I agree with robotbob. To quote my GM, "ya, work n00b."
-
I have done 2 things recently which tell me I'm addicted: 1. On my way home from work i tried to hit "tab" to mapwalk home; and 2. I actually said "LOL" outloud the other day
-
I have to admit that yesterday was the most pathetic NDD display I have witnessed to date.
-
I have noticed a similar issue with mana drain when you miss your target. If I don't "hit" the person or animal I'm attempting to drain, I get an auto disconnect. A bit perilous in PK.
-
I would be in favor of the weapon limitation, but not the rosto and @lesbegue--Oo? I could have sworn there was a reason i trained my butt off, but maybe not.

One thing i have noticed about making LION's PK rules public is that people attempt to exploit them. n00bs running into NcA nekkid saying "it's against your rules to att an unarmed person who isn't redtagged!" So I consider them the published threat exception to the rule and kill them. If anyone is ever interested, our PK rules can be found here: http://rick74.ri.funpic.org/forum/index.php/topic,149.0.html By the way, thank you to the many who helped me finalize these rules. You know who you are.

My views on this topic have changed over time. With regard to nonconsensual killing, as shmurk put it, you are "agreeing" to be killed anytime you enter a PK map unless you have an "agreement" to the contrary with a pvp partner. With regard to 3rd party interference with a FF or 1v1 or pvp, the 3rd party was not part of the agreement. I find it difficult to consider that 3rd party guilty of some crime if they didn't agree to leave you alone. That being said, LION still has rules restricting PK opportunities, and most revolve around killing the defenseless because there is no challenge or honor in killing the defenseless. As Chosen pointed out, however, this line is difficult to determine. Many naked people on pk maps are now: 1) carrying large summon (stones or ings); 2) catching dis's; 3) carrying landmines and caltrops; 4) carrying armor/weapons in inv. There are some naked people I attack on sight because I know they pose a threat if I get involved in a fight with someone else, and I am leaning toward a more liberal view of killing these "defenseless" people because it is getting more difficult to figure out which ones are which. The other exception to this "defenseless" rule is when n00bs stand in a pk area behind their stronger guildies for all of the reason above and because they are too cowardly to fight for themselves. Some guilds are well known for their engage and dis to my guildie tactic--kill them all as many times as you can. Can we have a poll on each type of "outlaw" behavior to get a reading on the community sentiment?

Camera Rotation Speed=100 Fine Rotatoin Speed=25 I rotate the same amount at the same speed whether pressing shift or not. This is using the keyboard arrow keys.
-
Changes from sky_client_3: 1.) The shift key is not working to effect a fine camera rotation (similar to earlier verions of the sky client); 2.) FPS seems to be a bit worse than the previous version; 3.) I am resyncing on map changes and never had that problem with the previous version; and 4.) Previously mentioned error msg on pickaxe break, whether mine or someone else's breaks. Problems still present: 1.) Strange, tangent graphics appearing from time to time 2.) New Selection problem--must turn new selection off for correct bag and to enter some areas and turn it back on to improve graphic performance (increase FPS)
-
Similar to the no_clusters version, I have not been able to crash this client yet. I noticed a negative effect on FPS in this version however, from an average of 30-35 to an average of 10-13 fps. Also, I should mention that the "new selection" issue still exists in that i have to turn it off to enter certain areas and to choose bags accurately, then turn it back on to improve FPS.
-
WOOT! I put the no_clusters version through its paces and so far no issues. This graphical transformation is unbelievable. Well Done!!!!!

Since the recent change to the break rate sampling, I and others in my guild have experienced an insane amount of breakage. With skeptic and NMT, i am averaging a full aug set about every 17 fluffies. At less than 1kgc/hr from fluffs, if this stays consistent, you can barely pay for the aug broken during training let alone HE and SRs. In the 2 days after the update, 1 guildie degraded/broke 2 CoL, 4 Mol, iron set, steel cuisses, and about 30 aug sets training fem and male unarmed orcs. Another guildie degraded CoL in the same timeframe. Are others experiencing similar breakage since the update or are we just having some bad luck?
-
Yes, i can reliably reproduce the crashes. Inside maps, always "manmade" structures, not caves and crashes when I rotate camera view in either direction. Some inside places are bad, others aren't. Particularly bad are AA storage and SRM storage. It never happens outside, only on inside maps. The strange graphics happen both inside and outside and I can not consistently reproduce them. They just seem to "happen" from time to time.

After server update yesterday, I noticed an immediate improvement. Thank you, Radu.

Wow!!! The graphics are striking and beautiful! Unfortunately, I am having the same inside map crashing problems that I had with the current client and before the no_clusters version. Also, I have periodically experienced the same odd graphics that JimP is experiencing. Also, prior to this client, to do a "fine rotation" I used shift with the directional keys. Now, that doesn't seem to engage the fine rotation, it rotates the normal amount with or without the use of the shift key.

Uhm, I was totally satisfied with Ent saying he'd look at the data to see if there was a significant change in break rates and make an appropriate adjustment if so. I don't mind trading gc for exp--it makes sense, but it does go back to Robotbob's question on whether fighting, itself, could/should be self-supporting or nearly so. Entropy, I hope you will follow your first proposed course of action and make an adjustment if there is a problem. Thank you.

A great contest, Spleen. I had a blast (until gnny entered)! Thank you very much.

Hmm, seems to me i had this exact effect around christmas time and ragutizlt got a very nice christmas present. It wasn't as quick as a tele--but same effect

It is a laptop and fan does not appear to be spinning atm Oo. Limiting to 20 fps right now. I'll have our IT guy check it out tomorrow, ty.

Hmm, in the past hour or so, this has happened twice: http://img180.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1...erscrashcw9.jpg otherwise it is still running fine with none of the previous issues. edit: another crash just now, with this message--it is not crashing my entire system now, just closing the client: http://img260.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1...rscrash2gb3.jpg

This is very nice, thank you.
