Where else if not in the manu window? This is the only window that is known to be open! If you don't look at this window, while you make potions, where the heck do you have your eyes? Imho putting it between the chat is even more worse. It happened sometimes to me, that I didn't realize a level up, because there was so much chat, that the message was quite fast out of the screen, and I realised it quite some time after.

Have you tried installing using the text mode installation method? There's some kernel option which you can choose at boot time for this. Look at the function keys, that are listed on the boot screen. This sounds as X can't find proper modelines for your monitor. It would imho be best then to install in text mode, skip the automatic X configuration at the end of the installation and do this manually, after the first reboot. Maybe someone else knows a better solution, that avoids configuring X manually.

The processor yes, but was there an 64bit OS immediately available? Not sure, I thought it took some time.

I'm quite sure, you will get an 128bit machine, some time, togehter with your first 128bit OS Just wait a few more years. Just look at some of the major unix operating systems: sun has 64 bit version of solaris for some years, and Digital released a 64bit unix, also some years ago (when where they bought by compaq? 1996/7? They had this 64bit os, before). That's what I mean, when I say, ms is quite late with a 64bit OS.

Well, I think you don't have to switch completely away from ~x86. Just try the libsdl, because imho that's where the problem is here.

I'm using ck-sources-2.6.10-r5 and xorg-x11-6.8.0-r4 atm. I remember to had some similiar problem some time ago (only the walking bug, not the texture related stuff). But it usually went away, after I moved one step using the home key, and was not a general problem, but only in some, to me unrelated, cases.

I too think, it's the libsdl that makes the problem. As you told, you use libsdl-1.2.8-r1, I assume you are using ~x86. Which xorg version do you use? I stopped using ~x86 in general, as I got too many problems with all kind of libs and apps after it ran for a while. I use it only for selected packages now. Other people had different experiences with this. Have you tried to install the latest stable libsdl?

doxygen has an option LATEX_HIDE_INDICES which causes doxygen not to generate index pages for LaTeX. This saves you ~300 pages The problem with the LaTeX doc is that each chapter starts on a new page, which increases the overall page count dramatically, because of the way doxygen handles the structure of the document. Also most of the pages are quite empty atm. <edit>It does actually save only a few 10 pages. I concluded the amount on the page numbers on the index pages, when I did a short look at the resulting pdf. </edit>

It's more than a year ago, that I stopped using redhat. I used FC 1 for some months after this before I switched to another distro. This is what I remember. RedHat comes with a rpm graphical package manager. It's in the system tools menu and you need root privileges to actually install packages. Depending on how old your release of redhat is, firefox might or might not be available in the package manger. For EL stick to the description Grum already told you. As far as I know, you can download the shockwave player after you have installed firefox, from the firefox plugin website. But it may also be a separate rpm package available for it. Try the following commands from a command line to get info about the availability: rpm -q firefox rpm -q shockwave Reading this thread, I strongly urge you to stick to Leeloo's suggestion. Linux is quite different from windows. It has a completely different philosophy from windows. Windows tries to hide as much system details as possible from the users, cause it assumes, the user is unfamiliar with those system topics. So to secure the OS, those functionality is hidden. Linux on the other side doesn't hide anything, instead it assumes the user knows what s/he is doing. It does nothing without being asked. This confuses many linux newbies, as they now must perform system tasks that were formerly done by the OS without being asked. <edit>typos</edit>

This is strange, I can't verify this on my gentoo box. I don't have any black backgrounds, and the left click is working as supposed to be, both with cvs client as well as with the ebuilded client. Are you sure, you are using the walk icon, and not the use icon accidentally? It seems, that the icons are always changing to use icon, after you clicked something on your quickbar, or in inventory window. At least that's the case with me. Can you please try to switch through the available icons with right-click and try again with several different icon states and tell whether it works or not?

But isn't this already the case? Didn't you know some of the new items are the three types of axes? And that there are new clothes? This is exactly what you suggested, Derin. On the other side, the suggestion was, that, together with a new client update, there will be available a detailed list of changed or new items, with their exact formulas. Imho this would be a waste of development time, as all the neat new things, all the easter eggs are publicly available at once and immediately. I think this will annoy any player who is kind of the explorer type.

I use 2 chars, because I don't like to be a jack of all trades, but nevertheless want to use most of the skills available. So I made two chars, one for fighting/magic/summoning and the other for alch/manu/crafting. The only thing here, I wouldn't be able to do with only one char, is the fact that I couldn't play my roles adequatly, but instead would've to play a quite different role, of some super-uber-mega char, and I really don't like this for myself. You didn't search the forums, actually, did you? If it's no longer there, you will have to ask somebody that has already written a bot. I don't know where to get the sources. You can also use the clients source and strip it down to the functionality you will need. And for the capability to work with windows servers, I guess you are responsible for yourself to get this working correct.

Can you debug the application, to see what happens wrong in move_to_next_frame()? Or try to reproduce this error and after crashing give a bt command to gdb and post the output here, to see the stackframe when it crashes. <edit>Errm, seems Leeloo and I posted about at the same time </edit>

There are, or at least there were, some hints on this forum and even some source code on how to build a bot. I remember Athosino posted a link to sources some time ago. But I don't know if it's still there. In general your bot needs to react on PM's sent to him. You should take a look at client_server.h to pick out the messages your bot should handle and at multiplayer.[hc] to get an idea on how the interaction with other players could get done. You must take care of PM's and of trading requests, as well as check the inventory before accepting or rejecting a trade. Then write some few functions to perform this tasks.
