The royal purple robe (the one for sale now is RED not PURPLE) sold for approx 1.2m.

close of my 12/23 is in 24 hours In game bid for warlock of 30k gc-- Nyarlathotep

When I saved I got this message: Local files saved, asking server to save too... Instead of the usual "You have been saved!" msg. Not sure if intentional or not, but thought I'd mention it.
-
I like the icon, but not for others to see. It's like a big sign on my forehead saying "plz kick my ass"

I would definitely vote yes for keeping the personal stats current when you type #pki and not having it publicized. A personal measuring stick would be motivating for me.
-
Pr0 idea, but we can do that now, if both parties trust a 3rd to hold the loot.
-
I'd sacrifice the pki to keep KF no-drop. I frequented KF and other arenas prior to and after the change to KF. There is no way to measure the increase in PK action since the change, except to say it is enormous and welcomed. @Cona, i think part of the popularity of the KF no-drop map, which has kept it interesting for many. was at least in part, the pki system. With KF no drops and no pki, i think you will see the popularity drop off.

As I've been levelling my mule, I've noticed the extreme cost associated with its use. This makes some sense as you are levelling, but after the mule is fully levelled, it might make some sense to cut the food consumption considerably or there will be very few circumstances during which it will make any economic sense to use the mule for hauling. Thoughts?
-
Now do the same exact calculation without the use of the mule--which is more profitable? How much time was saved using the mule? End of discussion, then. Sorry to bring it up. Anyone who is thinking about starting to level a mule, feel free to pm me, before you start the process, about the cost vs. benefits of the endeavor.

So you're saying that playing the game (or specifically PKing) for fun is not a reason? If the only reason you play EL is pki (and not for fun) then perhaps it's time to find a new game to play? Footnote: "pk is dead" isn't a phrase Entropy likes much. I voted yes. There is no reason why PK should not have a measuring stick like every other endeavor in EL. If it's being abused, let's investigate ways to curb the abuse, not just abandon the system.
-
Not trying to be argumentative, but I don't see how 2 min+ roundtrip is insta- anything.
-
I think the cost to fully level the mule in the first place will keep over 90% from even attempting it.
-
If there was a poll, I'd vote yes, and investigate ways to curb abuse. I like the yardstick--an ongoing yardstick, not just the flavor of the month.

Ok, so we have a fancy titanium hauler . . . O.o But how does the titanium get into your storage? You have to harv it, then haul it to sto or have someone sit on the bag for you whiile you haul it to NPC, then split part of the profits with the bag sitter. Was just an observation that the high costs will leave little utility for a fully levelled mule. If we want some modicum of return for the incredible costs to gain 12 levels (even when helped by hauling while levelling) the food consumption should be reduced by some factor after the mule is fully levelled. Just my opinion. I was hoping to do more than just "look cool" on IP

Yes, that's what i meant, which is why i counted glyph cost as zero, just didn't say it very well.

Great work Ghrae, also love the new php combat pages--interesting and informative! Hopefully not too far off topic, but one term i didn't see defined is evasion. Does evasion=def and accuracy=att? In other words, what happens when you take eva and acc pots? Is it exactly the same effect as a/d pots? Does reaction=evasion and dexterity=accuracy? How does a 1 increase in a/d compare to 1 increase in reaction and dexterity? Thanks

Yes, I have been, and while hauling, I started adding up the increase in price of the commodity I'm hauling based upon the cost of maintaining mule form. I quickly understood that it will never pay off, even after it's completely levelled. My thoughts were once you've reached the pinnacle, the food consumption might drop a bit to make all the gc and effort actually pay off. Example: Hauling iron to storage from Melinis cave: Assume EMU 2k=495 iron/trip, leaving room for food 10 food per roundtrip=800gc Cost of glyph divided over number of trips, so count as 0 for the example Cost per iron ore is 1.62 gc just to haul it. Iron regularly sells for around 3gc and over 1/2 of the gross goes to hauling costs.

Nice idea, D.

tbh, it wasn't hurting me, it was a ladder of comparison and those who bought their way in were apparent. there is no huge advantage to those buyers and "abusers" yet it still offers a yardstick for those who are motivated by the measurement.
-
I think it sounds like fun. I'd participate.
-
I would but then i'd prolly be banned.

The definition is the EL definition of abuse, apparently. I was attempting consistency of application. A laugh, mockery, artificial increase or decrease of a rank don't appear to fit the definition. Speaking as one who didn't abuse the pki system, it never became a source of frustration for me. I clearly saw the top and aimed for it. I don't care how they got there, only how I tried to get there.

You might be surprised to know how much work people would do just to see their name higher on a list somewhere. That includes lots of research into how to optimize (abuse) the system to attain better results. I don't disagree, but it's not a real in-game advantage--only a "vanity" check. Unless players are able to use this advantage to the detriment of others or to their in-game benefit, it doesn't fit the definition of abuse that I was given.
