  1. Removing rule 5 (multiplaying)

I just want to address the question of player interaction. Currently players are allowed alts if the do not interact, so if this is the problem, then it already exists in-game. Therefore, no one should have any alts or be allowed to go AFK in this game at all, if doing so would prevent them from replying in a timely fashion. I presume some PK server players could voice their opinions on this, if having multi charas limit player interactions on a social level in anyway. I also see this unbalanced statement like, "need to interact knowing the 'real' human running what chara" followed with "its a roleplay game" should it matter who is behind a character since a jerk tends to be a jerk regardless of account? Granted I hate griefers and would not want to see this as a way for griefers to flourish. ---------------------------------------- So some of the main nays reasons are: Human interaction will diminish Makes game too easy Ruined economy Do see Trojan_Knight and conavar points, it would forever change the server population to mean: new player * allowed account = ?, so every new player may mean 3+ accounts. So we could end up with a 3k max slots server with 1k people on it. But this is the same result as a large influx of new people. Are we afraid of the game expanding?
  2. Removing rule 5 (multiplaying)

Well its just theory atm because nothing can be proved either way, but if with the increased harvesters the "find" rates for stones are changed to be low, then the price for say a serp stone could increase 10 fold, and while this might be fine for ppl who can run a few alts, it totally buggers ppl with only one char, and moves the goalposts in favour of those with the best comp rather than those who (ingame) work the hardest. The same could be said of mob drop rates. An economy should be based on "1 person = 1 char" and not on " well you could afford it if you had 5 alts" since not everyone wants or should be forced to have 5 alts just to be able to compete. But like I said just theory atm So it more about the speed in which one -human- player can gain wealth in-game, through in-game means. I guess the person most likely to lose out, in this arrangement is the person playing one character, never using real world money to buy in-game items. side note: { Which would end up being me, since I cannot run 4-5 charas, all day and would get financially 'pWn'd' by a 15 yr old with beacoups of free time, but like that was not the case before. Im an allrounder and this would totally squash my reasons for being one :/ } As I see it, those stating "it would cause a massive influx of iron ore, etc" don't see that, 500 new players will cause that as well, and we all want to see 500+ new players join the game. I can only see 'rare' items price becoming inflated (its already happening, 20k rosto ftl), and not production items. As it currently stands, there are few skills that are in fact profitable. Take manu, Steel Greaves cost 27k+ to make, but no one will pay that. This would at least allow a player to manu, serve and ultimately break those items on various characters. Granted this is all "In House" production. So to stop production items (items you make not find)from bottoming out price wise, create NPCs that buy them, and ensure the bottom price? Or make a spell that transmutes those items into GC? So we probably need to address, "How does this affect the one character, no usd player? Can s\he ever compete?" Probably the real issue here, instead of the 'human interaction" and 'ruin the economy" reasons. It seems it more about the playing field becoming grossly unleveled for the lone character rpg'r. Just trying to keep an open mind, since my last reaction was hEll-NO! Really because I did not want to play that way, but hell, its not about ensuring my personal playing style. (And yes, PVP would have to Die. or you could pvp, your alts insanely fast, in a guild map to levels requiring RL interventions. And this would have a profound change on Attack and Defense leveling )
  3. Removing rule 5 (multiplaying)

Just curious, you feel it may throw off the economy, but you don't know about "#ignore_bots" ? I just have one question to offer, can anyone give a concise example of how it will affect the economy?
  4. Removing rule 5 (multiplaying)

This post is Gleaned from the "MoAR epic ramblin P0sts NAO!!~~" dept, you're welcome. From the last poll, I'm now 'hugging the fence' on this one, I can see pro and cons of it. Lets look plainly at them: Cons: ( of allowed things ) Less -Real Human to another Human- interaction. It true, someone could play avoiding interacting with anyone. Server population Instantly triples+. Assuming everyone has a "main" and at least 2 alts, we will shortly max the server Gives the win to the person with the most, comp power\people\free time to 'level' their 'family', and less to the $ Pk entrances and arenas will be cover with 'scouting alts' to see if anyone is there or enters. Without limitations, char creation will probably cause 1000s of disposable charas, made one day for a pk scout, kill me, repeat. Assuming certain resources like silver\iron\etc would be bought less, since someone can have a alt 'live there'. Pros: Some could play without interacting with anyone else. The community isn't what its made out to be. Generally its petty, small town and highly vindictive. (IE, someone goes on about something that happened 2 RL years ago, ingame) It would allow more Roleplay, since someone could make a specialize limited chara just to explore one story line of a rpgs development. It would be easier. Less time spent on harving and more time on interacting with that small town petty mob. As it currently stands most non GM or channel chat occurs at storages\ores. More p2ps would be bought. Since there will be more charas ingame, probably more shop sales. Players would be more than one character, but more like a conglomeration, a family of charas. Harv on one, Chase monsters on the other, now there will be more people playing ingame than afk harving whilst browsing youtube. I personally don't think it would cause more cases of cheating, such as macroing or other such lameness. I think the moderation staff is the cause of keeping it controlled and not disallowing multi. I do notice that the people most adamant against are hardcore AFK'rs, I am one myself, I play while working and afk mine most of the time. I couldn't work and do a billion charas, so I would get left behind in the rat race. Eventually, when the server reaches max population levels, being 24 hours AFK cannot be allowed. So multi does cause these people, eventually to be forced to log off. I admit this is why I played EL to begin with, I could AFK while working and not get logged off. However I see this as a reason some people maybe voting against this topic. I also disagree with the community is what makes el, entirely my opinion, but I think what makes el is the moderation and the course of decisions made by the development team. The el community can be petty, vindictive, and 'nosey'. It is very small town like and people whine\cry\brag about ingame events that occur 1+ Real Life years ago. The same people end up harassing the same people for RL years, its a game, but for some its their only outlet in their disempowered life. There are good people, there are totally nice people, but the community alone is not this tree lovin benign happy fun time nao!~ group everyone seems to make them out to be. It may also attract more people to play el, since villages that share IPS, or family won't have to reveal any personal information in order to play. Of all the player that have been banned over time, due to violating -only- rule #5, perhaps our average online players would be 1k+ now. You should stop cheaters, but things should not be so strict that people are totally disuading from playing at all. In Closing, I have witness Real Life towns, that fought 'tooth and nail' any change to their town, only to watch everyone move away. "New prison, BAD! New Store baaad!, New new omfgawd badd!" "Don't want to bring a bad element to our beloved Fair Haven!~" And tada, all their kids move away. Town Dies. I know its a RL anology to a Fantasy game, but if we insist on talking about the community, we must treat it like one. So are we voting for the games appeal and future, or our own style of play?
  5. Optional change to Pathfinding

Same is true for load. Use up most of your emu, you cant run. So someone will a full ore load, or Heavy Armors\Weapons\etc, can't run, but the ranger\mage can (perhaps just for longer)
  6. P2P expiration, 5 October

No. p2p one year thing = 1 year. Not "for a month"
  7. Mage Staff

Well offensive magic is a range type skill. The rs like staff he is referring to , lets a player bind a spell to the staff, so you attack and it instantly casts that spell on the target, until essence is out (rs calls it 'runes' same thing) Magic should allow you to cast a 'harm' (or in this example fire bolt) at a distance. Currently el requires all mages to fight at melee distance (<= 5 tiles) IMHO magic needs the distance that rangers have. It makes magic for a mage rather difficult, since he has to practically stand on the opponent to cast anything.
  8. Artwork Updates

Wow great work! I really love the look on the rednecks....err ogres face "jeet yet? Uh ima goin to eetz mi som gnoms" Orc, Ogres, Trolls, Cyclops all look outstanding. Can't wait to see them ingame.
  9. Trial: Violent theft

I definitely have a much more cynical approach to this topic. The city I live in the USA, a few months back, we beat Iraq for the number of violent deaths in a 72 hour period. So the first terribly cynical thing I can say at first is, consider yourself lucky you can count and retell the number of violent homicides occurring there. I do think (not a lawyer, anyone?) in the USA, the 2nd kid would get the same or nearly the same punishment as the killer. He would get a severe punishment for '...doing nothing to stop the felony'. Well for that matter, kids get juvenile youth center jail for drinking a beer under the age of 18-21 (state dependent) here. How do we stop this? How do we progress from a pure animal competition for resources (cigs, mp3 players, etc) I don't know, that answer is nobel prize worthy. But I can say, I recommend doing something to prevent Belgium from degrading into the 'wild west' style life many cities in the USA experience, and other aggressive countries around the world. Because in the USA, murder is a right of passage for many urban youths.
  10. Picture of the new Mule

Its not according to: See: Eternal Lands development journal
  11. The Chim Project

I have a serious question. If the MCs and FCs get weaken so they can be boxed, can I have the yetis lowered so I can box those too? At my ad, they would be much better experience than an MC. Currently I cannot box them with pc 48 48. If they are not lowered I will be forced to usurp someone's MC spawn out of my childish frustration.
  12. The Chim Project

I voted no twice. I also have the same opinions in regards to the mythical community. [i agree with BadFlip,LochnessLobster and both are long experienced chim fighters] [random thoughts, non contigous forgive me] I like my monsters tough to fight, everything ingame doesn't have to be like fluffies. I can't see softening the chims, so I can bitch slap 'em for hours, a very exciting prospect. (From a game enjoyment POV) Truly, we talking about changing them so 4-7 people can get multi'd in RoT and get uber experience? I'm an experienced PvE so I can see the obvious bullshit under the benevolence for the mythical community. Dumbing down 2 monsters so a small minority can 'own' pk faster, what about bored PvEs? If the MC\FCs get weakened, then my community of one, wants more ACs in doze-able non pk areas, pl0x. As much as I would like a system that would let me get massive [ATTACK] exp, I can't image playing a game, where ALL the PvE was boxing for hours. I would vote to use the tokens for Boss type monsters(Really Giant pissed off Spider ), or a nasty Hellhound style chim (woof ) 'tween MC and AC. I personally just like to play the game and not: (exp * my spreadsheet skillz / my over-analyzing a game) + my-notions-of-trainable = needs an intervention Don't get me wrong, I totally empathize with wanting more attack experience. But really, if its not about fun anymore, vote for an EXP NPC we can trade tokens too. 1 token = 500k exp in a skill of your choosing. Personally I rather see across the board, the experience gaining system altered to promote fighting monsters with weapons more appealing. The games great swords and such should not be only limited to PK and posing.
  13. Christmas Snow

So, why do you people hate America and the Baby Jesus so much? I hope this is sarcasm.
  14. The Bronze Sword

I said "fragile Halberd (40-55 damage), with a few plus modifiers." Well it doesn't make it worth 1/25 with your stats, it no longer serves its purpose. its still very fragile, and now, with those stats, a normal weapon. Why are you replying to a statement I made months ago with the, 'band-aid solutions' comment? You referred to it 3 times in this post and I made no reference in my current post. Its bizarre you are replying to that now, after this much time has passed. I am with you on promoting 'game' balance, but removing\altering one weapon will not fix it. Its designed to do massive damage and kill people and what you want is combat level PvP. I don't know what experience you have with other games of this type, but there is a difference between the duels between ~approx equal combat level players and PK. Entropy has stated before, and I thought he was joking, there are going to be NUKES, in game. They will wipe out an entire map for 250k+ one use and you are worried about 20 more damage on a fragile sword? Seriously, when you see the scythes stats: (Imagine a BoD and a Halberd in one , you're going to faint) This is true for all suggestions that are not, new ideas, but complaints about the current game mechanics.
  15. The Bronze Sword

{Warning: Epic Post, may cause drowsiness, don't operate heavy machinery after reading} Forgive me, but I just want to underline problem in-game over the terms of PvP and PK. (please don't feel I'm attacking you) "discourages me to PK when i have 2-3 ppl gang me" In this example, you are not Pking, you're being PK'd. It is understandable, in "PK" to be discouraged from Player Killing, by dying to a PK team. However if you are REALLY looking for Player vs Player combat, and are interrupted by a PK team, that is another story and more about the games combat mechanics than a single weapon. Now I don't mean all PvP is safe, and not to the death, its more about combat fun and less about 1..2..3.. boom dead, pick up drop next!~!~11 "just a free brick to the castle rly; or 4 hours of harvesting to get it back >.<" This also has little to do with the power of a single weapon, but more about "time to acquire in-game items". If I took 20 minutes instead of 4 hours, would the weapon matter as much? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (off topic, humor me pul-leaze, feel free to just ignore this, since it really needs to be in suggestions, maybe later) I think at some point, there needs to be a distinction between PvP and PK. In EL, PvP has really come to mean, "boxing (or using a very weak weapon in some cases) for hours on end, in order to gain experience in mainly defense, with a marginal gain in attack experience" (I so need to make a consolidated suggestion post don't I ) Perhaps one way to fix these problems and Kill Boxing PvP in a guild map forever is: experience in Attack, Range, Magic could changed by the amount of damage applied to the target. (Not sure about the math of it, but harder you hit, more exp, no more bunnies slapfests) Perhaps defense could be governed by the amount of damage avoided or absorbed. This would mean a 90ad person or a 40 ad could perhaps "train" in trolls with an OS and be rewarded somewhat equally. Harm and offensive spells would end up giving more exp, than hours of mana draining in the safe guild map. The same is true for range, bigger money sink since Ice Arrows would cost a lot but give maximum experience. Or maybe its a totally dumb idea ( it may make it easier for those dirty newbs (eww ), but it would make it fun, I'd rather range\harm monsters for experience, than mana drain\Range Pvp a person in a clickfest ping pong. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  16. The Bronze Sword

It cannot be considered to be a 'poor mans' thermal serp, because it does not have any cold or fire damage. Its at best a poor mans BoD, the break rate replacing the percentage to do massive damage. (Therm is affected by -/+ heat cold modifiers, so against steel, Ive done 70+ hits) Its a coup de grĂ¢ce weapon. I could understand your complaint(s), if this weapon had a break rate of great swords, but like the BoD, you are paying for the chance of doing massive damage in a short period of time. (To answer the obvious reply, BoD has a red cape for defense: Bone of Death does not have extremely high break stats either.) So if this weapon now has 40-50 damage you have successfully created a fragile Halberd (40-55 damage), with a few plus modifiers. Basically a weapon no one will use. The bronze sword is even called a "PK" weapon. PvP in most games is considered Player vs Player combat with or without weapons. Player Killing on the other hand was never meant to be fair. PKing is about killing and not a long drawn out PvP taking 5-6 minutes. You have to pick, As fair as I can tell, you want PK removed from the game. You essentially want combat level dependant PvP with the possiblity of reward at the end, with very little risk. IMHO so many EL players have a distorted view of PvP and PK because of the words misuse in this game. And to argue that 'newbs' are in grave danger from this weapon, is silly. They are at equal risk to a star med\Halberd, etc (Make a graduated pk map for this, levels depending on how large an ad gap can fight each other.) So in closing, you better get your Pom-Poms ready, you're going to need them when you see the Scythe's stats.
  17. New wards

I never considered that initially. A ranger(s) could drive off a ward'd group by remote fire. (off topic since its another 'wishlist') I do think rangers need greater range, and "run_to" to be implemented eventually, but both are questions about game mechanics. (I.e. How far can you see, server load, client load, how will running affect everything, pk, mining, etc ) Well for that matter, magic needs a bit more range. You have to be in melee range to cast spells, it really needs to extend beyond the 5 tiles attack range (melee)
  18. New wards

Make it so wards have a chance to be destroyed by mines|rc mines. Therefore that creates a 'sapper' type mission, for engineers. Its much like the after effects of large summon stones (Giants etc). Once used it requires several sorties, or a team assault to remove the defenders. (random assertion) There should be all types of options for various player types in combat, engineers, range, magic, melee. If everyone could participate, with their own style, I think participation would increase. (random suggestion) (IMHO this game whilst waiting for the implementation of player built cities, could really use some sort of cross guild team CTF map of some sort, invasion type tokens as the prize, npc to redeem them. Only way into this map is by paying an npc, you arrive at a staging area, etc) (And\Or have rostos poof into a 50% chance of a 'reward\invasion' token.)
  19. Christmas Snow

I agree with Troger, the main problem with events like this is not everyone celebrates Christmas and by having an event like this is endorsing, ingame, the offical RL religion of the game. Lets keep it out.
  20. Getting More Players To Try PK Server

My thoughts exactly I agree with you. Believe me, I really agree with you. PS: I can even quote dates. Get it! And out of context quotes, Got it!
  21. Getting More Players To Try PK Server

("to be part of the community" what if the player just doesn't wanna hang out with ya? Its a game server, in no part are you required to befriend anyone) Yeah sure, thanks for reassuring me the server isn't a hostile clique, Great Job. (type type) edit: fixed quote on segors request 8)
  22. mohawk

since this is a random p2p wishlist... Id like the bald orchan without the skullet and maybe a gnarly scar somewhere. or a vampire p2p
  23. Getting More Players To Try PK Server

I wasn't going to post, but I must at least address a post directed at me. I wont initiate any posts, but I will reply to things asked of me. When did I say or imply, that 'other people can't understand what you wrote' or that 'doesn't make it any different.'. I cannot spell it out any other fashion, nor do I care anymore. I posted to help and not in some evil attempt to bring down the mighty pk\mixing server clique. Again, too funny. I'm not trying to "bring down" anything, kk? There is nothing to do better...its a game, click click, bunny dies. The bizarre part is you "what the others do instead of doing better." seem to think "others" are "jealous" of "what community you built". Really, All I am saying is some NEW players would like to be assured they can trade, say whatever they want without being subjected to the rules of a group of people who are smaller than numbers than most guilds on the main. Get me? Ok, I play the main, while I work or at home, for fun. Shocker I know, sure beats solitaire or hours of youtube. Apparently you've imagined I've sat in turmoil for 90 days straight, in agony over playing the pk server. Probably 65 seconds total of random brain time over the course of several months watching the posts of the chosen few. What I am trying, obviously in vain, is you need to address those issues some people have with the current player base and the overly player moderated mixing server. If you guys are going to get any new people, it would be best to improve your PR. And on the last point of actions, words, its a game, its click click typing. I don't think anyone cares about anyones clicking ability, except for those who have forgot its a game and not some surrogate RL. But in hopefully final closing, Good Luck, go ahead and entice no one else join the server. Have fun with the 5-6(?) people and their alts, its the small community most of you want, permanently.
  24. Getting More Players To Try PK Server

No I said the whole apparent 'community' is a bit pompous for people that play a computer game. LOL, just an fyi no one is 'envious' or 'jealous' of you, and if you think so, its part of the problem I'm trying to elaborate on, oh noble pioneers. If you need respect on any GAME server, then you need ... well probably a lot of things. Oh I said: And I got ( ) Ok not a threat... you're totally screwed for new players if you think joining the server is a threat. and I not 'ruining genuine threads' the odd part is you cannot see the point I am trying to make at all. When you reply its only to highlight what I am talking about, its a weird vicious circle. See that is the funny part, he and I are probably as enemy as they come. Ok, good luck. I'm trying to tell you your IMAGE of being a little petty group of people who have labeled themselves the pioneers of the GAME server. Appears to many people like something they would not want to spend $5 to be involved with. Piggy\Mugwump is a really nice guy, and made a sincere thread in order to discuss how the pk server could entice more people. I try to tell you part of what, at least for me, keeps me from even bothering, and I am met with the very thing I would want to avoid in a game. This is great advertising. [Edit] I won't post ever again on any thread related to or about the pk server. Ill wait until the server count somehow reaches ~100 so I have a greater selection of people to interact with. Sorry for interrupting the fiefdom
  25. Getting More Players To Try PK Server

Nothing again to do with rules, everything to do with image of the players currently playing and how that would attract others. [edit: added this] I would call them PLAYERS. ROFLMAO, I didn't even get to wait a full day, before my point was made. Oh btw I mean give up explaining from my side, the non participant, that the problem isn't the $5.
