  1. New Positive Perk Idea

    I'd say 3-5pp and 10kgc, this goes up there with I Eat Dead People in usefulness, but it isn't some kind of dominator perk, so it shouldn't be insanely difficult to get.

This is a bit of a summoning idea I got, I noticed that you don't use ores at all in summoning My idea is this: 10-30 ores + 3 LE + 3 Matter Ess = (metal) Goliath. summoning lvl 30 req, uses 35 mana (somewhat like summoning wolves or making bear stones), exp at about 100. these would be about 40/40 a/d for someone who would train on them each ore would change what type of attack they would do and what their coloring is... iron - cold damage silver - magic damage gold - heat damage titanium - radiation damage They would look like an 8' tall humanoid chunk of metal, very rigid but with smooth surfaces. Think somewhat like the Frost Atronachs from Oblivion These things could also be something you could see in titanium mines (NOT in PL's though, that already has a phantom warrior), I'd think the ignore level would be best around 25

    something might've attacked you while you were logging out I guess, I heard a few players saying some of the invasion monsters made it indoors at some point. I know that if you're engaged in combat when you logoff, you finish the fight before your char goes away
  4. unannounced invasion

    When you log into the game perhaps a 20 second invulnerability could help out, it'll take 10 seconds to figure out what's going on when you log (general logging in, reading the chat), and if there's an invasion, then you know what to do, #BEAM!!! If you're like me and have scotty died, grab a ring. if not...poof. I just leave all my valuables in storage in case I login to an invasion

    Try downloading the encoding and such for .ogg, EL uses .ogg for sounds and music IIRC and it's not something too commonplace vs mp3 and wav.
  6. capes/cloaks should give cold protection

    few enough people wear fur clothes as it is T_T j/k j/k If you look at them the material they use seems to be something a bit thinner than fur, so not having cold protection is logical. not to mention what about players on a heat damage map? if something is going to give just cold protection, you'll like get a weakness to heat in the process.

    Actually fluffies aren't that hard, if you can do wolves you can do fluffs pretty much. The only hard part is dishing out 10k for the book and having ELE's to burn on them

    When I started EL the tut NPC didn't even heal! AND WE HAD DEER ON IP! XD actually, I think IP is a good spot but just needs more things, like perhaps a newbie storage for people under oa 20. That would get them into alchemy and the likes right away, give them more to do than just getting killed by rabbits and beavers. Alternatively, you could also consider WSC as mentioned, although the gargoyles would be an issue and weak animals are hard to come by in the city. only way to counter that would be a "safe zone" for the entire WSC map where gargs, bears, pumas, and boars cannot wander in. Before finishing up the post, another solution could be just add more boats! A boat to VotD and DP would be great (directly, new players don't realize that there's more than one boat at the WS docks, I didn't know for awhile) and would spread the new guys out to more maps, and get them to see how much more to the game there is than just rabbits, beavers, some vegetables, ect. edit: reading that previous post, you could have a tutorial CAVE right by the wraith, where players enter and show up alone in there, the game explains to them fighting, alchemy, manu, summoning, and the likes. They can try the stuff there with stuff temporarily given to them or something and get no exp gain perhaps

    I'd hate to see SKF become a pk map, it's got a summoning arena and is a great shortcut across C1 for me :/ 1 second cooldown and Tirnym take my votes, tirnym is a quiet map aside from like 1 guy training on chims, there are no booksellers or arenas there, and nobody really ventures there to begin with. It would likely get more people walking around the actual town areas of WS too edit: Grunabi would be a terrible map for pk, any maps with booksellers shouldn't be pk, or else it'll be like 10k for basic summoning books....hell no.

IMO, summoning has to be one of most time consuming skills to increase in EL (mainly because you can just stock up at storage, manu it all there, and grab more, it involves quite a walk) It also lacks any special summons aside from charm increasing a chance for a double summon so here's the idea, like how you can make modable armors or enriched essences, you can summon up creatures that have more defense and att, and don't lose their hp over time (except to damage of course), and you get 4X exp from the summon. Should probably remain limited to animals and some early lvl monsters such as skeletons and gargoyles. special summons include: rabbit - white rabbit beaver - rat - large rat (could just be a scaled up version) deer - Elk (big ass deer with larger antlers ) snakes - (color) Anaconda (just larger) fox - arctic fox (would be white or light grey) wolf - alpha male (slightly larger, darker fur mb) puma - mountain lion (a little more "slim and sexy" looking perhaps) skeleton - armed skeleton? gargoyles - next size up, Gargoyle Lord for larges Those are just C1 things I summon all the time, I'm not sure what the others could be. I tried to make most of these so if implemented, the staff would have the least amount of new textures to create and instead work with mesh scaling Just throwing the idea out there, it would be nice to see some more of an incentive to go into summoning and ways to increase exp gain in a logical manner edit: hahah I forgot to do a search on the topic ^^; no clue if this has been thrown out there before
  11. This is an idea I'd like to throw out there, but not sure how well it could mix in with the rest of the game's armor. In a nutshell, the idea is being able to customize armor piece by piece. You'd start off with either fur or leather pants/torso. You can create add-ons individually, these would be things like pauldrons, chest plate, belt, knee/ankle guards, ect., not alot of them but perhaps letting you put 2 or 3 parts together. Using metal bars and/or other materials, you could create different kinds of these pieces yielding difference resistances and armor ratings. For example: Iron bars would give you armor, radiation protection, but less protection from heat and cold Leather parts would absorb damage and increase heat and cold protection Fur parts would be a large increase to cold protection and a weakness to heat Each part added could also have effects on accuracy and other stats. Each part would be manufactured seperately, and then you would use with each piece on the base armor, either leather or fur pants/torso. This idea, like I said, may not fit in too well but it really would make each player have their own unique persona going. Also won't make other types of armor seem undesirable, I think that titanium pieces are as stong as it should go, and iron and steel plate are always armors you could look as stronger (well, Iron Plate would be questionable) Graphically, unless you can afford to have multiple objects on a character as a single armor piece without causing slowdowns, it might wind up being "ok, make every combination possible..." You could possibly add in boots and gloves into this, base item + 1 layer of plating. One thing I would like to mention about this finally, I don't think magic parts would work out well since then people would ditch manufacturing normal armors with a chance of a magic piece. Pricing I don't know how this would work, I would assume that fur parts would be the cheapest and easiest to make, then leather, iron, steel, silver, titanium, and so on. Other types of parts could be made from minerals like diamonds or quartz, no clue what pricing they'd go with. If I get the time I might mess around and draw up some sketches of what it could be like, granted I get the time however (art trade, concept art, and music keep me pretty busy )

    I'm pretty surprised that a search didn't bring this idea up! Everyone knows how the storage areas tend to get crowded, and how the wilderness is empty... Why not add some noise? I'm talking like ambient noise of crowd talking, perhaps with 3 or 4 levels of noise (starting with just the occaisional footstep, or cough, ect, moving up to what you hear in a crowd in NYC) that increase in volume and density as more players are near you This could also work in battles, and could have sounds of screaming, battle cries, ect, being played for the number of nearby players currently in combat

    I'm surprised that MP3 files are liscensed....hope I don't have to worry about that if/when I get a record deal X_X may be awhile before I get alot of the sounds done, probably will be going one at a time or in small batches, it's difficult to either find royalty-free base sounds or to physically make your own or generate them, but I'll see what can be done. Summer's here, and my luck with getting a job remains the same *unemployed...AGAIN*, so I have some spare time

    I would hate to see their cooldown time increase as that would also mean their price would drop also, making summoning even less of something to make a profit off of D:

    Just for the record guys, EL does NOT prune your account for inactivity. I've had multiple times no connection for months at a time, and an old friend Rage started playing EL again after a year, with his old character
  16. Crowd noise

    Acute hearing is my thing with sounds, so as is I pick up a bit more than most people do (...including dog whistles....those things are satanic man) I can keep the file sizes down by exporting at 128kbps, I CAN go up to 160-320kbps but the only people who will really notice the difference between the two are acoustic engineers and musicians that pay alot of attention to detail. I should sometime check out how to do C programming, knowing a few of the basics could help me out with sounds since then I'll know how the game triggers their use btw, file formats? I can do MP3 and WAV, not sure about OGG I may not have the encoder for that.
  17. The big thing with this though isn't visual, but through stats. You could essential design a suit of armor you could use against heat damage enemy X, or to traverse dangerous cold area Y. The visual diversity is just a little something else that comes with it. and just for the count, I can make my own custom looks with some photoshop power and saving to the right kind of format and dimensions in the textures folder *doesn't wear fur clothing, wears red FOX fur clothing ^^*

  19. Cast Spells During Combat

    This thread was made in 2003... We CAN cast in combat, and limiting spell ability to armor makes no sense as you need better armor for better creatures, and being barred from restoring just sounds rediculous. no offense, but this thread really should've just stayed dead, uncountable #'s of things have changes since this, cooldown, several perks, items become cheaper, a whole freaking new continent, and hundreds more
  20. Monster Pick Ups

    This idea has been thrown around for a LONG time before now. It sounds good but things like invasions will mean gear will be mixed with several players and the general frustration of dying should be getting back your db to begin with and not seeking vengeance XD

    lol this thread is somehow alive again? I can try those though, since December I've gotten much better as well as upgraded FL Studio when it comes to music and sounds, although it's still difficulty to truly nail the sound of crowd noises. So maybe it wasn't too bad to bring this back from the dead, gives me a little project to bring back into the light and work on again, *still has the original files tucked away on a flash drive* ttlan: I just would like sound for the sake of sound, I play full screen
  22. well I got bored and got 10 lvls of engineering, then heard about traps, and then well....I'm crazy. Here's some of my ideas: -Essence Bomb 2 Death essences and either a fire (heat), water (cold), or matter essence (radiation) can be used to create an element specific damage item that functions similar to a ring of damage. Suggested level for this would be 20 for radiation, 25 for cold, and 30 for heat These would cost presumably 200 gc apiece varying by type -Suicide Bomb (my crazier idea) 50 units of gunpowder, 15 fire essences, 5 death essences, and 10 iron ores. equipped onto your character via waistbelt, and when combat is initiated, the enemy suffers 40-75 damage regardless of armor and resistances, but the player will be hit for 50 damage and the item will be destroyed. lvl 30 engineering, these would cost 2k apiece -Eyeglasses Not sure what you'd use to make these with, but probably an iron ore and a polished diamond. Wear them to increase your perception by 5, essentially making it easier to see in the dark lvl 10 engineering, relatively cheap and easily broken item -Camoflague 3 units of dung ( ) and 1 ash...apply to forehead and face XD acts as a 1 minute MM, used like a potion. 2 minute cooldown to prevent people from just stockpiling and using it constantly through dangerous maps. lvl 15 engineering, and quite disgusting -Arm Sling 10 wood branches, 3 Rabbit Furs. A makeshift arm sling you can wear to regain +1 more hp per minute, but you have -15 attack and defense while wearing it, meaning you should only put it on when you're hurt and safe! lvl 17 engineering, 750 gc or so
  23. Screenshot Contest

    UPDATE!: Since this is obviously moving pretty slow and so is the pile o prizes, I'm extending this another month to end at the end of February, date TBA. This should allow more people to get screenshots in and also to make the prizes a little more rewarding Felt like starting up another little contest here! For this one, it's all about the screenshots. I'm splitting it into 2 categories, "Comedy" and "Badass", pretty self-explanitory. Post up the funniest screenshot you've ever taken or the coolest shot. You can submit screenshots for both, but you can only win prizes for one screenshot. I'm setting the final date for this to be Sunday, January 28th!     seeing that this thread is STILL on the page, I just want to let you guys know you may as well forget about this one XD I dad cut my connection TWICE for a total of about 4-5 months during this, and I don't even have those items anymore. Might do another one though over the summer when I KNOW my dad doesn't have an excuse to cut my connection again
  25. Physical Marks

    I know there is the mark system on maps, but indoors, you can't neccesarily use maps unless you have a map pack. It would be nice you could also place down flag markers, they could be marked on the map like a normal mark or be a "ghost" mark that only appears when you see them, not on the map. Could be useful for scouting and the likes, and especially useful to pinpoint locations edit: these would only show for the player like the F9 fires and marks do, obviously
