Erm, not in the general case; like Aislinn, Ive been using both for a long time now.

Where it might break is when you use a global filter to alter a text which is also used

    as an alert trigger.

And, having the option to change the colours in the client would be nice.

Then again, the configuration dialog is already over-charged, so I'm not sure

adding a whole slew of colour settings there is ideal.

Perhaps use an external file to be edited by hand (it's how user menus are defined...).

Do bear in mind  the client already has built in popup to change normal channels and @guild by right clicking on the channel tab. GMs appear as another tab - so would it be just a case of adding the dialog box to that tab?

  2. Add a #relog command - which simply returns you to the login screen - enabling you to switch chars without closing the client

Many times I find myself closing the client down - and then reopening but logging in as a different character, be it to do change for dailies, fnd an item in one storage, or buy stuff and NPC.

  3. I know this has been discussed before - but would be great if #GM & #BC were easier to distinguish in the client.

(I did once announce an invasion with #GM not #BC - and wondered why people complained when I invaded)

I know that standard channel colours can be changed in the client and also @guild (with its large channel number), could the same functionality be added to #GM, #SERVER, #MOD etc?

Or does #GM have a secret channel number - which you can manually add to the channel_colors json file?

(I know global filters can change part of the message - but its not as clean)

  4. Good old Ben - the only one who understands the machinations of a mac :)

*IF* this is the same as a normal PC - you should be ok to move back chat logs (if you want), counters, spells menus, key definitions etc.

Just avoid the main config files.

Have a look at el.ini  - but I would not recommend copying back.

Then setup your new config to have the features you want - avoid messing with graphics...  also check that file on your other mac. (ie sitlock etc)

My guess is you / EL changed something in the config file that caused a mac to fail to load.... but I am a total novice in the world of macs.

  5. The way I read this is you bought a char, the char was already banned.

Not an issue with the EL mods.  That char was banned for a very good reason - as you well know.

Rather than have a pop at EL - have a pop at the person who sold you a character knowing it was banned....

  6. Love what you have done with the quotes on here.... rest assure you have mis quoted me!

Jumping down my throat just annoys everyone.

If you have a cronstructive solution, then (by all means) recomend it, don't get rude &/or nasty about it!!!

Other than myself, out of three people responding to this issue, there seems to be only 1 that has tried to be constructive

As for a 'cronstructive(sic) solution', let me repeat :

YOU need to work out what at YOUR end is blocking connection on port 2000, or find a way of connecting via a proxy / vpn using a different port.  There is nothing we can do!

p.s. if 3 people tell you the same thing, perhaps start to believe them!

I am logging in from home, on my own (Dsl) network, which I changed from the public 192.168.x.x To a completely pivate address. From that point, using a ddress which is private, I have been able to play el since until the 16th, when the client (oooops, according to them, the server) closed on it's own & wouldn't connect to the actual server. I even removed it completely from my system, downloaded it again, reinstalled & it continued to not connect.

Now, the solution seems to be, if I want to play El, I have to  open the command prompt, go to the directory then open "El.exe test" in-order to play

OMG do you not read the posts here?

Removing and reinstalling has been utterly pointless.

Something has changed at your end to stop you connecting to the server on port 2000.

Nothing at all has changed on the server, and guess what we can all connect perfectly happily on port 2000.

So YOU need to work out what at YOUR end is blocking connection on port 2000, or find a way of connecting via a proxy / vpn using a different port.  There is nothing we can do!

If you wish to mess about on the test server... then by all means use that method, however remeber it is exactly that - a test server - so not really used.

  8. Yesterday on day of the dead - when a Japita respawned - the font used for char / mob names changed.

This was also noticed by another player by me and happened twice - so is repeatable in these specific circumstances.

This could be related to the fact that when it respawns - the 10000 health gain is displayed in a huge font.  Have noticed this also for Nasparliu on day of the dead.

'Name' font is Calibri Bold size 1.20 (in settings)

Changed font on the left, normal font after relog on the right.

  9. Absolutely 100% agree in 2022 to have a website that is not https is ridiculous.  Pretty much any decent hosting service will provide for free. Sadly Radu does not seem to care about the website... even the shop page is way out of date and a total mess.  As for the game- again it should encrypted - and Learner proved that it is possible.  The other advantage to this is that it gets rid of the insane solution that EL still uses port 2000 - a port that is often blocked by ISPs - when surely a change to pretty much any other port would be trivial.

That being said - I feel that you are being paranoid.  So what if transmissions to EL website are unencrypted... hardy state secrets.  Simply use a throwaway password for the site and you are fine.  Never click through to the shop if you purchase things - simply go in from paypal and you will be fine.

As for the in game password - remember it is exactly that a game.  You say that you are concerned about your network admins / ISP accessing... if so then you may well have bigger problems than just a game.

I'm among the players who usually log off on peace day, why I voted "Exempt some maps".

Having said that, I see both Aislinn's and revi's point and agree with them  - so what about a "delayed" removal with a blue spam warning like this:

This day will be removed in 30 minutes.    (or make it 60 minutes, so anyone who wants to do exploring, do quests, run hydro etc. can do it in peace)

This day will be removed in 10 minutes.

This day will be removed in 1 minute.

Not sure how tricky this would be to implement, but as a fighter, I'd rather wait 1 hour than 6 hours...

I almost suggested making the day removable only in the first X minutes.....similar idea

  11. Removable with stone - bad idea as Revi has said.

Exempt instance / invance - no point only a few can take advantage as only 2 slots per range

Only during day?  Interesting - but still fcuks game for 3 hours

Does peace day have a purpose?  It's not peace - bombs work - so exploring is not without risk still, hydro pointless - mm is cheap as a perk these days so exploring not too tough

Limit to certain maps - chaos and requires a load of work Radu wont do.
