  1. ....while others are very happy...

Ok I apologise for not having considered this side of it before having a rant, and it's a valid point that the ingenuity of the person who discovered this merits a reward.

I still want to disagree with your statement that the overall total of happiness remains constant though. The hunter expects a possibility of some good drops, while the uninformed fighter gets a really nasty surprise, a surprise intensifies the feeling of loss so much that some are inclined to quit! I don't think it's good enough to say "you should have read the forums or talked to the NPC". Not everyone reads the forums, and there was a poll about new NPCs where 10-20% admitted to never talking to them.

If you want to preserve the predator's ability to win drops (which is a fair standpoint, even though my opinion is different), then EVERY fighter should be informed of the danger. Perhaps white spam would be enough when you walk near the arena (in addition to the NPC who could explain the danger in more detail and advise people to use the 1 square thick safe zone). This is similar to the situation with TD where some people didn't know rostos don't work there, so warnings were added.

But I still think the ability to carry rostos in no drop areas would be great.

  2. Call it a bug or a feature, correct me if I'm wrong though, my guess is that these situations were not foreseen, not part of the original concept of encouraging PK by means of a no drop area. Since it wasn't a deliberate move, why are you so determined to leave it in place?? A 10 square thick no drop area around the arena would fix things, Korrode's idea of a check before applying arrow damage would fix things, or else there's at least the proposed compromise of not losing rostogols in no drop areas, which would mean people falling foul of this glitch would only lose a rosto instead of potentially 1Mgc.

I'm posting because there are human beings behind our characters, who get upset when weeks' worth of work goes down the drain. I care about them, and so should you. Players' happiness does matter to you, whether for benevolent or selfish reasons, in the latter case because a bigger player base means more shop sales.

  3. If there is still a problem with not enough nmt leaving game, perhaps a quest where the player ends up donating a nmt cape could help?

I like that idea, though I think the most fun quests involve both cost AND time spent doing stuff, with a great reward at the end (thinking here of novac and the vanquisher perk, or Vixen and the armour quest), rather than just effectively buying a reward and that's the end of it. The best I can think of right now though that combines that principle and removes a NMT is that you have a quest that requires you to break a NMW cape in combat (And maybe that would teach people how hard they are to break, and how hard it would be to break a breakable NMT!).

  4. It'd also help a lot if rostos didn't poof if you die in a ND zone.

Brilliant idea - everyone wins. Players are happy they poof rostos instead of losing half their top gear in these situations and when leaving KF poisoned etc., radu gets more rostos poofed, newhope gets to continue to enjoy abusing this bug.

  5. I think if there was more variety in the low level quests then not so many people would be sent to the same one. It might also be a good idea to go and do something else if the spawn you want isn't free :pickaxe:. Here are a few ideas for new dailies:

The dwarf warrior NPC in votd (can't rememeber his name) woke up with a sore back today, so he needs your help doing his job of keeping the gold mine free of goblins.

The tutorial NPC needs you to kill the woodsprite on IP. Newbs keep thinking that because it's there then they can kill it, but lot of them end up dying.

Edlera (the healing lady?) in morcraven wants you to kill some armed goblins (or skeletons if armed goblins are not noob enough) in the silver cave because they are disrupting the silver harvesting industry, which the healing industry heavily relies on.

The book NPC in Naralik is annoyed that the goblins there kill all of his newbie customers before they reach him.

  6. So I should sell my efe for 3k (like they used to be), only for someone to buy it and re-sell it for 10k? High demand and low supply have driven the prices up, no community effort to regulate prices will solve anything, sorry.

If you like to imagine that efes are worth 3k (and you have one), and that vial moulds for example are worth 3k (and you want one), go and exchange them with a manuer, and pretend to yourself that you've just done a trade for 3k worth of goods.

  7. Most of the time I would want this feature off, I can see it could get on my nerves, though I can see its use for daily quests. The thing is though that turning the feature on/off in the options window would take just as much effort as opening the counters window. For that reason I would only use it if there was a text command (which I could bind to an #alias) to turn it on and off. Please consider implementing a text command with it ;)
