  1. yes please. Although I do wonder if instances are really the reason. Seems to me it's more invasion tokens and scales that are being used for that, but of course only Radu knows. I just wonder how many of the serp stones that enter the game end up with the topmanuer that pays crazy amounts of gc for them...

But anything that will free up serp stones (or bindings, for that matter) will get my support

  2. And thinking bout that, i dont think newbies will go to dp mines all that often, since u walk more then u will be harvesting..

False. Seen as how a lot of newbies soon find their way to making FEs, most of them do spend time there for the sulfur.

  3. I think Kav's definition still comes closest to how to interpret the terms.

As for the 'n00b instance', I guess you should see that in the context of purely the instance, it's simply the lowest level instance existing in game so far.

It's funny though, I'm fairly sure if you ask 100 people to explain, they will all have their own views on it, some will even give you slightly different explanations for noob, n00b, naab, nub, nab, etc.

In my opinion (which by no means should be a guideline ^^):

A newbie is a relatively new and inexperienced player.

Noob or n00b is someone who has the levels and experience but isn't showing to have actually learnt something

E.g.: finding out about the mix all button at alch level 54. Or finding out about alt+click on item to get 10 in mixingmenu after 2 years of playing. Or using a cotu for bear training thinking it will stop the manaburn (that last one was me :medieval:)

Or a noob/n00b could also be someone who thinks to know all but phails epically at it.

E.g. a player with over 100 a/d thinking vitality gives EMU.

  4. EL is a good game in general, I didnt stop playing because overnight it suddenly became bad, but because it became the same game everytime I logged on ( if that makes sense lol )

Well.. do you want all your tailoring stuff back? That's a change :P

    j/k :D

  5. I even agree with you Con. You know me long enough to know I tend to take the treehuggy hippy stance and then forget to mention a thing or two. I would be a liar and a hypocrit to state here that I think some things can't be improved. I still stick to what I said though: instead of wanting Radu to cater for your (you being a general term, not anyone in particular) every needs, you yourself have an effect on whether or not you enjoy EL as it is. And if you decide to try and actually enjoy it, the things that used to annoy you will still be there but not as prominently a pain in your pixelbutt as they used to before.

  6. was supposed to leave a short post but ended up with a little rant. Apologies in advance :P

Imagine having spent years of your life building a game, putting endless amounts of time and effort in it and all you find on your forums are Polls made by people who think they know just what you need to change for your game to work again? And no, it's not one simple thing, it's basically about building a whole different game.

I'm not saying I'm any better, I too have my ideas, but for god's sake let's not take away Radu's will to put any effort in this game by bashing like 50% of his game down because it could all be better.

So how about just accepting the good AND the bad things EL has to offer us, and give the man some credit for already keeping us entertained for years so far?

If you want a fastleveler/easy pwnage game, go try WoW, or Talisman Online or anything similar, you just know that you'll always end up coming back to EL even if it's only every so often.

EL may not be the same as it used to be, but that's more due to changes in the community than anything else. Stop being so goddamn greedy for gc, and instead try to realise that the other person is probably working just as hard as you are. Say 'hi' when you get to a storage and greet back when someone else comes in and says hi to everyone sitting there. Stop laughing at newbies who try to sell 13 branches, 33 lilacs and 2 meat for 100 gc. Stop taking advantage of newbies who try to sell their first batch of 500 FE for 2gc each. Take some pride in levelling your character and if you're too lazy to level yourself then at least show some respect to the people who do gain their own levels instead of being a cocky smartass punk. At the same time, if someone wants to waste their trustfund on pixels, that's their choice, think of it what you want but don't rub that in every chance you get.

What I'm saying is: 'The community' in EL used to be a friendly one, and people would stick around for their friends. It's not anymore, and it's not getting better atm either. All we do is whine, screw other people over, and blame our ficus for everything, and all of that is keeping us from having a good time playing. See, we all expect for Radu to cater to our every need, when there is still so much that we can influence ourselves, that I think all this complaining is complete, utter bullshit.

It's easy to blame everything on anything but yourself, but honestly: when was the last time you helped a random player you don't really know out with anything?

*runs off and goes to hug a tree*

  7. kill them to fast because im pr0 like that

If you were pr0 like that you wouldn't have upped your p/c that much :P

If you really want to train a/d, I suggest you reset and keep p/c a bit lower for a looooong while to come. Look at other threads for several guides as to how to train.

  8. I'm not even voting on this one.

Putting the caps on will make EL not all that different from the 500000000 other games out there.

I like that EL is different, I like that it's pretty much eternal, and I do not mind the grind (maybe I'm silly, but I doubt I'm the only one :)). And more importantly, and probably the reason I can stand the grind, is that I have no problem seeing that people who invested years in leveling their chars have better stats than I do.

I tried some of the games that have caps, which can be obtained in a matter of months. They are fun, but they have grind just as well. And the grind there usually is limited to 1 or 2 activities that give the best experience, the rest is peanuts. Most of these games cannot be played without a focus on combat. Most are questbased in one way or another too. EL can be played for years by people who don't care for combat, and they can still find plenty of things to focus on.

    More importantly:

I just don't see the use in wiping the entire server (where people still come back to after sometimes years of absence) when the changes needed to come to something similar like you suggest, would rather call for a new game to be built. In that case, if Radu wanted something like this, he could just stop the support for this server (no new chars can be created, no more updates will be done, but can still be played) and start a new server that looks the same but offers just another WoW ripoff.

    Just my opinion :P

PS Starcy I'd still like you to come back :P

  9. There were quite a few that complained, and I am tired of asking if the players want a change then people asking for an unrelated change.

It's my game, but I am not the one playing it, and, ironically, more newbies were complaining about it than the pros. The reason why this is ironic is that it would have helped them much more than would have helped the pros.

OK, so how about educating the newbies about the advantages, ignore all the side topics that got caused and see if you can change their mind?

As for the people asking for an unrelated change: it was a mere suggestion made by Gnny, which started living it's own life. That's EL for you :w00t:. You can just chose to ignore it and focus on what you were intending to do.

  10. Quite a few experienced players have gone on this thread and gave their support for your idea, regardless of whether or not they came up with alternatives or 'trade proposals'. If you are convinced the game benefits, longterm, from NMT becoming breakable, then make it breakable. It's your game, right?

  11. Voted for 2.

Why are you seeing this from pvp side not from pve side. I dont want my nmt to be breakable.

James, it annoys me at times that some of these guys posting do not seem to be capable of thinking about things from a non-pk point of view, but it seems to be pointless to try to get them to see things from any other angle. I have tried many times and failed miserably. Their pk-goggle vision can't be helped. They only see pk.

As for BroD being removed or not.....I don't know if BroD is much worse than fighting a monster above your level or not. I know there are many guilds with BroD lists though. Heh. A true sign of hatred, I guess. I agree with the Nova/Quesar person (just have to joke about this a little). A person has to wonder if this takes into account all of what Radu had planned.

If you BroD a NMT cape and turn it into the unstable (is it really degraded if it gives bonuses?) version, I imagine you could find yourself dead thanks to the bonuses you helped the person get by BroDing their cape.

Nathan, get your head out your rear end please, and stop crusading against 'pkers' when, if you had bothered reading the original post you'd have seen A LOT of support from people who do not PK, and who practice PVE combat a hell of a lot more than you do (and I don't need to see your pixels in action to know that for a fact).

Btw: not voting in this poll, I'd like to see Radu's reply to the original thread before even coming back here.

  12. If NMT's don't leave the game (assuming saving stones are used for mixing), and are repairable, unless there is accelerated growth in the number of new players, there will be more and more NMT's entering the game than exiting. A few more saving stones would be used up, but there would never be a need for a player with an NMT to buy a newly dropped one. The quantity demanded would be dictated by the number of new players who can afford a NMT cape, rather than that same number plus players who have broken theirs.

What about repairing other cloaks (such as mirror) instead? (would require the mirror cape degrading to e.g. a black cloak without the mirror skin perk).

Another thing to keep in mind: If the NMT cloak is breakable, I'd imagine more players will want tailors to convert their NMT cloaks into NMW. Not a reliable way to level, but something for tailors to strive for level-wise, nonetheless.

I don't know about making other cloaks repairable, that sounds mighty much like making the 'rare cloaks' manuable, which then of course would include more enriched essies or rare stones, while we already have a shortage of those, especially the stones. <insert rant about top manuers driving up the prices to ridiculous heights>

As said, repairable or not, I'm fine either way, I just figured yesterday it might be a nice occasion to give new influence to a skill that, at the moment, is pretty much about leveling without incentive (except if bankrupcy is considered a goal too).

  13. To sum up:

NMT should be breakable, as proposed. Not repairable.

Suggestion: eliminate BroD to improve player environment.

Can agree with the 'not repairable' bit, although I do think that in that case: why not slightly increase breakrates in general? From what radu said earlier, he doesn't necessarily want NMTs to leave the game, but he does want the unbreakable item gone. Why not stimulate other skills in the process by making the cloak repairable, while also upping all breakrates by a small percentage. Anyways.. it's fine by me either way, I'll just neg to get the perk anyways :)

Would love to see brod removed from the game for all the reasons you named.

  14. Just give Lenny a Jenny to make lil kittens with. Jenny could be his companion on C2, and the lil_kittens could roam C1 and drop bags with rattails and dung across the continent ^^. And ofc free stuff for Korrode for being a loyal orchanpersonthingy.

Now seriously.. DHT's idea is cool, but I wouldn't like a creature to permanently roam C1, too discouraging for newbies, and too abusable by the rest of us.

  15. I think the idea is quite logical, but a bit disappointing since I'm still waiting for my first NMT, but I guess increased drop rate means I have a better chance of getting one...one day!
not too fond of the idea but I guess given the status of the degraded item it´s a fair(ish) compromise.

Why not make the No more warlock unbreakable instead though, while ofc keeping it a tailorable item only and maybe tweak the recipe some so it´s even more expensive? It´s a nice item, that rarely, if at all, gets used atm.

I may be due for a coffee, but ...

Won't that just encourage people to 'upgrade' their NMTs to NMW, with the result of driving the price of the scarce Warlock cape through the roof?

Yes it would, but with that comes the added chance of crit fails (items, but more likely saving stones), and the Warlock's cloak gets a bit more of a use than just being a nice poser item to go with the banana magic serp. Didn't realise the warlock capes were that rare, i rarely see demand for them while I have seen bots with 1 or 2 cloaks on them for quite a long time (their price doesn't really confirm the extreme rare bit either). Added to that, I think it would make people care for tailoring a bit more, and being the gc sink tailoring is, that should make teh God happy.

Anyways, Radu seems to want to get rid of the unbreakable items thing, so scrap the idea ;)

  17. So if I were to go harvest at NC north cave with my 110s a/d, and the cave were capped to say 60... I could basically harvest all day without any issue except for maybe some gutsy 60s a/der trying to come and tickle me? (both loc and cap randomly picked btw)

I understand and like the idea behind your suggestion but I think it will be pretty hard to implement, and basically would just end in giving an advantage to the people you're not really aiming at here.

The guys can still use other kinds of attacks, and only them can do it. We can do a test in test server, you trying to harvest in nc cave, and me trying to prevent you using poison/harm/mana drain/ranging, i am sure i can annoy the hell out of you and make the harvesting too costly...

Not if you have a char that's 40s or 50s a/d with training build, and I have a char that never got even 1 attack or def xp, but I did get levels by harvesting, levelling magic a bit (for MI at least), and managed to get p/c maxed with some other levels. The range would have to be very wide for some smartass to figure that out and basically get unlimited harvests in such a place while being close to immune to any form of attack. And making the a/d range too big, will kinda take away from the idea. So although I like your idea, I still think it's close to impossible to do without the unfair advantage.
