If you've synced in the past few months, you have it . . .

Where is teh ebuild? Would be damn handy If you're using Gentoo, it's games-rpg/eternal-lands
-
The playlists are correct for the new client.
-
I was planning on making an installer based on the Loki one, but I forgot about it when I started working on the ebuild Maybe I'll come back to it.
-
Ok, I want to get feedback from the other devs before it goes live.
-
I copied over the last character backup to the test server, so you shoud have your normal levels there now.
-
Just wondering. In case, you know . . . we were going to put this in . . . or something. Just hypothetically, of course . . .
-
Please try out harvesting on the test server, port 2001.
-
Please post reasonable suggestions for the harvesting formula. Only post your formula, and a short description or explanation. Any other posts will be deleted. "no delay" is not an acceptable formula. After a while, I will make a new poll with these formulas.
-
Meh, nevermind. I'm just going to tweak the test server and ask for feedback.
-
It's really a trivial amount of code for either adjusting the delay or the failure. And like I already said, they players can't perceive a difference between a failed harvest and a longer delay between harvests. What does make a difference is that the harvesting code gets processed more for no good reason if someone is failing a lot. That's why I'm saying we just rewrite the failure formula so that it adds a delay instead, and we're getting closer to normal.
-
How would it make leveling up useless? I would just be including the delay that the failure would cause and the regular delay into the same formula.
-
Actually, I'm thinking the other way around. Remove failure entirely, and have only the delay. At the moment, there's no player perceived difference anyway. The new delay formula then would need to be based on the player's harvest level and a random factor, to make it act like the failure rate did before.
-
That was actually how I was going to do it originally, but then level/4 got a lot more votes...

Direct useful suggestions on harvesting here: http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=9789

Ok, we're considering 2 new formulas that will increase the speed of harvesting more. One with a flat increase, and one that takes your harvesting level into account. Also, we will probably increase the exp given for the items that now take a long time to make. Again, please be patient! The game isn't ruined just because harvesting is a little slow for a few days while we work out a better formula that will make everyone happy.

1. There was a poll at the top of this forum for several days. 2. All future updates are tested on the test server. Port 2001.

Do you even know the purpose of the license? Do you know anything about copyright law, or are you just trying to be as obnoxious as possible? Let me explain: Ent owns Eternal Lands. Ent is the only person who can legally distribute the client or any of the data that comes with it. The only other way you can distribute it is if Ent gives you permission. The open source license for the client provides a way for people to distribute the client, or modified versions of it without getting permission from Ent, if they follow the terms of the license. Ent can still grant permission to people to distribute EL, or do anything else with it, since he owns it. (For example, if he were to sell the engine to a game company, or the arrangement he has with the French people who run the server) I have permission from Ent to work on the client and the server, to modify it, to distribute it, etc, etc. Saying that I don't have permission to do so is comperable to saying that Ent doesn't own his own game. In summary, STFU. If you still have a problem with it, you can take it straight to Ent.

I've had a poll up for what people thought was acceptable. Reccommended level / 4 won ("Nothing" was not really an acceptable option). We are definitely open to the idea of tuning the speed, so stop saying that the game is ruined. Anybody want to make a better formula suggestion?

Assuming you consider those "anime" and not just cartoons.

I would suspect this is an SDL bug, like how the ALT key sometimes acts stuck when you use ALT+ENTER to toggle fullscreen. Not much I can do about it besides try to fix SDL.

After . . . what? You made yourself look like an idiot? For the record, look on the bottom of the official download page. You'll notice that the last two links (FreeBSD bin and static linux bin) are links to my site. Selberhad, you can read in the map data from the client, you just can't redistribute it. And you should probably throw in an EL copyright notice for good measure.
