Problem Connecting Still

I just downloaded the game for a second time but I still cannot connect. It says when I click on the icon: "can't resolve server address and perhaps you aren't connected to the internet or your DNS is down." How do I solve this problem? I've heard of other people with the same problem, but the advice given to them didn't help me. Do I need to find a new server to play the game from?

In your el.ini file (which is in your EL directory) find and change this line:

#server_address = eternal-lands.solexine.fr

to

#server_address = 62.93.225.26

Where exactly do I find my EL Directory? Can you type directions in a simple order please? I know, I'm stupid.

If you have no idea where you have installed EL go look into Program Files

or just Start --> search and type el.ini.

it's taking a long time to search.

It couldn't find anything, but I do have the eternal lands icon on my desktop and in my "all programs". Do I click on the icon in my programs to change the server?

Okay lets do it some more way:

Start --> Run --> type ELConfig

There is in front box with server host, remove it and put there:

62.93.225.26 be careful to type it correctly, make sure, then click "Okay".

it says windows cannot find EL config. Maybe I downloaded it wrong.

Search your system by ELConfig.exe or el.ini - make sure you typed it correctly and not marked any

odd options also set option "all disks" when you choose a location to search in.

Maybe I should call Dell...On the search thing where it says a word or phrase in the file, should I type Eternal Lands? Because I tried this and it couldn't find anything.

Look. You have to FIND A FILE in your system and run it (ELConfig.exe) or edit it (el.ini).

Use windows search which you have in you Start menu and FIND THOSE FILES.

If you can't find it so reinstall the game and take a look on specified installation path,

write it down, then install te game.

do this right click on your el icon on the desktop

 

go to Properties

 

look at where it says location

((something like c:\docments adn settings\program file\eternal lands))

 

I asume you know how to find that file but if not

 

go to your my computer double left click

go to your second file inbetween the \..\

repeat till you are in your el folder

 

the file elconfig.exe should be in the main folder...looks like a smiling computer....

 

double left click it

where it says host: eternal-lands.solexine.fr

change to 62.93.225.26

 

as plat said make sure you type it correctly

I went into My Computer and then into my documents and I found el. I clicked on it and went to Eternal-Lands Config. I changed the host into 62.93.225.26, but it still says that it cannot connect when I click on the EL icon. Did I do something wrong?

I still can't connect to the server, but the message is a little different this time. It just says cannot connect to server, nothing about my internet or my DNS not working. Is there another server address that might possibly work?

Are you running some leet firewall software? Then you have to unblock port 2000 or turn it off.
