Piper, I did set the windows firewall to allow port 2000, game.eternal-lands.com and still wasnt working. So when my husband came home he said that the windows firewall is probably having conflicts with other programs (I cant say more, cause I dont know more) and that I should never put that firewall up again, but to install another one. I did so, I installed zonealarm the free version now, removed all pieces of the trial I used before and shutdown the windows firewall and now its working fine again. I hope it will help Kit and Tiesto as well.

ok did everything theryndan and everyone else said, so thanks for the fixes and for the patience. I still couldnt get in, even when I added the game and port to my windows firewall to allow it. When my husband got home he said to turn all firewalls completely off, and after that I could log in, but I obviously cant hold this situation, so I have to figure out tomorrow how to get in with the firewall up and running. gives the same answer, roughly : 4 packages sent, 4 received, 0% loss btw, the one that started this post had the same error log and message on his login sreen, so that is why I posted here instead of a new thread

Now why cant I change the el.ini file in c: ? cause now I have one in users saying another path then the one in the programs files ? can't I just delete one and copy the other ?

Apparantly it seems I'm changing the wrong el.ini file I changed the one in my users file : main while there is still an el.ini file in c:\program files\eternal lands (thanks oromis). There it still gives the wrong data-dir path, BUT it doesnt allow me to change it.

I had a look at it and I'm not comfortable installing stuff I dont understand much off, anyway, I tried to log to pk server, which is port 2001 and it didnt work as well, I got the same problems.

Nope, it seems my trial of zone-alarm had ended yesterday and windows firewall was still disabled, so my pc was unprotected (stupid me). So now I put up windows firewall again, and I will add port 2000 if you give me the name and protocol I have to enter, but I doubt it will be the issue since my pc was unprotected before. Edit : virus scanner is AVG 8.00

I get the same. Till a few weeks ago I could log into the game fine. Today I wanted to return after a break and I couldnt get into the game anymore. I completely uninstalled and downloaded it again. Installed the game and got the same log error as stated above.
