  1. Linux vs. Windows

Take a look at Suse 9.0 It was Very smooth, Ive tried RH and Mandrake Suse was the most smooth onto my PC. It even set up a boring version of the Nvidia Drivers for me, but in order to get the good drivers its still fairly manual. Try it out, though I hear Gentoo is a really good one also, I may look into it.
  2. Linux vs. Windows (mod oops)

Yes, That is one of the only downsides to linux I have found, Nvidia Graphics. I have not been using Linux long but I still cannot get my Nvidia working quite right. Its just experience I dont have yet. If "they" made it easier for Nvidia Graphics cards ohh, I wouldnt use windows at all. Another Pro about Linux vrs Windows, almost everything is Open source! and Free! ohh beautiful, the laws (if any are simple) and its very smooth. The ability to not have to restart EVERYTIME I DO SOMETHING is sweet. I can just restart X and not have to worry about the boring bios screen ect. Many Pros a few Cons, now people just need to see it! Come on Dell Preload Linux! (not going to happen)
  3. Ive got to be Honest.

I have no money when it comes to online games. I cannot pay to pay MMORPGs, thus why I am playing this game. I will work on a map and all I can help in the game so I can HOPEFULLY get a free Membership when they offer the Free/Members login. Heh. what do you all think? how many of you are in it just because its a good Free MMORPG and when it goes to Members your not going to play because you dont want to pay for it. Urrrg I guess that is one of my Pet Peeves, paying for games. I understand hosting servers and living off of an MMORPG must be tough thus you need money, but man I dont know if I can pay anything But let me tell you, I like this game Even though I am a newb to it. Lets get some imput on this topic: Paying for MMORPGs
  4. WinZip

My first Recomendation is get another version of Winzip, but the second recommendation is easier. If you belive it to be Winzip (which it sounds like) try downloading the file and unzipping it on another pc, then putting them (the unzipped files) on a CD and moving them to your PC. Last and only if all else fails Recommendation: Ask the EL staff to set up a FTP and just download the files unzipped.
  5. Ive got to be Honest.

I have not begun making my map yet, I need to get EL working in Linux well so I can find out what kind of map I will need to build. I have it working under Windows so I can play it, I just want to get the Superior OS working with EL. Never give up Never Surrender!
  6. Setting up Eternal Lands in Linux.

Thank you for that line I can now find out what my kernel is, but that does not solve the problem. I need to find out HOW-TO install my kernel source. If someone who has Suse 9.0 can just give me a brief step by step I would be very appreciative. Thanks. Kernels are tricky too. (If this post gets to long Ill just beg someone I know to help me get it working, but Id rather do it myself if someone can tell me how "newb") EWQ222
  7. Linux Live CD

Yes, ive got a copy, its fun to take to school and scare teachers (not that I have done it) Its also a very good way of testing out Linux, but believe me linux is so much better than Dynebolic. Suse 9.0 for example is so smooth! I only have a basic understanding of linux and I was able to get it up in running in about 1 1/2 hours (including install time) try out Dynebolic, it has some illegal software on it I belive (Freecraft for example), but it works.
  8. Setting up Eternal Lands in Linux.

Heh, graphics are tricky. Ok,here is the story. I dont know how to get my kernel source. I tried the CD approach (Yast Add/remove programs.) But I need to know what kind of Kernel I am running and why the Nvidia installer wont find it. I belive I am using the kernel "optimized for AMD processors" but I must say this NVidia installer is fairly simple. I have seen so many walkthroughs on this but I cannot find one with my particual problem. If you want the exact errors Ill give them to you. Still Trying, EWQ
  9. Setting up Eternal Lands in Linux.

Its not that easy, I have to switch down to runlevel 3 then install the program but that doesnt work because it has kernal problems, so I supposedly have to recompile my kernal, not that much fun. humm, do you know a good walkthrough through the process? Still trying
