  1. New command #pray god and/or holy symbols

Do some quick research, you'll see. Glad you lol'd tho, it's good for you. In any case, in the absence of an item used to invoke a god's blessing remotely, I really like Conavar's idea - especially considering how many new quests have been and may continue to be added to the game. @chr0nik Read a link before you use it as a reference, it has ~50 crosses related to Christianity and its various sects. With 6 references that are not, like Skull and Crossbones, Swastika, besides the Ankh and a Norse symbol, its the defacto symbol for one religion, lets leave this out of a game. ----- I do think if a univeral item is not used, the 'offering' type item should reflect the particular Mortos\Aluwen etc you which to receive the bonus from, it could help remove items from the game instead of creating a new one. I think populating the game with shrines would be overkill, imho.
  2. New command #pray god and/or holy symbols

Easy turbo. There are 15 bazillion different types of crosses w/ origins supposedly dating back to the stone age, I don't think anyone is attempting to include their personal religious icons into Eternal Lands. But you know, we could have prayer mats for the gods or even prayer beads that you have to use 500 times to get the blessing. Edit: Typo I lol'd really. Regardless of how many types of that particular religious symbol exists, its still just from one religion. And of that religion they would only date back to the religions creation, which was not 'the stone age'. Its is NOT a universal symbol. I think blind belief that everyone thinks the same way, is an attempt. Please keep it a fantasy game, sigh. @Conavar: I think asking for divine intervention is combat is more reaslistic than the countless wardrobe changes we currently can do. But I guess really its about what item and how you get a remote blessing, because the blessing mechanic is already there.
  3. New command #pray god and/or holy symbols

Déjà vu repeating myself ftl It should be a Eternal Lands fantasy symbol and nothing from someones RL religion, please, if a medallion was to be used for this purpose. A magical stone can be a holy symbol, the fact the game has many magical stones this makes absolute perfect sense. Now thats the spirit I still like the idea, sans personal agendas.
  4. New command #pray god and/or holy symbols

Great idea, in any version. But don't let this be a level 80 engineering item, that takes 3 ice dragon scales each. Nothing that is certain to make it totally unused great idea. It should be a Eternal Lands fantasy symbol and nothing from someones RL religion, please, if a medallion was to be used for this purpose.
  5. (Do we also mean Exc\Fast Regen\etc perks too?) Well this would have a side effect, while it would get rid of some drop capes the market value of BP\Mirror capes will inflate. However, due to Mirror Cloak's break rate its tough to buy one, let alone 500 :/ Maybe the results are wanted, 40k for mirror cloaks, 30k for Bp cloaks ? While it would create an exit for NMTs, it makes it a rich player only thing. At 12 million for the NMT perk, Do we really want that too, along with PPs?
  6. new buddy list

I experienced the same thing 3C (Hex) (Also on the test, yesterday). Relogging did not help, but I did #clear_buddy, then relogged removed it.
  7. Mod abuse

Did you read any of this thread before you came to this conclusion? Or did you just managed to read the title. He was mad because: a mod enforced a rule he broke he neglected to read he was warned once 1 minute and 31 seconds later..he repeated and then only received a minor 20 minute penalty for it. Many of those "reviews' are little shit griefers that had their fun stopped, poor them.
  8. Mod abuse

This is a common thing amongst online games. Somehow players believe their alledged Real Life rights somehow apply to this or any game. You violated the rules and received a 20 mintute warning, and instead of accepting the penalty, its the 'I'm quitting' drama. If fact, you recieved 2 warnings: Then, ignoring warning one, you received warning #2 [20:29:46] You were channel muted (can't talk on the channels for 20 minutes) by Maxine. [20:30:03] [PM to Maxine: Thanks for proving my point.] Then your only reply is a smartass one? Others have said this before, this game survives because of Moderation. There are many games without moderation or any at all. (Delayed moderation, reporting people in such as Runescape, doesn't count). Quickly griefers can overwhelm a game with nothing better todo (For days mind you) than ruin everyone else's play. My $4.23 USD (I windbag'd it passed 0.02 =D )
  9. 1v1 arena to the death

Yeah, I didn't post because I'm a search-nazi , only to say its a great idea and perhaps, in all of our suggestions over the years, exists a work-able solution that could be developed. Your post is short and sweet, a way to fight (one or more) people, in a pre-arranged contest without outside intervention. Plus you covered wagering in your edit, not all of us have the free time to write epic posts Asgnny's idea probably is the most recent and probably the most timely with the current development of EL. Since we have a 'instance' for PvE, it seems reasonable the system exists to make this PvP as well. On leaving it in player's hands: I don't think leaving it in the hands of the players, to form duels will ever work, good will and any noble combat does not exist in pk in any game. All of the agreed duels I have personally experienced in the past, were merely set-ups. NCa is THE place where someone hides behind a wall, and the -dueling- party is jumped by his -partners- friends. KF never faired any better, so a new arena will not solve the pk setups of the past. Also I don't claim any sort of personal honor in this at all, I have jumped many people there myself, playing my boogieman role of an assassin (or asshat depending on your perspective).
  10. 1v1 arena to the death

Its not a dumb idea, its a great one, so great in fact it was deemed 'been suggested before S34rCh!" in teh dark ages. Although you didn't use the words duel arena, dueling, this is basically what you are asking for, unless I am mistaken Asgnny's thread: http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=50237 Old thread (with Anshar\Kheres\Vanyel\Eori\Nastume\...) saying "search!" lol http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.p...p;hl=duel+arena old references to a duel feature http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.p...p;hl=duel+arena http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.p...p;hl=duel+arena http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.p...p;hl=duel+arena http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.p...p;hl=duel+arena Couple back in the dark ages of 2004 http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.p...p;hl=duel+arena http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6449l I like this idea, again,
  11. New Skill - Animal Instinct

I like this idea, this again (to me) shows the players are wanting and leaning toward some-sort-of class based play or character discpline development. The idea you suggest is straight out of the design for Barbarian, Druid, or Ranger type characters. (Any nature lore type role play). 'Class-less' only leads to one giant, we all look alike super class, and then to boredom. ( mah sekrit agendaz)
  12. storage blowout sale

How much for: 50 augment leather armor sets (Would 11k? work ) I would like to buy 'em.
  13. Dragon Great Swords

To make a comparsion to other games and old rpgs (paper). (Talking about attributes first, not the weapon damage) [on attributes] a little background digression: A character that would gain might, beyond the systems standard might, would be a Barbarian\Berserker. To give a warrior, knight style character additional damage without a penalty to Reaction, would unbalance things again, possibly requiring another tweak. (BY knight, warrior; I mean the ability to wear plate\advanced armor and shields, with the ability to have high reaction. A barbarian, typically cannot wear plate type armors, it can deal massive damage and has large hitpoints, but it is incapable of shield blocking and really any evasion.) So, perhaps: IMHO, what need to happen it to finally embrace that some level of classes is needed, at least in the fighting arena, we have been slowly leaning toward that via perks for some time now. With the introduction of rationality based harm, restore, rheal, and ranging, i think its unavoidable. I think balance is impossible when you try to make fighting one giant super class, in an effort to avoid classes. The body of a marathon runner is much different than a sprinter, even though they both run, this is natural. -------- [on weapons tweaks] Do you increase weapon damage or lessen the armor rating? The problem with introducing a stronger weapon in order to nerf toughness and armors, is now you need stronger armors to defend against this uber weapon :/ If this weapon is made, there will be later complaints that its -too powerful- and the best armor in the game can do nothing to stop it. We have already fielded complaints about Bronze Swords, so I doubt a massive hitting weapon will balance anything. Then if you lessen dragon armors, you may need to tweak all armors downward, or the expense of the dragon armor, is not justified any longer. Its a trap. So my conclusion is to re-assert, that we will never balance a super class. We need to expect certain builds\classes will flatly destroy one class, and completely lose to another. If you create a battle-mage super class, it has a tendency to make fights endless, and the only way to win or lose, is dependant on mana\potion management, bah boring. (rangers, ninja perks, mages, remote heal scalable, perception\stealth, and so on) ---- Probably too late for that, but it has slowly been heading in that direction since the caps, why not embrace it? (this ends my sekrit agendaz kktybai )
  14. New quest

Finished the quest, nice reward. I love those kind of quests (without revealing too much) I would play 100s of PvE related ones.
  15. New quest

in your time of writing you could click all over TG. senseless to make more clues its like drawing a map.... i never seen game with more clues ^^ just a "quest" should be enough for you to explore since you try that and since you are interested of it... 20 new NPCs in update should me more then enough to give any little clue ! (cant find any other use of that NPCs) Does anyone have a clue to what he just said, I need a hint. [on topic of start locations] Given the size of the game, it would normally take longer than 1h45m for the start location to be determined. No real need for a hint, just time allowed for exploration. Even knowing it was in the TG school, it took me 10-25? mins of schleping around it, to find it. Now to go on the quest, in my slow arse way =D
  16. Michael Jackson dead.

Thats the whole point, no one cares about what possible wrong a hero does, they are forgiven. It allows many heros to do whatever they want to do, all with follower approval. Scary. Who says people have to care about possible wrong things. As long as it isn't prooven he did it, the people who like MJ for his music, will deny it happend. Let them? And I doubt a single person would approove of MJ shagging kids. Love that word.. shagging. Again, that is the point and the problem. The followers of any cultish leader will deny the wrong doing of that leader -regardless- of whether it is proven or disproven. Even in the event its is factually proven, followers will insist it was a fabrication created to defame their leader. This level of hero worship is dangerous, fine enjoy someones work, but the level of devotion into a god-man idol, is scary. Kool-Aid? anyone. (p.s. to repeat conavar's statement: innocent people do not settle out of court for a fortune, because they lack time )
  17. New Item: Magic Wand

The game already has two magic wands: Bone of Death, and the Branch of Destruction. Can we remove them, now?
  18. Bug with Evanescence perk

Yeah your assumption is false, you don't get exp when evanescence works. Evanescence cancels the damage caused by 10% of your opponent's successful hits. You never get def exp when the opponent successfully hits you (even if that hit's damage is 0 because of armour or evanescence). To run your test you need a noob character fighting with a col and nothing else equipped. Without the perk, the character should take some damage for every hit from the cyclops. Only with the perk would it sometimes take 0 damage. You do get defense experience, see Entropy's statement on it. http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.p...st&p=501720
  19. Michael Jackson dead.

Ateh already covered it, but just a quicky addition: Thats the whole point, no one cares about what possible wrong a hero does, they are forgiven. It allows many heros to do whatever they want to do, all with follower approval. Scary.
  20. Michael Jackson dead.

Cool, this was fast, and very interesting. My little test on the sanctity of Mike Joe Jackson's name, and any full or abbreviations was met by 3 people, rather quickly. Funny how this was met with 3 replies, but 'would you let your 10 yr old son, sleep over with a middle aged man' still manages to remain ignored. Poor Marlon, sniff Roman, you still don't understand the point of that post. It was to show that I could use bullshit propaganda about that person, seemly making them good and completely ignoring the bad, this time when you used it, you only help me make my point, you selected things that make that particular dictator look bad and that singer look good. Thank you. Although this disclosure wasn't expected and I lol'd, For those of you that have never been to Gary, Indiana, USA. I suspect almost everyone there has a hard childhood, it fcking dangerous just to drive around, come to the USA and make it a pilgrimage destination.
  21. Michael Jackson dead.

[heros] I notice a couple keys, in regards to hero worship. I notice he is being referred to as MJ. This follows making the person more than human, a demigod. MJ is also Michael Jordan, a damn fine bball guy, but apparently still it far from man-god status. I notice, not here, but in other places, naming him Mike Jackson is completely abhorred since it makes him less god-like. There are plenty of people, whose names will never be known that have and are fighting to make the world a better place. These people have gone quietly everyday delivering food to the hungry, medicine to the sick. However, they will never be anyone's hero. We prefer our sports, music, art, hero's to reach this demigod status, with few nods to men and women like Gandhi and mother Teresa. The ability to sell a massive quantity of something should not make someone, a legend. The people that do not like that this type of person becomes a hero, legend for all of us to admire, or appeal to being like, some human idolatry, a demigod, have an equal right to complain when these people are worshipped. I say, feel free to enjoy a person music or body of work, but no singer is a hero legend for all mankind. -- [on genius] Einstein was assumed genius, but he did things like forget to comb his hair, and was mostly an distance asshole, not have preteen boys sleepovers. People like to use the term genius, not to express one persons mental powers, but to explain why they cannot do what this particular person can do. Its a term to allow them to forgive their own failings by allowing the other person to be -more than human-, just more hero worship. Stop all this hero worship-type posting on a now deceased singer please, you're not impressing anyone. (p.s.) yes infamous, its amazing, its completely ignored. It really shows how powerful hero-fication is, these people are infallible. Poor guy was just a few sells and mega concerts in Rio from it :/
  22. Michael Jackson dead.

The depression was nearly over, when Hitler came to power, he was just benefiting from what others did and the general situation of economy world wide. that was already done during the 10 years before he came into power. Indeed, but others got that idea years ago and built the first autobahn between Cologne and Bonn, before Hitler started to build any. (that autobahn was later degraded to a simple street, because it's impossible, that someone else than Hitler started to build Autobahns.) Lol, i guess, that was Ferdinand Porsche Yeah, more luck next time with facts And what has that all to do with Michael Jackson? A lot. False accusations, false facts, all the same. And i still have no idea why someone is posting about Hitler in a Michael Jackson thread Is he that fascinating? Do you want him back? Piper If you had actually read, my -facts- were bullshit propaganda, just like the rest of the mike jacksons wonderful gifts to the world. I brought that into this thread to highlight even sympathic germans to their old leader, can still blindly see him as good. I am jewish and lost 15 members of my family in the holocaust, enjoy.
  23. Michael Jackson dead.

And that, my friend, is exactly why things are not always black or white. I believe in cases like these we have to look at the intention. Let's look at it this way: * Hitler did positive things for Germany BECAUSE he wanted to become its president and start wars killing lots of people. * But did M. Jackson compose/record/perform all his music and donate to all the charities just BECAUSE he wanted to have fun with some young meat? That might have been the case, and if so, it's fucked up, but we can agree that's it VERY improbable. Thus, MJ wins again EDIT: grammar Oh this is going to be fun. (disclaimer: I'm from an ethnic origin that nazis hate, hence I'm no nazi supporter, ehem) Have you ever read Mein Kampf? I have read but the English\German. So I cannot even answer your first bullet list item. The way you answered just highlights my original assertion about hero worship. That no matter how evil or misguided a person is, those people who wish to worship this person can always highlight good things, in the shadow of all the bad. --- [on mike jackson's behaviour] I'm certain Mike Jackson, living in Gary, IND as a plumber, would have done the exact same thing with his creepy behavior with and around male boys. Mike Jackson's cultish followers seem to totally glaze over is the fact he was a mentally ill person and no amount of accolades for singing, dancing, painting, poetry, charitable donates, allows you to do whatever you want and violate social norms in doing so. It fine to say, He had some good songs, He gave to charity,(hell I could probably recite all the lyrics on the thriller album, the only real thing he ever did) but most of his supporters talk about him in a zealous hero worship way as if he was their Messiah. He did admit to having pj sleepovers, with exclusively pre-teen males, none of them related to him, and sleep in the same bed. This isn't make a wish bullshit, this is a sick person, who at 45, should be socializing with adults, both public and intimate. I'm sorry you can't use the "I'm peter pan" to get a ok nod to be a creepy weirdo. The police did confiscate, all the barely legal, club, etc porn mags in his bathroom and bedroom, the bottle of whiskey, the soiled undergarments, none of this is up for jury speculation. This is all fact, either by Mike Jackson himself, or the police evidence collection. --- [On hero worship] So will Bill Gates receive the same hero worship when he dies? He has given far more to charity than Jackson ever managed between buying creams, chimps and other expenses (He is still in debt, in death) Or will Bill Gates get mostly ignored because his original persona was never sexualized? I really think this is the core of it, since Jim Morrison and Elvis both received the same level of hero worship but a guy like Roy Orbinson did not. --- (Side note: on the drama, the person created it all himself. The baby dangling, the masks, he paid for the mutilation, the pajamana parties with boys, the neverland ranch,;a child sexual predators haven. Too bad he didn't focus on music, instead of the 99% of the other weird shit) --- Gohan, I have started the "leave gohan alone" crying youtube post, but I need a lock of hair and maybe clothing item in order to start teh voodoo shrine.
  24. Remind you of EL

http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=35599 not really buried, in general chat tho
  25. Michael Jackson dead.

This is amazing read, I still, and I don't know why, am amazed that hero worship is this powerful. Instead of addressing that this person was a seriously mentally ill person, and things this person stated he in fact did, the hero-fication goes on to list the awards this person received. You could list the awards given to that person by their cultish following but it in NO way validates that persons real life and not the fantasy one generated by the followers or pr machine. John Wayne Gacy was a clown and brought smiles to many birthdays. He was pictured with 1st Lady Rosalyn Carter for his work as a political activist. Hitler brought Germany out of a depression, rebuilt the military, built the auto-bahn, designed the shape of the vw bug, oh fucking come on lol, I could do this for any fucked up human being I want to hero worship. Gohan, in light of the 'support card thingy for the Kids with Cancer thingies' I would like a poster, so I can start my cultish creepy shrine to you in my closet, kkty. I hope this thread continues, its great to read realtime hero defense, so less boring than the old acolades for now dead dictators. Can a cult follower actually address the pj party fact? I think you are right Ateh.
