When I paid $200 for Charn, it was with the understanding that this one time charge covered him. When $100 was paid for Shari, that was under the same understanding.
When our guild worked to raise $200 for our map, we also knew that we would have to raise another $100 for a guard bot. All of these decisions to support EL were based on the idea that they were ONE TIME CHARGES. It is a breach of contract to change your mind after the fact and require more money.
I have a hosting account with a provider who at one time offered the account for LIFE at $100. Now they charge $100 yearly for all new accounts. However they can not legally take away my lifetime account and so they honor that agreement. I dont see this as any diferent.
Please reconsider the existing bots to be "grandfathered" in as is the normal legal presidence in such matters.

I also voted that they should be part of armor, not weapons. And since the system of what can and can't be equiped at the same time will need adjusting, it seems like the idea of dual wielding may fit well here.
Say for example I dont want a shield.. instead I want to hold 2 serps. That would totally rock. But I would think that some sort of skill be required to wield 2 weapons. It would be dificult to swing them both with accuracy. So maybe this would require a rare book drop to learn dual wielding. Then from there, maybe there would be books for each weapon you wish to dual wield. This would prevent dual wielding of weapons like staffs which would make no sence. So there would be no book for this.
So, I would have to find the "Dual weapon wielding" book and read it. Once I have done this, I need to find the "Dual Serp Wielding" book before I could equip 2 serps. And even then, I think there would need to be an accuracy hit maybe -3 or so as well as a possible defense hit too (since it's obviously a very aggressive move). But then you could get 2 hits per round (or chance for it at least).
I would make the books even more rare than the typical rare book drop.

Hmm.. You are recognizing that the BROD is a problem, but I dont think your solution solves it. Even if I have that shield you mention, I still have a chance at loosing my thermal serp (if I had one) or NMT cloak or whatever. Now this being a game and all I would be willing to accept that loss but there is a catch in this case. The EL store.
Say I bought a Thermal serp from the EL store ($90 us dollars). Then someone uses an item to break my item?? Sorry, that scenario does not work for me. And as long as the BROD exists, I will not be purchasing any PK items from the store. It just makes no sence to me.

Well, Charn also has this feature which has only allowed guild members to send message to this point. Anyone can read messages sent to them via charn.
Charn also does not log the pm's publically. They are part of a debug log which is only reviewed when someone attempts to scam the bot. So, if need be.. I would be happy to open this feature to the public.

What ever happened to that "Outlaw" idea. Where someone could do #outlaw and for 1 ingame day you are an outlaw.. that was a great idea.

I was just wondering if there is any news yet as to the final punishment.
I really miss having my guildies on line (most of them are council members in IRON). They are all very upright citizens and would certainly not repeat the offense. Especially since we were all under the impression that it was not against the rules to begin with. Obviously we should have asked a mod about it instead of following the advice of other players doing the same.
I pleed on behalf of IRON, please un-ban these players soon as they are dearly missed.

If he managed to atk you before you logged out.. then you logged out (your client closed) then he killed you, your client would have no record of this. If he killed you when you logged back in while you were waiting for the screen to load.. your client would know about it.
Therefore... he got lucky and tapped you just before you logged out

I am not a strong pker, I get pwned almost every time I gear up.. and I see no problem with a delay on logout.. maybe 10 seconds.. And it does not have to apply to server dis-connects.. it could be that when someone tries to close their client, the client sends a message to the server letting the server know it's an intentional shutdown.. then the server applies the 10 second delay.
Therefore if the network dis-connects you, or the server does (Grue) there would be no delay. I really dont see what problems this introduces.

I think a log out delay works well.. not to state the obvious, but WOW has a 20 or 30 second logout delay. During which time a dialog is shown which says loggin out in... and has a cancel button.
It works wonderfully and would also work great in this case IMHO.
-PS Not wanting to make this game like WOW.. that would suck.. but there may be a few universal ideas that work well in any MMORPG.

Wizz, you know I love you to death, but you don't normally invite someone to pk..it just happens. I see it was a misunderstanding, so next time, if you want to fight to the death say , "Hey <name> let's fight ,winner take all." or something, cause I probably would have taken your invitation as asking for a friendly fight as well.

Erm I do that every where I am materialistic. With my a/d you can't really pk anything. I was just sitting around looking cool as always. Don't give my stuff back I already blew all of my money on buying replacement stuff.

FYI: "let's give it a shot beorn" while stiinig in arena with weapon armed does not mean I want a friendly fight. I would certainly have specified friendly fight if that's what I meant. You were sitting at the arena in full armor and weapon.. even a Mirror cloak if I remember correctly. Are you really saying that you were there to PVP?? No, you were there to kill whomever you had the chance to kill..
So I say.. "let's give it a shot beorn".. not a PVP invitation at all.
Secondly, I did not ask the others to jump in. They did that on their own. Liquid was fists on the bag.. but from the look of the log.. he was surprised at my challenge to you too.. seems everyone there understood it was a challange.. not a friendly fight.. (accept you).
For that I apologize.. and I had planned on returning what you lost today because I understand how you may have mis-understood. I even told you when I logged off (as I do EVERY DAY at 5pm my time) that I would be back tomorrow and to pm me if you still had concerns.
Instead you take it to outlaws. It was a mis-understanding on your part. Dono why you assumed friendly.. but you did.. so I will still return your gear as I am honorable and friendly.. ALWAYS!
Tho as I stated.. I got only an iron helm and a steel shield.
PS- Liquid.. my sword was out the entire time..

The updated IRON guildmap is in the client update and does not appear to be on the server. There are areas which I can not walk on because the old map did not allow it. Also, there is a newer DEF file on the test server than the production server.
Will there be an update of these files on the server as part of the client update?

Well, I have to say, that in light of looking at it from the standpoint of bandwidth and server maintenance I can see the need to make money to cover that. Im sure the EL store helps, but I also agree with SandCastle. I own 2 store bots, and I can totally afford $40 per year. So why not leave Guard bots as a one time investment, and from now on change the pricing for store bots as you have intended.
While I still feel it would be wrong to charge people who have paid under the old agreement, It would not be wrong to ask them if they would be willing to come under the new agreement in order to help continue the growth and development of the game. This way, those who cant afford to pay yearly would not have to, but those who could afford it would have a chance to help support the game they love. I would gladly be the first to sign up. I love this game, and the bots are a huge part of why I love it.
It was just quite a shock to have it unveiled in that way.
One other question, since the $100 pays for the first 2 years, would a double blessed bot ($200) pay for maybe 3 or 4?
