  1. Sure I've doubted people. But I don't say it publicly unless I have proof and it's tied to a job I'm doing, namely moderating in EL.

I question your motive in coming back and spamming all over forums with your opinions and suggestions, at least one of which already exists (which a little more reading and a little less talking would have let you discover).

    *shrugs* It works both ways.

And you are free to question my motives. It doesn't make you a bad person, doesn't make me one either. Though, I wonder what motive I could possibly have for coming back to a game I always enjoyed and investing myself in it.. hmm.. seems dark and mysterious.. (note the sarcasm) but this is not the place for this discussion.

  2. This is not labeled as an "Optional Task" though. It's labeled as a "Tutorial". Newer players will view it as a good idea, if not required.

You can't really use yourself as a good example of making an educated decision on whether or not to do this "Tutorial". You are not a newbie player. You have the advantage of hindsight to base your decision on.

Why does the original poster have to defend himself to you?

I'm all for making it more clear that it is optional. My only issue is if it is really all that bad for newbs to take a vegetal nexus or not.

The original poster doesn't have to defend himself. I was just making a point. Surely you have doubted peoples intentions before? I have no issue with the original poster, no beef, no grudge, nothing. I simply doubt his motives. I don't think it's bad or wrong for me to do that.

  3. You do have to pay rl $ to remove it if you don't like it, or work awfully hard and long to earn it within the game.

I am thinking along the lines of what some other people wrote in this thread. As a newb, it is not a big deal to do 1 reset early on. Many do this. An older player will only 'have' to pay money or work awfully hard and long to earn it in game if they chose to do this 'optional' task. Since it is optional, and you will get the achievement for the tutorial without doing this, then no one is being forced to get a vegetal nexus. Therefore no one 'has' to do anything about it, such as paying to get it removed or working hard to remove it. My comment about paying RL $$ is simply an (in my opinion) easy way of doing this optional mission without killing yourself in game to get a OA for a pp, then getting a nexus removal.

That said, the original poster has a valid point. Why do you assume, and publicly so, he's being disingenuous?

As long as you can get the achievement for the tutorial without having to do these 'optional' tasks. I don't think this is a big deal. Whether the OP has a valid point or not, I just disagree on this point. I have 2 chars. On one I decided to do the quest, on the other i have not done either of the new tutorials, nor will I ever as far as i am concerned. I have that choice, and so does everyone else.

As far as the OP being disingenuous, I just get that feeling from the post. If he want's to defend his intentions he can, I just doubt them. That is all.

  4. I personally don't think rl $ should be required for playing or factored into deciding what are good/bad decisions for newbies.

And if a newbie is advised to do something by a tutorial, most likely he/she will do it.

Maybe a message that this is hard to undo later and it is not necessary (ie you can make some basic potions without it).

After making basic potions to level 20, I am thrilled I have wasted no pp's on vegetal. I can't stand potion making and would not have known that early on.

My post was holding to the thought of this as an optional tutorial task. So no one 'has' to pay RL $$ for it.

Also, I honestly think that the main motivation behind the OP is not a concern for new players. I feel like the OP just wants to do the quest but doesn't want to do what it takes to get a vegetal nexus. There may be some posts in this thread where they really think it is too much for a newb.. I just doubt the motives of the OP.

So, just to clarify, my comment was in light of it being an optional task, and mostly directed at older players. I don't expect new players to invest money that quickly for something they don't even understand.

  5. I'm not sure if this is possible or if I'm just retarded or whatever. I think it would be nice if we could "like" and "dislike" posts on the forum? I know we can "like" photos in the photo albums.

The reason I ask is this: Many, many times i find myself in agreement or disagreement with a post, but don't care enough to create a reply, or possibly don't want to get into some discussion, but would like my feelings to be known. I think "liking" or "disliking" posts would be great. or simply +1 -1 on the posts.

Like i said. I don't know if this is possible. I just think it would be nice.

  6. I would like to be able to know event statistics for weapons and armor and such. An example would be, how many times my MoL heals me. Or how many times I have mana depleted someone, or how many times i have been mana burned. Things of that nature. I was training today and really wanted to know how many times my MoL had healed me.. I think it would be a good addition to the event counters.

  7. You can already equip/unequip something my double clicking it, is that enough?

That is good and all. I'm not saying the current method is bad. I am simply suggesting a faster way. Like when I am mixing FE for instance. I go to the mix window and i simply scroll down using my mouse wheel as i move my mouse over the ingredients. Thus putting 1 of each in the mix window in 1 fluid motion. I just wish i could unequip/equip items in the same fashion. To unequip simply scroll down as i move my mouse over the equiped items. and vice versa for equipping.

I understand the auto item swap being unreasonable because of your explanation. I didn't know if that was possible or not.

  8. What if you could equip and unequip armor by using your mouse wheel. Kind of like when using the mixing window. To equip armor hover over it and roll your mouse wheel up. To unequip, hover over it and roll mouse wheel down. Don't know if this would be a big deal or not, but I would like it.

    #EDIT

This would apply for medallions, clothing, cloaks. anything equippable. It would also be nice if lets say -- You have nmt cape on, and want to switch to unbreakable cape. Just roll up on the unbreakable cape and it auto switches with the nmt cape. (as long as item swap is enabled)

  9. I have not played in several years. It used to be that when you wanted to go to the test server you just changed your el.ini file to go to server 2001.. i went to my .ini file and it was already set to server 2001.. so i looked in the EL file and found the EL_test.exe or whatever.

When I click the el test client i get this pop up warning every time.

"The procedure entry point libiconv could not be located in the dynamic link library libiconv-2.dll."

I have no idea what that means.. guess i'm missing that file, but don't know for sure, or how to get it.

  10. There are so many different Ideas floating around in this thread. I really think we should keep it simple and just what the OP was asking for. I participated in an invance today, and I had the same issue. I found myself having to watch my health bar on the bottom of the screen just to know what my health is. I couldn't watch the fight, and sometimes I would look up and I would just be standing there while people fought around me because I had killed whatever I was fighting

The Health/Mana Bar at the top of the screen, Or the option to turn other players health bars off (keeping yours and the monster you are currently fighting on) would make things a ton easier for us during invances, instances, and invasions.

  11. Other games lack the community of EL. I played games like World of Warcraft and Lord of the Rings Online, but I always felt like i was playing alone with a bunch of strangers. Coming back to EL and seeing names of people i played with years ago made me feel like home. Having a guild full of people that show interest in each other and a genuine desire to help each other. It is something that lacks in other games.

  12. So, I recently started back playing EL again, after being gone for about 3 years. And I have just been awefully impressed with all the advances this game has made not only in the past 3 years, but since I first started. The game has developed nicely and is a much better experience now than it used to be (and it wasn't bad when I started). I have played several other games in the years I spent away from EL, and I can say that Radu, Roja, and others who help develop this game really care about making a quality game. Several games are just out to make money period, and they sometimes sacrifice quality for $$$. Some people may say Radu is an ebul brick hoarding overlord, but he intentionally has not done several things that could be bringing in more $$$ for himself. He has not sacrificed the quality of this game.

So, being back and thinking of old EL days where there was no such thing as "mix all", and deer were the mass murderers of IP. When new players just had to figure the game out on their own and hope someone would help them figure it all out (and many people helped me along the way). I guess I am just saying I appreciate all that the developers and mods are doing in this game, and for their dedication. :)

Also, this last month or so that I have been back has been 100% more enjoyable and fun thanks to my awesome CEL guildmates. Honestly the best guild out there.

So, like i said, I just wanted to show some appreciation. (since it is Thanksgiving holidays and all).

  13. I dont play as much anymore and will give my bots to some one who is legit in wanting to run them.

how will i know if your legit? i wont. but ill make a judgment call.

bot names are Xanadu and Euphrates.

  14. if ND KF is not removed i dont believe the arena's would be used. (DPA being no drop now as an example).

At the very least, we could start with making NCa no-drops, and if it's not being used, then we could consider what you're saying... but i tell ya now, KF doesn't need to be made drops for a ND arena to be used. I'm willing to bet significant RL$ on it :pickaxe:

i see no problem in this. just make nca nd and change kf IF its needed.

    i'd like that.
