    Thanks to the ingenuity of our contest designers, there's been contests of all types that incorporate different kinds of strategy, targeted to different skills. This one is different.

     

    ANNOUNCING an ALL AROUNDER CONTEST

     

    I'm not going to limit to specific levels and above.

    HOWEVER.

    To do well in this contest you will want to have decent levels (30+ and knowledge!) in

    Alchemy, Potions, Manufacturing, and Crafting

     

    It is finally time for those with the perseverance and dedication to level all the mixing skills to be rewarded.

     

    Put on your thinking caps, get that next level or two.

    This will test your problem solving skills as well as your mixing.

     

    We have a lot of planning and preparation to do, the time and date will be announced as the event approaches.

     

    The prizes will be well worth the effort!!

    Unfortunately, the contest will be limited to certain number of contestants. We will try for ten slots. when the date and time is set, slots will be filled in order of original posting, if the player is available to compete at that time. We will also have a couple of alternate spots in case a person isn't on at the time of the contest.

     

    Prize list so far (winners will be able to choose in order of placement)

     

    100k gc

    20 USD to spend in EL shop

    Potioner Pack - 2k vials + 2k wine + 2k blue quartz + 4k blue stars

    Manuer Pack - 1k steel bars, 1500 leather + 3k thread

    Crafter Pack - 1k sanders, 1k raw saps, 2k water ess,

    Alcher Pack - 8k gold ore, 8k silver ore, 6k coal

    Fighter Pack - 100 aug torso, 100 aug pants, 100 leather boots, 10 steel shields

    Rounder Pack - 2k feasting pots

     

    **Edit: while prize packs have been decided on, they are not yet complete. Date and time of event will be posted after we get the prize packs done and pulled together lol**

    Not to dismiss the interesting discussion on the big companies and whatnot...

    but.. only a couple more days left!!

    Once again, I'd like to take a min and say THANK YOU 0ct!

    For taking the time and devotion to do this event,

    For taking the time to organize the in game aspect, which I'm sure has brought more attention to it,

    For CARING!

    The inspiration part comes in due to the fact that she was a young, single mom raising three kids on her own, destitute and dependant on social services to barely get by, and she came up with an idea 17 years ago, that has now made her one of the most wealthy women in the world.

    She didn't wallow in poverty and allow the system to support her, she had a dream, and worked for it, and made it happen.

    I promise, you are aggravating the **** out of teh powers that be.

     

    Which is just NOT smart.

    When I started playing over two years ago, I did a silly thing... I actually read the main EL page. When I realized the complexity came hand in hand with freedom, I was enthralled. I wanted to learn more about how to live and learn in this world.... so I did an odd little thing... I READ. I searched. I was on dial up at the time, so during my 6 hour download (yes, thats what it was back then) I was reading every bit of everything I could find online about EL. Once in game, I found the encyclopedia. Back then there wasn't any 'Newbie FAQ' or intro to skills sections in there. The tutorial NPC didn't heal. I paid attention to what others were saying, I read, and I applied what I learned to my gameplay.

    I probly didn't 'say' a word to anyone until I'd been playing for a solid week or more and knew enough to not seem the newb I was.

     

    When I get asked for help, I instruct the newbie to the in game manual, and to the el-cel site, with the advice that nearly every question they have will be answered in one of those two places. If they continue n00b-like behavior, they are written off as the n00bs they are acting.

     

    When my children wanted to play as well, they were given very strict instructions. I made sure they understood the rules, they understood how EL worked, and beyond all else, their EL lives are still under 'mom' power. When a 9 year old can play, chat, interact with friends, and learn to solve new character development problems on her own, using the tools provided, in my mind EL does *not* need to bend over backwards to cater to those that want and demand more.
