  1. SirJuan the man that never returns your gear

Well, you could say inflation covered that, I suppose. Perhaps I could have been greedy and asked for more, but it is not really my style.
  2. SirJuan the man that never returns your gear

I just got paid back. Full steel plate with a RDHoLaM as a substitute for the steel helm. This is quite acceptable. Repaid in full.
  3. Gold coins

The fastest way to make gc? Teamwork. Try getting a friend to do a harvest event with you and split the proceeds. If your friend has a higher emu capacity, have that person haul the stuff to storage. Reset your counters before you start so you know how much you harvested. Have your buddy do the same. Sell the proceed or mix it into something to sell. The higher the emu capacity that your friend has, the higher the efficiency of the harvest event. Another option....harvest silver or iron and sell it to a bot a few steps away. lol Of course, you will make the bot owner rich too. Oh! You could mix bars in DP CC and sell them to Alch_Store! That is my bot!
  4. Android client

When we get an Android app for EL, we should probably add the Qcode image to the EL download page. Maybe we could add the EL day fetching app on there too if the developer of that app does not mind.
  5. Fix PM mechanism

I wonder if the spanish (or those with similar language bases) use a normal exclamation mark instead of an upside down one in EL. If so, "/!name" would be better than "!name". Either way, I think "/name," is better than either one because it is natural typed english else than the starting "/". http://spanish.about.com/od/writtenspanish/a/punctuation.htm "¡principio y fin de exclamación o admiración!"
  6. Bringing Gossip back

It seems a number of us agree. Both bots have brought alot to the game. I thank their makers for their contribution. Gossip and Mercator are great bots when working correctly. Gossip started having issues where she would not reply or would be down and now Mercator is having minor issues of his own. I wish their makers luck finding the reason for this and correcting it. I wonder if it had to do with the database or the disk drive not being periodically maintained or if it might have been something to do with a memory leak in a program. If the bots had to "sleep" for something like an hour or so a week for maintenance, I think most would agree that such a thing would be acceptable (and perhaps amusing) as long as the bot functioned normally when it was not. Can you imagine pm'ing a bot and getting "ZZzzzzzzzzzZZZZzzzz" as a reply? hahaha
  7. Fix PM mechanism

A problem that people have asked for a fix for since 2005 or so..... Too bad I can't locate the last thread that I suggested a fix for this in. I think I suggested something like /name, message to stop autocompletion. Using * and ? in names for more complete control could be useful to. Turning it off could be useful too. A client request to the server could be useful to. We could even have a text box on the side of the client that could hold a possible set of names or words that you could click on. We just need SOME fix. A small improvement is still an improvement. It would be nice if this problem does not have to wait another 5 years to be fixed.
  8. Bringing Gossip back

Hmmm....if Gossip is back online and does not act like she drank too much wine then we will have 2 bots that do that stuff. Mercator is the other bot. Some redundancy is nice in some services, so that might work out. Maybe Mercator and Gossip can even go out on dates sometime since they have a common interest. lol
  9. I agree. It would be nice if you could turn on/off stats privacy and buddy privacy differently. I never really understood the reason why having privacy enabled resulted in not being able to get new buddies. Any clues? Anyone else think that perhaps the buddy privacy needs to go away or get redesigned?
  10. Need advice please

That is a good way. Of course, Aislinn there usually deals with the multi-player accused, I believe. I used to play with my wife when we were still together. We did #help_me and got mods to help us with proof of individuality. We got warned to not trade unevenly. We got warned not to control each other's character under any circumstance. If we did control the same character, it would be a "shared character" which would make each character we own being alts of eachother which would make trading between them be multi-play. I always advise people to do "#help_me I need proof of individuality", explain the circumstances and try not to do uneven trades or control each other's characters. I have heard of many players being caught for multi-play and even some family members and friends getting in trouble at least for a little bit because of rule 5. It was a very good idea for you to post and ask questions. I hope all turns out well for you and your daughter. By the way, you said you understand rule 5. That does not mean your daughter does. Good luck trying the rules (especially that one) to her.
  11. It seems most people reading this have overlooked what I changed to bold text. The idea does seem logical. As others have pointed out, it might ruin some maps if the critters run onto a map with a usually weaker set of critters. Of course, Haidir quests and other "kill this" quests might be a little more difficult if your critter ran onto another map. Most likely, if a critter from a map with weaker critters wanders onto a map with stronger critters, the guards would not pay any attention to it...unless they decide to kill and eat it. A bunch of the boats are connected by boat. Only some are connected by land. PV and Ida could probably be lax on their shared border and things could even get out of the cave in NW PL. They have the same level of monsters anyways. PV and Irsis could probably swap critters too. There is a gate on the eastern side of Irsis, so critters probably could not travel between there and EVTR.
  12. Making it a day of lighter ingredients might solve that. On day of lighter ingredients, those stocking up on ingredients, mixing on site, mixing on the run, etc would be able to haul more of whatever ingreds. Fighters would probably find it more useful to haul finished goods unless they are training their mixing skills between critters. A variation of this would be a day of lighter ore where every ore (and only ore) weighs half emu. I am not sure, but it might be easier to program into the server.
  13. It would be nice if the server would send you a message when it detects another character being played from your IP address. This notice could go into specifics about rules or bring up rule 5 (which should probably have its wording revised). This may help avoid banning some people who are ignorant of the multi-play rules or not even aware that they are on the same IP as someone else. People at the same college, highschool, internet cafe, etc could use this warning. It may also be useful if the game reported the internal IP address of the client to the game. This would help determine if they are separate computers or the same computer. That would help provide a count of internal IP addresses that characters are playing from for an IP address that is suspected of multi-play. Edit: corrected the rule number
  14. Notification of other players on the same IP

It would really not work that way, because it's a trivial task to compile the client yourself and send some forged IP address... Client code can easy be hacked on so reading MAC address or 'internal IPs' isn't reliable. You would need to instead count how many connections are coming from the external IP address to the server. As I mentioned to groomsh, not everyone has the brains for such things. At any rate, when you talk to anyone, you have to decide if your believe what they say or not. It is the same with computers. You can get the information and decide later if you believe it or not.
  15. Notification of other players on the same IP

Aislinn, ignoring knowledge of rule 5 and a clear understanding of it, do you think that implementation of this would help reduce your workload or not?
  16. Notification of other players on the same IP

    1. Rule 5 has no mention of an IP addresses or other people on a network that I can see. It does not mention other people and seems to talk about a single person. Multiple people playing from an IP may not be an intention of cheating, but it is considered as such by mods. 2. Sarcasm is not necessary. I am merely trying to suggest a way to clean up a bit of confusion, reduce the workload of game moderators and increase the actual player base (not necessarily character base) 3. It is easy to tell about these false positives. You get to read many cases of them on the forums every few months.
  17. Notification of other players on the same IP

I am sure there are ways to make it not spammy at all. It may be trivial to some to compile the client, but some of the people that are busted for multi-play are not exactly all that smart about computers. A moderator could always look at the information with the possibility of a custom compiled client in the back of their mind. My main point of this is to help warn people about what the game would consider multi-play before they get accused of it, have their character locked without being talked to about it and leave the game because they got locked in their first month or so of trying out the game. In other words, to cut down on the amount of false positives when the mods are looking for multi-players. If the people can be warned, they can talk to moderators about it and figure out what the mods expect of them.
  18. invances, invasions and special days

I imagine complaints would still be made even if there was a page on the EL website that logged each invance request, each invance start/end time, each invasion start/end time and who was involved. Such a thing could be a bit of a conversation piece and flesh out the game a little bit though. I am also sure that such a page on the website might take a little bit of coding to set up. When it comes to invasions and invances, I have noticed a number in the last month or two for me at GMT-6 (US Central) between 7pm and midnight. The invasions have slown down a little bit, but I have heard a few invances were going on. Perhaps the invances are offsetting the invasions. I have not noticed what skill level the invances were. I imagine that the 120+ bracket would be hard to fill though. A pretty graph with number of characters per 10 level (a+d)/2 block would probably help Radu monitor the current state of the game and invance/invasion/instance chances at any particular time, but setting it up would also require a bit of coding. If people were wondering, I process data for a living. That is why I come up with ways to analyse it.
  19. Bigger Channel Limit

If he had more channels then we could even afford to take the rants out of channel 6 and put them in channel 20 or some other channel and the mods could keep people talking about the correct things when they want to enforce topics. We could even have a special "Radu's rants" channel.
  20. Why do ants kill snakes?

Maybe the snakes were swallowing their smaller members whole?
  21. EL Network Protocol Documentation

Thanks much for the link, Alberich.
  22. EL Network Protocol Documentation

Let it be known that I looked for the wiki.beplacid.net page today and it no longer exists. It is now one of those stupid sites with bullcrap links on them. Does anyone else have a valid list of info on the protocol?
  23. Bigger Channel Limit

I wonder if Radu would complain about the extra bandwidth required. Of course, if people find it spammy, they would probably leave one channel and then require less bandwidth. There is still a problem of afkers taking up extra bandwidth when the conversations pick up on their channels. Eh. Just something I was thinking might affect the decision. Of course, it would have to do with both a client and server update too, most likely.
  24. Korrode's Combat Guides

SunriseCoder, I can't say I agree with Korrode about everything. We have argued about a number of things. Arguing with him in game can be kind of fun for me, in fact. I will say one thing for Korrode. He does know alot about combat. I think most of his advice is meant for people who's main goal is to be a strong fighter. As for me, that is not my main concern, but raising my A/D has made it so I can mix in more places....and laugh as a fluffy and cyclops ignore me. Phys/Coord are focussed on by fighters because of efficiency. Less pickpoints to get to the top monsters. I don't know what your priorities are in the game. You might be a fighter that wants to power level till you can kill any monster or you might have other interests. You might be like me. I dunno. For me though (remember that fighting is not my main concern), the will attribute is also important. More precisely, the will attribute is the 3rd most important attribute. I use 20's will, 30's phys, 40's coord. I will raise will more after coord is maxed. By the way, I train on feros and fluffy and my stats are open to the public.

Anyone know how much AP it is?
