    would of been perfect imo, and i agree with korrode dont think gc drop decrease on monsters would be necesary (sp), fighters could PK with out spending thousands of K's in armors, get 'decent' Gc drops, pay for what crafters, manuers, engers etc ask cause they can actually make Gc and PK and maybe have some left over instead of PK for 1 hour and have to 'farm' yetis/chims/silver/iron for 6 hours to PK for that 1 hour of PK ^^

     

    LOL if things went back to that the game would have a lot more players... I bet everyone in that screen shot quit for the same reason. This game is not what it was in the good ole days.

    I have been playing since 2004 or 2005..

     

    1. I left 2 times for about a year at a time and came back.

    2. I spend more money than most players when I do play and my character is #12 attack with a buttload of bought pickponits to aid and i have GC coming outt of my ass. basically I mean - I am at no disadvantage in playing. My Alchemy is 90, manu is very high too.

     

    I quit a 2nd time last November and just came back... and I do notice A LOT of population is gone since then...

     

    I wont say my thoughts on why players are leaving but....

     

    What I will say is People are not leaving this game because of a disadvantage in catching up to the higher levels... This is proven as easy as looking at the top 10 Attack who were hooked 2 years ago on this game like a junky on crackrock. THEY ALL QUIT and sold their characters! LOL its all new owners! we never had a sell off like that before. So umm.. something happened that severely pissed off the fighters.

     

    fighters might be just 1 small part of the game but when all the top ones (as well as many lower ones) leave u lose a nice chunk of People who play a lot, Spend more gc than the average person, and add to the community and economy and you have less people as friends and people to chat with.

Lucy, Toom, kod and others deciding to post attempts at parody, some very nice work there which didn't fail to make me laugh, thanks guys! :icon4: My personal favorite is Lucy with his "mad-cow-rant" and the contradiction in the follow up, next on my list is Toom with his oldschool ad hominem remarks spiced up with subtle hints in regards to recent school studies finds on reading comprehension as well as some general running of his mouth. Third comes kod in the "ficus" category. Thanks :).

     

    On topic, while I still think a soft cap at 150 is too high and I would have no problem with a cap or soft cap on all skills at 130 (or whatever level, I guess a hard cap might be easier to implement on all than just on specific skills), Entropy has already settled the matter and decided to try something new to get more PK activity as well as indicated that he might try something related to the idea of this thread in the future; both of which I find laudable.

     

    1. My post which picked apart your post was intelligently written with points that made sense and not a "mad-cow-rant".

     

    2. Your intentions in this thread were purely to screw people and not for the better of the community.

     

    3. You made an ass of yourself and have tarnished your reputation amongst the "few of us fighters," many of which probably thought highly of such an old player such as yourself.

     

    4. The quoted post u just made has both the intelligence and the maturity of a little kid who just got caught with his pants down trying to save face. The people who responded to your post had valid points which most people agree with or you would not have looked so bad by the creation of this thread. You should be apologizing for the bad idea to post and NOT citing us and trying to insult our intelligence.

    Why don't you do the EL community a favor and stop thinking so loudly!


  4. As has been mentioned already, the PK server has an a/d cap at 100. If people want to see how (or IF) it works, come on over. A serious trainer can reach 100 a/d in a few months (right?). Not to painful to try it out in a community setting and see if it's a good thing or bad.

     

    We currently have two working theories as to what will happen as multiple people hit the cap:

     

    1. They'll get bored and either switch to other skills or quit.

     

    2. They'll shift their focus to other PK supporting skills (like magic, ranging, etc) and more OAs to give them the edge against other capped players.

     

    Both theories are less fun. In fact they make the game sound like an experiment more than something i would want to spend my time doing.

     

    As much as we love adapting to change, This is a game and we play it to have fun. No one wants to be forced to do another skill when they are already enjoying their own skill. obviously it would not be fun for a fighter to hit level 100 hand have to do something he enjoys less than fighting..


  5. I think this is a bad idea because there is so many people who have work very had to get there a/d very high over the years, but then you are suggesting to put caps of 130 a/d i really don't see the point because then many people would just quite. The game is fine as it is.

     

    Ermabwed is just trying to stir up trouble because he is a top player in every skill except a/d - where he and his guild are umm.. quite the contrary. I guess the lil guys are getting sick of the fighter branching and pking them so he resorts to dirtbag methods such as this to try to screw everyone.


  6. There are successful caps in other games, so what features are we lacking that keeps people playing those games?

    Althought that would be another topic to discuss, I would ask not what are we lacking, but what might have been taken away that makes so many players leave at high level every so often :P I think there is a little problem here of retaining the players we have throughout their old age ;)


  7. Ermabwed is top player in every skill except a/d. So he/she came up with such idea. Training a/d is hard isnt it Erma? :) ....How about to make caps to other skills..let say 100 or 80? I dont like nasty summoners, crafters etc with such very high lvls which i'll never achieve :P

     

    Ya i bet ermabwed wont fail at all on a Hydrogenium Bar. I think thats Horrible Why not cap alch to 80 so things can be more Fun and challenging. I sometimes miss when i attack a monster and it would only be right for him to fail more frequently on some bars. i have a 90 alch and i never fail on a hydro bar.

    Main idea:

    Cap attack and defense levels at 130.

     

    Possible details regarding implementation:

    [*] Removes the need to change critters so players can bridge the gap to the topX-players (more easily).

    [*] Removes the need for "combat level based pk".

    [*] Going with the two points above I'd say it would remove a lot of reasons for complaints in regards to PK (though probably not the complaints themselves)

    [*] Affects only a very small part of the community (less than 80 players, probably less than 50 of a couple thousand active players). Some of them already voiced their support for this idea in the Chimpanzee thread.

    [*] Would (possibly) increase PK activity for everybody, due to (less to) no reason to train to catch somebody and possibly 'lower' levels become more daring etc.

    [*] Would add more "realism" to the (really) high level mobs, i.e. they'd be too hard for a single player, which would lead to more player-player-interaction, higher prices for items such as the dragon armors etc. ultimately improving gameplay.

    [*] Would make "mob tuning" easier as a über-monster with good drops couldn't be abused for training (like old yetis).

    [*] etc.

     

    1. The whole point of PK and fighting IS YOUR COMBAT LEVEL BASE Thats why A/D is a skill. For a fighter the fun part is that We level our characters and like to use it and see how it does. Like when a manuer makes his first Dragon armor a fighter likes the feeling he gets when he advances to the next monster or kills someone.

     

    2. Yes this does affect a small part of the community as there are many skills for people to focus on and only 1 demographic are fighters, but just because only a small part is fighters they are people too don't u think?

     

    3. This will NOT increase PK we have special arena(s) for lower levels. although this will save us a lot of money on rostos the reason us crazy fighters go into a scary PK map is to kill someone!. The caps make it nearly impossible to make the kill as it is already.

     

    4. You want realism go fight a dragon and tell me how hard he kicks your ass.

     

    5. All fighters should take this personal because your making a direct attack on them. Your right this doesn't affect you... But,you know how removing a fighter's need to level their a/d affect might affect an average player non-fighter? it might make them buy less essence to train because they are capped that also goes for Armor, etc...

     

    You say you have nothing to gain or lose from this idea? How about your Inegrity? Fighters are unhappy enough with the caps and your poking your nose where it doesn't belong. Why would you post this if you yourself say you have nothing to gain in such a controversial topic to Post?


  9. We already hit so weak with the p/c cap that hitting for even less might deter more people from pking since that means you have to spend a lot more on stones and stuff and then the other guy usually just hits a diss ring and teleports away after u wasted a bunch of stuff.

     

    Other than that, I think this is a Great and wonderful idea.. well it is atleast for those who would be under the cap... until they hit it :)


  10. Selling your toy, Luci??? :medieval:

     

    No just some of its items until I can do more damage with my char then a level 1 a/d with all negs to cap will + reasoning. I guess you could say my toys accessories right now are worth more then my real toy.
