  1. New invance rules discussion

    I think whatever the rules are finally decided they should be hard coded so it's impossible to break the rules. I'm sure the mods have better things to do than spend all these hours policing invances and listening to complaints about somebody not following the rules.

    Nice idea. There would probably have to be a time limit otherwise it could be used for a different purpose like mana draining during magic #day, or pvp during sun tzu, etc
  4. I like the idea. Maybe could modify pk arrows with a formula like 20 pk arrows + 2 titanium bars + 1 blackpowder = 20 explosive arrows. The explosive portion of the dmg could be related to the shooter's engineering skill.

    Simant we probably lost invance when nobody was there and mobs got into the fort. Still can reconnect
  6. Let me start by saying I really enjoy the invances and I think they're a great addition to the game. I get disappointed if I miss then, or can't stay long enough to complete it. There has been a lot of discussion about the timing, and players inability to participate for whatever reason. This got me thinking what about a one person invance that could happen at the players convenience? There are many ways this could play out, but the basic concept is the invance starts by sending the person to a smallish map, maybe even as small as a storage map with a bunch (50-100) monsters. I'll list some of the options I have been thinking about. Reward: could be purely xp like invance where creatures drop their normal and rare drops, invasion where they have a chance for rare drops 10K or invasion tokens, etc, or possibly use some instance creatures. Map: single or multi have a goal defend an area, or just kill them all re-enter after death or to restock allowed? Could be like instance die with rosto you return, die without you leave map and your db behind Creatures: Could be random like haider, but with chance to pass Could choose from a list, but the reward is proportional to the difficulty. Ex if a 100 a/d choose rats they would get 1 xp bonus per creature, but if a 40s choose fluffies they would get 1000xp per creature. Numbers aren't specific, just to illustrate a point Could be all a single type of creature, or a mix. Could pick from a list, but the list is restricted to +/- 10 a/d of the player Timing: like daily, once every 4th game day hour based like instance with a chance to buy a reduction in wait time Anyway just some thoughts. I realise it will have to be balanced. I'm sure there are a million reasons why it can't or won't work but thought I'd throw it out there.
  7. day of Invasions

    I participated in the under 100 part in sedi and had a great time while I could stand the heat. Had to bail once the DCW made an appearance. Positives: good choice of map, didn't have to wander around forever only to find that wave had already been killed. Excellent mix of monsters. A wide enough variety that even those on the low end of the range, or with a non-fighter build could enjoy. Lots of monsters! Negatives: can't think of any yet
  8. New instavasion summary

    I haven't been able to find much official information written down about the new instavasions, so I thought I'd summarise what I've been able to gather. If anything is incorrect please post corrections, or add new information. If the information is repeated somewhere else feel free to delete this. - The goal is to keep the creatures out of the city - There are 5 ranges 40-59, 60-79, 80-99, 100-119, and 120+ - probably require 15-20 people to be successful - if successful everyone receives an a/d xp bonus - They are started from the MM battle hall and each person needs 2 amber to enter. - They must be started manually by radu. (pm him at least 1 day in advance when you have team ready and scheduled) - If you die you go to C2 underworld, but you may re-enter by returning to MM, but no amber required for re-entry - If you die you leave a db unless you have a rosto That's about all I have. edited to add info from replys

    I am using a SSD! only for the actual program portion of EL, the ~.elc dir is on a regular hdd

    I usually have fps capped at 60, but inside the tavern on IP I can get 160+ fps Maybe the appearance of slow map changes is due to the fact that every change is the same speed. In the previous version the 1st time I entered WS it took a couple seconds, but subsequent times it was much faster. Now each time it is the same couple seconds.

    by my rough experiments with a stopwatch it takes ~2.5-2.75 secs to load WS coming from IP. Going from WS to IP is instant. I repeated this several times.

    mine: AMD 64 dual core 4600, 4GB ram Ubuntu 64bit 11.04 previous version was 1.9.1 from bluap ppa I'd say the map changes are probably 4X slower than previous, and there is a significant difference between maps with the larger ones, MM, WS being the slowest. I even noticed it coming from under the tavern in EVTR. If it helps, the 1st 1/3 of the progress bar when changing maps takes the longest and the 2nd 2/3 is very fast.

    It takes the same amount of time every time I enter the map. I thought possibly the 1st time would be a little slower, but each subsequent times would be faster, but that is not the case. I have a fairly modern computer and video card so I don't think it's a hardware issue. Is there some piece of information I can provide to help?

    I've installed the newly released linux updates that were offered through the update manager in Ubuntu 11.04. Everything seems to be working, but the map changes are extremely slow proportional to the size of the map being entered. Entering WS from NC takes a good 2 seconds where the previous version was almost instant. I'm sure I'm not providing enough info, but if you need something specific just ask.
