples of pk morals I have seen include not attacking the unarmed, not attacking hydro harvesters, not attacking anyone else than red tags unless they interfere with your hunting, etc. I am sure you know this already. Don't know why you didn't mention your pk morals though. My PK morals, hrmm? Firstly, I don't care much for PK, I could easily just sit in sto and mix forever. For my PKi, those three kills were all from PVP accidents (so tough) and this contest is where half my deaths come from. The other half? KF I know better than to truly try PK at 80 defense lol. In Zennie's mind: Anyone in KF is attackable, I don't attack hydro runners, trainers, the unarmed, PVPers or misplaced newbies. I'd never consider luring. I'd probably give back drops if I attacked them first or they were not red tagged. BRoDs are pro. ....Anything else?

Hi all, I'm looking for a large/exceptionally active guild. My stats are open, I've been playing EL for over 2 years. Previously was in DeL (probably end up back there oneday, but till then, may as well look around ). #accept me \o/! #accept me \o/! Oh and I will NOT join any guild that requires any RL factors - age limit, hours played etc.

There's no doubt you have a great talent for photoshop and I'm not just saying that because your a fellow Zelda fan. My favorite one is cajun's. But I noticed on Stricken's the lighting on the foreground looks unrelated to the background lighting.
