  1. New skill for theives

    Hrm...interesting...I kinda like it but the addition of an automatic 15 seconds PKable status on the thieve when they steal from a PC is needed to balance it I think. This way thieves would be very careful of when they attempt to steal. If a thief tries to steal in DP storage for example they would be PKable in a mass of bored people looking for something to do In addition I would suggest that if they attempt to steal from a monster that they would be at -15 def and that the monster automatically attacks them if they detect the attempt (a use for the perception attribute perhaps?).

  3. Just a quick thought that came to me reading some of the other threads in Suggestions at the moment: The in game money drains only affect people who try to develop a broad range of skills. If you choose to play a fighter/alchemist you'll never be touched by them and can, potentially, earn buckets of money from making He's for others. New plan! Get rid of (or lessen) the money drains and stop the shops from buying some items instead? The problem seems to be that an over abundance of money is entering the economy causing prices to sink. Players don't create gold - NPC's do (ignoring b2g for the moment). So stop the NPC's paying 1 gold for every two fruits from behind their barrell stack. Stop paying whatever for Lilacs when the shop never sells them anyway. Stop creating easy gold. Influx of money slows. The amount in circulation goes down as players retire, unlike currently where if someone with 1 million gold retires today, it would already have been replaced in 'created' gold by tomorrow. The value of gold rises and the economy stablises. Just a thought, so please feel free to tear it apart

    I'm not saying that the fighters are rich Kl4uz - what I'm saying is that if someone choose to develop as a fighter/alchemist that the amount of money drained would be minimal compared to say a manufacturer training or a crafter. Additionally if the fictional character spent enough time to seriously alc they could make a fortune from HE's from their Alchemy skill without ever suffering the money drains. To Kendai: While the fruits/flowers are valuable between levels 1-20 they cause a problem after that by being 'abused' to generate vast monies. I have no problem with low level chars getting the money they need to start out but unless some way can be devised to prevent the abuse those resources cause more problems then deliver benefits in my opinion.
  5. Agreeing with Aisy here - I'm an allrounder (except summoning) and I think that most of the people from my TZ that see me would agree that I'm sociable. Most of the really social players I encounter would be allrounders too I think. Nothing against those who concentrate on a single aspect of the game. I know that one of the reasons I want to be good at all the skills is to be more useful to other players, either on a friendship or a pay basis. That does seem to be a common attitude amonst the allrounders, along with the desire to have a command of the skills from the purely selfish reason of wanting to get the feeling of achievement that comes from it
  6. Just replying before someone else does (inevitably) regarding this. EL has no classes and was designed to be a classless system. If the Dev's/Mod's have any plans to implement classes they haven't shared it with anyone and have done a consummate deception job by denying repeatedly (average seems to be about once a week on the forums) that EL will ever have classes. So there ya go really - you make your own 'class' by what skills you choose to level and which skills you ignore. You're a fighter, I'm an all rounder, Beorn is an alchemist - by our choices. The great thing about this system is that if you get bored of fighting or Beorn gets bored of alchemy there are no penalties to developing a new skill, like crafting

    Double click on My Computer Double click on Local Disk (C:) Double click on Program Files Double click on your Eternal Lands folder. Look for a file called error_log.txt - if you can't find it go to Tools | Folder Options, click on the View tab and untick Hide extensions for known file types. Copy the last 20 lines or so of the error_log.txt file and post them here - should help resolve the issue.
  13. Was thinking that a rationality cloak, only available from the cloak seller in WS, which gave a bonus of +10 to the rationality cross attribute would be cool. Price it at 10-15kgc to act as another money sink and to price it out of range for anyone who isn't serious about researching a broad range of skills. Just a thought - now fire away!

    Too cheap would cause problems - thats why the high cost. My guildies have already suggested that 17k would actually be a reasonable price for this item - tending to agree with them.

    I've had the same thing happen with coins, one pile in inventory gathered from monster drops, second withdrawn after from storage. Dropping both piles to the ground seemed to resolve it though so no biggie
  16. a slightly scarey problem

    From the reviews I've seen Windows XP Media Edition (the first release) was very..shoddy, even by Microsoft standards. Would suggest checking the Knowledge Base at the Microsoft site to see if this is a known problem.

  18. Avoiding Monsters while harvesting

    Just curious what the auto attack levels are for the higher level mobsters - planning on resetting in a couple of months to get rid of the MM perk and a couple of poor nexus choices so I'm curious as to what a/d level will see me safe mining rubys in Vermor Castle for instance?

    Great idea Eldoor but unfortunately not a new one. This has been suggested time and again, by myself as well. When I posted it about 4 months ago one of the replies I received implied that the update would contain something like this. While it hasn't arrived yet I continue to hope

    I had the same problem with one of the test clients Rhazz - try deleting the EL folder in the Programs Files directory and then re-installing. It shouldn't work, but did for me

    Anyone who wants a good game with a more PK slant should try out Another Life. Personally I intensely dislike the idea of all of EL becoming PK without there being a check on that kind of playing - just as in medevil times, if the PK'ers were caught that they would be hung (char deaded for a period of time - a game week for instance) . Sad to say but as long as there are no repercusions for wanton PK'ing the baser instincts will prevail and EL would be a very unpleasent game to be a newbie or a maker char in.
