  1. Below are links to download the RELEASE CANDIDATE for the 1.9.4 client. (Win/Mac builds are by Sir_Odie, Linux static builds done by bluap) EXPERIENCED USERS ONLY. If you don't know what you're doing, you could screw up your el data or installation. MAC USERS: Mac Download: http://www.eternal-lands.com/EL-MAC-1.9.4-RC.zip and install. It should not have any effect on your current client, and when run it will take you directly to the Test server. LINUX / WINDOWS users: Please follow instructions very carefully. 1. DO NOT use these builds on the main server, or PK server. Use them on the Test Server only! (In the same respect, it's best not to use your current client on Test server.) 2. Make a backup copy of both your current EL client folder, and the EL data folder (which contains your screenshots, counters, chat logs, etc.) If you don't know where to find these, you didn't pass the "experienced users only" requirement at the top. ;-) 3. Download the correct package for your computer (Right-click > Save as...): Windows users: http://www.eternal-lands.com/EL-1.9.4-RC.zip Linux 32-bit (i686): http://www.eternal-lands.com/EL-1.9.4RC-i686.tar.gz Linux 64-bit (x86_64): http://www.eternal-lands.com/EL-1.9.4RC-x86_64.tar.gz 4. Overwrite your current client with this client. (Did you do step 2? You *must* backup your current client? You will need that backup to return to the main or PK servers.) 5. Run the command you'd use to access the Test server. (The binary followed by the word test, i.e. "c:\Program Files\Eternal Lands\el.exe" test ) For the moment, we are primarily testing that the client works. Spend some time exploring, mixing, kicking critters, whatever on test. Yes, the new buildings, caves, and other things are on the Test server, and yes, you can access them on the Test server with this release candidate. No, I'm not directly telling where they are. It's up to radu if/when those get posted. I'll say that all new locations (barring one small returned house in WS) are on C2 insides for now. The majority is not "secret", but for the moment some may wish to try and find new stuff on their own. Some server updates (spawn changes, NPC changes, and such) are not done yet. Once the client is deemed workable, radu will update Test with those changes. They mostly affect new or re-added locations. TO RETURN TO THE MAIN SERVER: Backup the above-installed RC client to another directory (so you can just copy it back when you want to try the RC again later). Replace it with your current client which you backed up in step 2, and as well overwrite your data files with the backups you made of those. Data files are very sensitive, keep the ones you use on Main backed up and separate. And again, do not use this RC on the main server. They have very different data files, particularly maps, and will cause you many problems. SUPPORT/ISSUES: If there's a definite issue with the client, please post it here. Channel 6 on Test server will be monitored for general discussion, and if you find new locs you don't necessarily need to keep them secret yourself. You can bring up an issue on the channel as well, however any real issues should be posted here so they won't get lost in chat there. INVADERS: There are a handful of invaders. They are located in a new spot, and you'll be safe from them even if you enter, so don't worry about running into them.
  2. As you have probably seen, we're prepping a new client release. With it will come updated maps. The maps coming with the new client have all been heavily gone through to fix walkability issues. In the majority of cases, this has meant adding walkable tiles, however in others it's meant removing walk tiles, be it because they shouldn't have been walkable in the first place, or slight changes to spots now may have a rock or something on the spot. If you use hyperbags, it's important to keep this in mind. If a tile is no longer accessible when the client is finally updated, and you have a hyperbag on it, that bag is gone forever. Being the one that did the majority of this type of map work, I can say there's a 99.999999999% chance this won't affect you, as I always aimed towards adding walkable tiles instead of removing them whenever possible. But no map should be considered safe for this. A ton of work has been done throughout all of the maps, inside and out. If you were using a "bugged" location (hidden under a rock or such where a player shouldn't actually be able to walk) you should definitely be concerned, as I've eliminated over 120 such locations, likely all of them. What to do? For the time being, you can continue using hyperbags as you have been. This is just an early warning. (It's recommended to go ahead and start clearing out any bags you're not actively using.) Keep an eye out here, I'll post an update at least a week in advance before the client update*. Once I do, you're highly recommended to clear out any hyperbags you're using. While it's almost certain it won't be a problem, should you have your bag on a no-longer-valid tile you'll likely never see it again (unless radu chooses to offer an option of course). ( *We have no date set for the update, though the time is coming very soon as most everything is ready for testing.)
  3. Using hyperbags? Important Notice

Instance AFAIK invance (Isca) map should be thought of as any other game map in this case. Post corrected.
  4. Using hyperbags? Important Notice

Last last last last call. ;-) Any hyperbags in instance maps after the client update (which should hopefully be any day now) will be lost. If you have a bag on a normal game map, one way to determine if your bag is safe is install the Release Candidate, go to the Test server using it, and see if you can walk on the coordinates where your bag is. The maps there are as they will be on 1.9.4 release. (Any bags on guild maps will be okay, those have not changed.) Otherwise, it's your risk to not empty it before the client update.
  5. Testing is complete, and has been successful. Only some very minor "cosmetic" issues reported that were quick fixes, absolutely nothing of a nature that would stop a release. So here's hoping we'll be seeing the 1.9.4 client shortly! In the meantime, the Release Candidate should continue to be used (only) on the Test server. (For anyone who separate-installed a release candidate, once 1.9.4 is released you can delete that.)
  6. Just some of the new places you can look for: http://i.imgur.com/nb7vuLm.jpg Some, not close to all. ;-) Come help test and join in on the hunt fun on channel 6. You'll be the envy of EL! (Okay, not really, but help test anyway. The more who test, the faster it goes, the sooner we get this thing live!)
  7. How Do I Know If I'm Seeing the Updated Maps? - Go to Irinveron [260,532]. If you're seeing a fence there (which isn't there on main server), you're seeing the new maps. (If you start falling into random holes on the way there, you know you've set things up wrong. You won't fall in holes that aren't there if you have the correct map setup.) BTW, the Test Server currently has a high #il number. This is due to testing of the new C2 global invasion system. Don't worry, only shy rats and invaders capped too low to attack anyone get used for these tests. You're safe to walk around and explore for new stuff.
  8. TAB Maps You can put unofficial maps (Olivine, Bloodsucker, etc.) into your maps folder for the RC. They'll work just as before, except they of course don't have new places on them so you'll still have to click-walk around in those.
  9. HOLES IN THE GROUND If you're seeing these, the problem is on your side. These are being spotted by Win/Linux users who tried to install separately instead of the way stated above. If you are falling into "holes" in the maps, your setup is done incorrectly, and even if you're using the new binary, your el.ini both in the binary's directory and possibly where your counters and such are still point to the 1.9.3 data path and you're seeing 1.9.3 maps when the server is letting you walk on 1.9.4 maps.
  10. Channel 6 on Test server is the place to go to chat with other Testers, general questions, and such. I'll be on and monitoring it whenever I'm home and awake. ;-) But always post real issues with the client and such here.
  11. Okay, I'll give something to start with for new stuff to look for. This is only a start, there's more on other maps. Irinveron - There's something new on the main map, and a new place in the caves
  12. Using hyperbags? Important Notice

VERY IMPORTANT - INSTANCERS: If you're keeping bags on instance maps, get them off immediately! You *will* lose your bags on instance maps when the client update happens. You have about one week left to get them cleared out. Everyone else: It's last chance, clear out your hyperbags immediately. Management will not be responsible if you can't access them on update. And there will be no way to get them back.
  13. desert pines, small visable polygon hole?

You can post for maybe a later release, the bug forum never shuts down. ;-) But this coming release is "frozen" to get everything prepped to get it out hopefully next week. Only game-stopping issues will get handled as found on final maps I've sent in for the final testing.
  14. desert pines, small visable polygon hole?

I've fixed a massive amount of stuff that's not reported.
  15. First post minor updates to make it current. What should be the final maps have been submitted for final check. Barring anything drastic, we should be ready for a release in about 1 week! (Again, guess based on current status, don't hold me to it, I don't make the final decision nor can I predict if something bad should occur that could cause a delay, hehe.)
  16. desert pines, small visable polygon hole?

Already fixed in next client maps.
  17. In a fit of madness (a.k.a "I got radu's approval"), four homes in Melinis will be given away!* *Winners get: Your name will be put on one of the 14 houses in Melinis city, meaning when players enter, it'll say "You entered the home of (player name)". It's not private, just a way to get your name in the game. HOW: There will be 4 find-me contests announced in the game this coming week. I'll do them during different time periods so there's more chance for everyone to participate. They'll be announced in blue spam, at which time you tune in to #jc 7 events channel. From there, I'll start providing clues on where to find my alt TwistedSister, who will be in place but not logged in until the contest officially starts so noone can start looking early. The clues will start very vague, and slowly get more details, with 1 new clue every 5-10 minutes. You'll need to use your map knowledge! (No secret areas will be used.) I WILL NOT respond to questions or requests for more clues in between, excepting only if a given clue needs clarification. It's not supposed to be easy. Players may only win once. 4 different players' names are to appear on the homes. You can pick which home, first win, first served. Names will be added with the 1.9.4 client release, and will remain so long as the house is not needed in 1.9.5 or later for an EL story purpose. Radu of course reserves the right to evict you at any time should you be a problem child who later ends up getting banned from the game. ;-) I cannot redesign the house interiors. They need to stay in the proper theme. (I may be able to address a bed color change, or different flowers in a vase, or some other small items, but no overhaul changes.) Coming at various random times this week! Contest Rules: 1- It's the first person to click to TRADE my alt TwistedSister that wins. (Seeing me first won't count if someone else comes and click-trades me first.) 2- No PMs, and I will not answer questions. If a clue is a bit vague, it's supposed to be. 3- The name to go on the house will be the name of the character that trades me. No alt substitutions. Find me with the character whose name you want to use. 4- Only one win per person. (Give others a chance as well. Your alts are probably better known than you think, and attempts at winning a second time can result in you losing both. No patience or tolerance for the greedy.) Notes: - When I say "map" in a clue, I mean the TAB map, anything you can see when you press TAB would count for that map, inside or out. - No secret locations - This means TwistedSister will not be in any place that requires a "use with" item, nor any area not accessible by a standard door, cave, sewer grate, flag, ladder... i.e. you won't be clicking random items like corks or rocks.
  18. Win a Fabulous Melinis home! :-D

The final house has been won. Congrats to Maxine! FTR, the final location found was here in Zirakinbar: Clues given were: For All Contests: Where I am, I cannot be PKed, and no normal-spawn creatures that ignore MM Perk can get to me. No secret locations. STARTER CLUES: A) You can harvest on this TAB map. B ) There's logs to harvest on this TAB map, but no branches. C) At least one outhouse as well. CLUE: There are one or more "aggressive" creature types that call this TAB map home.
  19. With items being asked for that are NPC-bought, plus things like leather helms which are overdone for leveling and not drops (school, or selling en masse to Trik), the purpose is a bit more expanded, and some manuers use this daily to even get exp and sell items. Add to that the high-level stuff that's been added where you can bet the majority is bought off the NPCs. Also outside the "original purpose". Basically from day one, this daily was never that limited in purpose. These would be no different than steel chains purpose-wise. It may have been a primary purpose in the beginning, but it was never the only purpose. And with all the additions to it since and the eventual drying up of drop items in storage that comes with every quest of this nature, I don't think it's even the primary purpose anymore.
  20. And this is how suggestions end up not getting listened to, as the actual topic gets completely lost. When I asked about a map thing I could do, I treated every off-topic post as being *for* what I asked for, and I hope the ones here will be as well by radu. So getting back on topic: Regardless of their use, S2Es (and any other makeable low-mix swords or armors that aren't currently asked to give, for that matter) are just as qualified to be asked for in Daritha's daily as anything already asked for. These being both well-dropped and makeable at relatively low manu levels, there's no scarcity issues involved. No objections here.
  21. Win a Fabulous Melinis home! :-D

The third house has been won. Congrats to King_Turtle! Last contest coming, during a different time of (real-life) day this weekend. FTR, the third location found was here (White Stone City - the building to the left of the pic is the WS PK Arena): Clues given were: - For All Contests: Where I am, I cannot be PKed, and no normal-spawn creatures that ignore MM Perk can get to me. No secret locations. STARTER CLUES: A) Leonard cannot get me where I am. B ) You can harvest on this TAB map. C) You can cook meat somewhere on this TAB map. CLUE: At least one of the three rabbit types call this TAB map home. CLUE: This map is NOT one that the dung portal room (hall of outhouses) will drop you in. CLUE: There are more than five NPCs outside on this map. CLUE: Books can be bought from an NPC either on this map or in a building in this map. CLUE: The Nenorocit can sometimes be spotted on this map.

FTR, the second location found was here (Melinis sewer, those boxes in the top right corner are where storage is at): Clues given were: For All Contests: Where I am, I cannot be PKed, and no normal-spawn creatures that ignore MM Perk can get to me. No secret locations. STARTER CLUES: A) Leonard cannot get to me where I am. B ) You can harvest on this map. C) This TAB map includes at least one harvestable type of quartz, or more. CLUE: This TAB map has at least one NPC somewhere on it. CLUE: You will NOT need to click on a door to get where I am. CLUE: You can harvest branches on this TAB map. Very odd for an insides location.
