    I think we don't have the same meaning of "outlaw". For me, outlaws are a part of the game. It's a game aspect! It's not pejorative!!! How can I say that more clearly? I agree with people saying that they have the rights to attack people in a PK map because it's a game design. Did I say the contrary? I'm just saying that they are ways to do it and depending on that, it'll give a good or a bad image of you, nothing more...

    Well I'll not continue to debate anymore about the "outlaw" title because I think it's useless... However, I just want to add something. For me the "outlaw" term here is not pejorative because it's a game (yeah I agree on that Korrode ) and we just all play a role (good or bad) in this synthetic world. And as far as I know, killing people outside of a war context is a bad thing so don't be offended if someone is calling you an outlaw because you killed him without any reason in a PK map. You decided to do it so just assume it! And I think there are also other ways to PK without being declared as an outlaw. For example, people who fight outlaws and kill them are not outlaws themselves AFAIK. EDIT: typos

    Here is where the problem lies. The term "outlaw" describes a person that is violating the law. Player killing on player killing map is a desirable behavior, this is what these maps have been created for. What he said. Cruella (and many other people), I think you are confusing game rules and community rules. I'll make a little comparison with real life. Technically, in RL, guns are made to kill other people. So technically, you can buy a gun and go kill your neighbor. But there are laws that have been decided by the society and that forbid murders. Well, in the game, it's exactly the same thing. You can kill someone in a PK map, nothing prevents you for doing so. But if you do so, you become an outlaw, that's all. In short terms: Game rules/possibilities = RL physics laws Community rules = RL society laws (note here that these laws can be different between countries and like kailo pointed out, it's the same here but with guilds)

    I think that 2 things have to be defined here. First it's the meaning of the term outlaw and for me the definition is something like: if you do any harm to someone without his approval, then you're an outlaw. So if you attack someone in a PK map without any reason, then consider yourself as an outlaw. The second thing that should be defined is what should be posted in the outlaw forum. I agree that it's quite ridiculous to whine or just to warn people of some guy that killed you while you were crossing a PK map. Well, if you go in a PK map, you have a lot of chances to be attacked so live with it. Now there are some exceptions that should interest other people like for example the pr0 outlaws that have some stalking techniques to kill people when they just want to PvP. Or bad PvP partners, etc...

    More drops will also slow down the display. For the lightning, there's actually a delay that depends on the distance between your char and the lightning. I'm already using a speed that is way under the real sound speed but I can reduce it again a bit.

    You just need to edit your ~/.elc/main/el.ini file and change the data_dir variable to the directory where you have the original game installed and it should work.

    Hmmm... Disabling the frame buffer has the same effect than turning the water shaders to 0 so it's quite normal that it works. However, I tried to turn the frame buffer off while the client was running and I had the same black water. I'm not an expert in frame buffers and I didn't write this part of the code but there's maybe a conflict between the frame buffer used for reflections and the one used for shadows. So when you enable the shadows, the reflections are screwed up. I'll try to investigate on that and see if it can be detected but for now, don't use water shaders and shadows at the same time. BTW, do you have any OpenGL errors in your error log? One more thing, Molime and you seem to have a similar video card so it's maybe a problem related to these cards or their drivers. If you could test EL on linux on the same machine and see the result, it would be great.

    I think it's always the same cluster bug. Like Vegar already said, you can have a go for the CVS version, it should fix it.

    @RubenVincent: please post the content of your error_log.txt file the next time it happens. @Rehdon: you need the data that is contained in the exe given by Entropy. You can use wine to decompress it. If you use a CVS version that is less than 1 day old, you'll also need another archive or you'll have a little problem with rainy skies so don't report bug about that please. @Everybody: don't report bugs about the purple message on pickaxes breaks anymore, I think we are enough aware about it.

    Yes, I'll try to fix that. For nor, a way to fix it is to use the new option I've put in the sky tab to update the sky every frames.

    Do you have this everywhere? interiors/exteriors? Can you take a screenshot please? @RubenVincent: same thing, do you have this strange thing wherever you go then or only on certain places? Can you try to play with options when you have that to see if an option is producing it?

    Nothing in particular but I would be interested to know the results in performance loss when playing with all the options. The number of drops can be reduced by reducing the percentage of particles btw. However, all the local weather stuff is not sent by the server yet so you'll not be able to see it unless you compile with the debug feature and set areas by hand.

    I've rewritten the whole NEW_WEATHER code to make it compatible with the sky and to add some nice features. The new features are the following: - changed the rain in order it's displayed with lines like the old one but with a better render - added sprites support (for snow and such things) - handling weather areas: you can define different weather areas on a same map. For the moment, this can be tested by compiling the client in debug mode and pressing ctrl+shift+home to set a rain area above your position and ctrl+shift+end to set a snow area. - added 2 options in the sky&cam tab: one is to force the sky to update every frame and the other is to show distant weather areas on the sky - added thunder display support (in debug mode: press ctrl+shift+t to add a random lightning) - added a weather.xml file to configure the whole thing The new weather requires some new data that I've put here for the moment: http://schmurk.110mb.com/el/files/new_weather_data.zip So if anybody wants to test it and report me bugs, I'll be glad to hear about them.

    @Ozmondius: the fine rotation is still present and works fine for me. Maybe you should change you rotation speeds in the options? @Tvinn: the camera rotation speed is the same everywhere and you can do a simple test to see it. Put your view towards the north, click on your char with middle button, drag your mouse to the border of your window and look at your new direction. Now do that on insides and outsides and you'll see that there are no differences.

    Are you compiling your own client? If so, don't use NEW_WEATHER for the moment, it's not finished yet...
  18. Usual "i accept crash)

    1- try to download the latest drivers for your video card on the ati/amd website and install them. 2- if you still crash, at the logging screen, open the options window by pressing ctrl+o. If you can't see the window, press alt+w to bring the window on top. Then go in the Details tab and enable 'poor man'. Then try to log again and see if it works. 3- if you still crash, before the logging screen you have some text that is displayed and almost at the end (just before connecting to the server) you have the location where your settings are saved. In the directory that is top of this location, you have a file that is called error_log.txt. Copy/paste its content here. Do not do the steps 2 & 3 unless you haven't done the step 1.

    You can also disable vertex programs in the options so you can try to see if it helps.

    What do you see exactly at the screen? Do you see objects/textures/chars? Please also post the content of your error_log.txt file.

    First try the no cluster version from the test #2 because we are not 100% sure that all the issues have been resolved in the test client #3. Then if it doesn't help, try to disable all the options before logging (enable poor man or disable reflections, shadows, fog and all the sky elements in the sky&cam tab) and see if you still crash. If you don't crash anymore try to enable the options one after the other until it crashes and tell us your results...

    The sky test 2 is an auto extractable program that will put all the files where you tell him to put them so just choose the location of your EL directory.

    Ok it seems that you have a skybox directory but you don't have the good one and you also miss the texture of the moon. I've just checked the exe given at the beginning of the sky test 2 and it contains all the data you need. So uncompress it in your EL directory and it should resolve at least some of your problems.

    For those who don't see the sky elements (clouds/sun/moons/stars), can you try to switch some other options in the client because I really don't understand why it doesn't work for you. Try to put in poor man to disable all reflections/fog/shadows and such and try also to disable vertex buffer objects and compiled vertex arrays to see if it changes anything... thx.
