Add Life Span to Stones /Enriched Ess
SlimPickins replied to Ateh's topic in Suggestions - General, Misc.
This has been suggested before. I didn't want it then and I don't want it now. -
not me. anyone know how often the server saves its data?

You were drinking at work? I hope your boss doesn't play EL.
-
Yellow snake. Same size and stats of the red snake but much higher chance to poison. Should probably not be found in safe maps.
-
Demon penguin. Kind of like a fluffy rabbit. Should have eyes that glow red.
-
This would make it a lot easier to find a training partner since everyone would have the same combat level. We would get normal xp for the capped levels, right?
-
Is that a nice way of saying good people play EL even though it's a lousy game?
-
If I want to start over I can create a new character, thank you very much.

It would not be faster, we had to wait longer for cooldown on food. Bad ides, cooldown is why I don't make HE now. I think more would stop making them. Toadstools and bones don't have a cooldown. If you don't mind restoring a lot or drinking antidotes or if you have I eat dead people perk, food cooldown isn't an issue.

Harvest events happen more frequently while flower picking because flowers harvest faster than other things. Reducing the mini event rate for flowers would defeat the purpose of having mini events, since it would make harvest alts more effective. I like Elf_Ninja's idea of tying mini events frequency to multiple skill levels. It would reduce mini event frequency for high level players but not harvesting alts.

It seems like all this would do is make mixing essences 4 times faster. In principle, it's not a bad idea so long as it's balanced. There would need to be a cost involved. Maybe you only get half the normal experience mixing this way. Or maybe it takes twice as much food. Or both. Maybe the fail rate would double. There could be a level 50 spell that needs to be cast to get fast mixing. It could last 90 seconds and be expensive in terms of mana and reagents. That way people could choose between fast mixing at a cost or normal mixing. Honestly, I'll still not sure if this would be a good thing for the game.

getdeb.net will be packaging eternal lands
SlimPickins replied to LabRat's topic in Suggestions - General, Misc.
I'll be very glad when all I have to do to install EL is fire up my package manager, search for Eternal Lands, and install it. I think this will get a lot more Linux users playing because they will see it in their list of available applications, instead of having to search the internet for Linux games. -
There are many threads where people complain about players overpowered and lack of diversity. The way to fix this is to reduce the skill level caps, including oa, to 100. That way players will reach end game much faster. All the top players will be equally as strong stats wise, so strategy will matter much more than it does now. This also has the potential to increase build diversity by causing players to have far fewer pp to use. No more 48 48 48 12 8 8. People will need to decide if they would rather have more C or P. Do they want to be summoners, mages, pure fighters, or whatever. Players will no longer be able to be all things at once. Players will have to specialize, thus creating the diversity so many people want. A single player won't be able to kill very strong monsters, making teamwork necessary. This has added benefits, such as reducing the number of rare drops brought into the game, and people will no longer have to wait in line for spawns since it will take multiple players to fight high level monsters. Another benefit is that people trying to increase their skill rank to make the top 10, or top 5, or whatever will no longer waste their time level grinding, and just play the game to have fun. The only downsides that I can see will be that players with no friends will complain that they can no longer kill yetis and dragons alone, and level grinders with nothing better to do will no longer be able to brag that they're rank #1 in a particular skill. So, what does everyone think?

I vote for this one.

Correct, boog. Huzzah and congratulations.

I think this is a great idea. The only way to eliminate all mini events to to make those 7 skills all level 100, which no one would take the time to do with a harvesting alt. It also encourages well roundedness both to peaceful mixers and fighters who make their own essences and such. If this gets implemented, I'll drop a bunch of gc on looms to get my tailoring level up.

Saved recipes for the storage window
SlimPickins replied to bkc56's topic in Suggestions - General, Misc.
Of course the storage window doesn't show the full list now without scrolling. I want it to now. See here http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=51030 I think the best way to do this is whatever way needs the fewest clicks. -
Saved recipes for the storage window
SlimPickins replied to bkc56's topic in Suggestions - General, Misc.
I wouldn't want the recipes to be at the bottom of the categories unless the storage window were made big enough to show the entire list without scrolling. An alternative would be to have preset buttons like on a car radio. The buttons could either be added to an existing window or a new window could be added. Having buttons and no scrolling necessary would minimize the number of clicks, which I would like very much. If a recipes window were to be added, everything could go there: the 6 or so Load buttons (renameable, hopefully) and a Save As button that would take snapshot of the current inventory and ask which button to assign it to. Renaming should work the same as changing the values at the bottom of the inventory window. No Delete button would be necessary. New recipes can be assigned to buttons at any time. If everything to do with recipes were in a separate window, it wouldn't add any clutter to existing windows and players that don't care about recipes could just not open the window. The Store All button was a great new feature. If recipes functions like I described were added, I would only need 3 buttons: Load, Mix All, and Store All. It would get rid of the annoyances associated with mixing and make the whole process much more streamlined. -
Ferny is correct. Huzzah and congratulations.
