Combat simulations

Recommended Posts

Umm could it be possible of the players/monsters/animals could actually do something in the combat instead of just repeating the same moves. I mean like move randomly, back a couple steps when they/you dodge and go like a little down when you take a hit so that the combat 'would take more map space' its kinda boring looking. Alltho i don't want my char to look like any fucking Micheal "Lord Of The Dance" Flatley  but it would rock of they could actually 'interact' in combat and make us think that they are actually fighting instead of repeating themselves ;)

[Edit] And once you are nearly dead you would actually go down but if you manage to heal/restore you would somehow dodge the hit and counter it. I know it wouldn't be strictly turn based but it would look alot nicer than atm. And once you die your corpse could remain there for a few seconds before you respawn in hell [/Edit]

... blood would make it M rated... not allowed to play M rated games... more realism would make it run slower, take more memory, and for the people with 6-month old computers, that could be a big problem... but i like the idea!

Some special moves with according animations would be great. It would make the fights not only more entertaining but enthralling, too.

no animations, just a few more moves and it would be awesome, it wouldn't take that much memore if we had 20 different moves instead of 2

As your Attack level rises, your character should do different moves when fighting.

Say you start out by kicking or punching like it does now, then for each 5 levels of attack your character starts doing something different. And each move gets more spectacular as your Attack skill rises.

That would give people another reason to level up their fighting skills (just to see the next move) and it would be entertaining just to watch a high level player fight.

You could also do different attack animations for magical attacks.

Yea, you could get some 'special move' every 5 or 10 levels, and you could use it from some quick bar or you could set it to some quickbar or just make a menu for them. It could take some mana points and it would take some time to do it again. Like double damage etc, higher chance to hit/dodge, and of course they would have their own special moves :-)

The characters are .md2 files right? I've never worked on them before, but I'm faster learner. What software do you use to make the .md2 files? I'll take a crack at making the characters do different stuff.
