  1. In Memoriam

I will miss Desdamona--she was so kind and helpful to me when I began to play. Always willing to buy my toads when I needed gc, protecting me on merc runs, etc. She is a wonderful soul.

  3. RC8 for the flicker problem ONLY

With RC 8, i had the flicker problem and a selection problem and still had the inside map crashing problem. With the old selection version of RC 8, the flicker is gone, and the selection is working fine, but still crashes on inside maps upon entry or pan. 5. Pre RC 7

Standard--I went through approximately 15 different omega drivers in December trying to solve the problem last time, and each of the produced an equal or worse result.
  6. Pre RC 7

Video card: MOBILITY RADEON 9200 DDR x86/SSE2 Vendor ID: ATI Technologies Inc. OpenGL Version: 1.3.4145 WinXP Release el_pre_rc_26_02_07.exe crashes on startup el_pre_rc_26_02_07_no_vertex_programs.exe worked fine until i went to inside map and panned around, then crashed my entire system like previous RC's
  7. Pre Rc6

On further use of RC6, I encountered the same problem in AA storage and other inside maps that I did on the current version of the client, which led to my use of the "no_clusters" version of the client. When in AA storage and a few other inside maps, if I pan to the right or left, it crashes my entire system, requiring a hard restart. With the no_clusters version of the current client, I have never experienced this problem. Otherwise, RC6 seems to be functioning ok, with the exception of sporadic, very jerky video.
  8. Pre Rc6

Apparently not--the video card in my laptop is poor, but I am using the latest driver. 9. Pre Rc6

Still crashed at startup if I didn't use "el main --use_animation_program=0" The flashing snow is gone, but the video in general seems to be far more "jerky" than it was in RC 5
  10. Pre RC5

Video card: MOBILITY RADEON 9200 DDR x86/SSE2 Vendor ID: ATI Technologies Inc. OpenGL Version: 1.3.4145 WinXP Release RC 5 crashed at startup every time I tried when the screen indicated that it was "Initializing OpenGL extensions". Since I ran it with the "el main --use_animation_program=0" it has been working fine so far with the exception that on certain maps (Trassian silver cave and Trassian outdoors) spots in the snow appear to flash on and off like christmas tree lights. Very nice, Ghrae. I tried it out with a variety of different values and double checked in spreadsheet--very handy. TY!
  12. Indicator Stones

Before the latest major client update, when you used an astrology stone, the results showed in chat so that you could go back and gather the data, if desired. Now the results show up in an independent box, leaving no record. I have looked, but have not seen an option to change it from box-oriented to console-oriented. Am I missing something? It seems more valuable to have the results logged rather than having to do it manually each time you use a stone if you're interested in trying to decipher this astrology puzzle.
  13. Latest client patch, everyone please test, urgent.

I played fine with the new client patch for several hours, and also noticed a speed improvement. About once over 20 minutes or so, I get a 15-20 second stall (lag), but this may very well be an issue with my computer. This morning, upon entering AA storage, I got the same problem I had before the no-clusters version--a complete freeze of my system. I never had issues like this using the no-clusters version. I have the latest version of my video driver installed, and the following: MS XP Pro, 5.1.2600, Service Pack 2 Build 2600 X86 Family 6 Model 13 Stepping 6 Intel Mobility Radeon 9200 I tried the drivers you recomended last time, but none of them worked for me--but the no-clusters version did. *Edit* After posting this, I rebooted my machine and started up the client again. It crashed my system as soon as I signed into EL. The only entry in my error log follows: Log started at 2008-01-11 10:42:16 localtime (Mountain Standard Time) [10:42:16] Error: Server profile not found in servers.lst for server: Lands\el.exe". 15. LION's New Player Holiday Contests

Because we had NDD invasions on both scheduled days, the moderators ask that we postpone these contests. Rather than try to schedule them here, which I thought would be most efficient, please just simply watch the contest channel during the upcoming weekends. Happ New Year!
  16. Test server part 2

I have looked and looked for discussion on this topic, and while I fear it is not test server related, this seems to be the most on topic place for my question. I have tested offensive magic spells and resto under many different conditions with many different creatures. I have noticed that potions that are used to increase your rationality do not seem to affect, in particular, the restoration spell, i.e., you have higher rat, but not higher restored material points. Is this intended? I had thought reasoning and will pots would become much more popular after the change to magic.
  17. Man (player) eating leopard

I can see it now--some jokers will be dropping bags of dung all over the place to scare people, lol! I think this creature is a fun idea.
  18. LION's New Player Holiday Contests

The first 2 contests will be held on December 22 at 20:00:00 GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) The second 2 contests will be held on December 23 at 20:00:00 GMT http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/ See you there!
  19. Mage class, Fighter class

    1. I agree. This concept, combined with the attribute cap, is a lot to digest quickly. Giving everyone a chance to reconfigure--not just those with uber coord would help and allow people to do what you would like--think and act on that thinking. 2. I also agree that, consistent with a cap on the attributes and a nod toward the hard work that has been put to a/d, that magic level should count for more than in the proposed calculation. Otherwise you are honoring attribute over skill--the opposite intent, I think, of the attribute cap. 3. An observation: Tying this to rationality makes some sense intuitively. Tying it soley to Reasoning would be fine for PKrs but not so great for a/d trainers since it also increases dexterity, increasing your hitting percentage-- reaction being more important to trainers and both being important to PK'rs. 4. A question: If this tie is implemented, would the spell be no fail like it is for 49+ magic level people now, regardless of level magic level?
  20. petition for attributes cap

Incidentally, the prospect of this cap seems to have sent the price/value of attribute removal stones down through the basement.
  21. petition for attributes cap

Well, I still voted no. I feel somewhat more comfortable after reading, considering, and have discussions with more knowledgeable players. I think the comments like--"well, you will never max out all your attributes with a cap of 48" is exactly my concern. I never intended to max out all my attributes. I intended to focus on those that most closely supported my skill(s) of choice. I know, I know--all attributes affect fighting to one degree or another, but some have a much closer and tighter correlation to success in fighting than others. For example, after you hit 48 coord, instead of adding coord to get increases in might, dexterity, and reaction--all key to successful pk, you must add reasoning for dexterity, instinct for reaction, and phys for might. A 3:1 deal. Which means you'll have to achieve many more OAs to get the same cross attributes that are directly related to success in pk to arrive at the same effective result. This generally means a longer time to success. People who currently have very high a/d's as a result of the ability to add coord instead of several other attributes to achieve the same result, will have even more advantage than low to mid level a/d folks than they already enjoy. I do not relish the idea of longer fights, when I alone have no chance of ever winning the fight, but just longer to run away. I do see some benefits of this cap, and I think it will be a while before the negative effects are keenly felt, but they will be felt more over time. The more time that passes, the more we all look the same--it is not a matter of "if" but "when". Regardless, we will all adapt, I'm sure.
  22. petition for attributes cap

I told you in game already, but this petition got started because Ent asked for it in the other topic. To have players ask for the cap. Not because I'm not happy with the results of the previous one, because that one already had a majority. Just a bit less than what is required for this one. So just the 2nd poll that was asked for, for people who had changed their mind for example. Just not started by Ent, but by players. I posted this before I had a chance to speak to you in-game.
  23. petition for attributes cap

What would be the point? Honestly....? My thoughts exactly.
  24. petition for attributes cap

If I don't care for the results of this poll, can I start a new one too?
  25. Attributes cap for the main server

I like the freedom that the no-cap currently offers. People can experiment endlessly with the best builds for different skills focuses. I think this is positive. A cap will make us more homogeneous, and I've always been a big believer in the strength of diversity.
