Hi,

I'm not entirely sure this will solve your problem as I don't have the hardware you do. I have a mobile Sandybridge I5 (so has it's own graphics) with a discrete NVidia card also. EL would not run on the Intel graphics (and I couldn't get it to run on the NV card as that was not accessible)

It might be possible to overcome this problem with the latest (or nearly latest) Xorg packages (your display software). To do this follow the instructions on this webpage.

https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa. This installs the latest Xorg and card drivers including for Intel. There is a link to the latest stable Xorg release in about the 3rd paragraph.I installed the latest, so far so good. Choose which you prefer :)

Note it suggests you install ppa-purge before you do anything else (so that you have an escape route if all goes pear-shaped) Read paragraph 5 for how to revert

About half way down you will see how to install the ppa to your system.

In the game I had to turn the option "Use Animation Program" off to get my avatar to display correctly.

Like I say, I'm not sure if this will work for you, but myself, I went from no EL under Ubuntu to being able to play. Good luck
