Making Rare Things Rare Again

Recommended Posts

I've been reading discussions and topics, and speaking to people in game, alot is being made of the fact that rare books and equip are no longer rare, anyone can have them.

I thought, what about if they really were rare, literally. What if there were a set number of them in the game, that couldn't change?

For a simple, low level book there might be hudreds, thousands even. But for the rarest there might only be a dozen or so, and to top that, you'd have to be in constant posession of them for a certain amount of time until you gain their benefits permanently.

In real life you don't buy a book on, say, Physics, read it once and then sell it, you keep it, refer back to it every now and then, until, after a few months or years you're an expert and can remember the information easily.

Doing this would make people more reluctant to sell or give away those rare items, and it would cut out the finding of thousands of rare books in combat. This could be applied to higher level weapons as well.

the problem is, if you have like 10, what sort of prices will they go for? and if some rich person (or persons) buys all of them, the price goes even higher and they're the only ones able to use the skill.

the idea has merit, but not a set limit at any one time

this idea was brought up before and was dismissed. In the last update, a week or so ago, drops were lowered and the difference is clear, much less drops now, so give it some time and see what happens
