  1. This is probably one of my top two or three complaints about EL. Switching between spells should not be anywhere near as difficult as it is. This gives a big advantage to people who are younger and more agile. Rather then shortcut keys though I'd suggest being able to have three or four spell slots that could be quickly switched between via mouse clicks. Adding this to the spell window would seem reasonably straight forward.
  2. Storage GUI

    RIght, who cares if some other system uses it? If the method doesn't suck then learn from others and make use of it. If Apple had excluded previously used solutions then MacOS would have been very different indeed as Xerox had already come up with windowing back in the late 70's.
  3. Pp Reset

    I'd say no until there is an official "production" release. At that point it would be nice if some % of pp's would be returned to long time players. This would be a nice thank you for people who have spent a lot of time testing, playing and making suggestions while EL is in development. I agree though that doing it now would just lead to people asking all the time for it to be done again as additional features are added.

    I just want to be able to attack something without having to be close enough to see its nose hairs.
  5. I like the idea of scrolls. I think they should take EP to case though. Otherwise you could wind up with game balance problems.

    I don't think a short range random teleport to range is the answer. Offhand I can certainly think of ways to "abuse" that. Which is why I suggested that "#beam me" be changed to take people some place safe but undesirable. IE, far away from anything useful. That way you still have a safety valve, but there is little or no upside to it other then being able to get out of situations where you would be trapped otherwise.
  7. Random Harvest Events

    6450 is just under my current maximum exps for 120 diamond harvests. And while blessings aren't common they aren't all that rare. I suspect I could get at least one an hour if I harvested all the time. Meaning this would double my hourly rate. I'm all for somehow increasing the amount of exps high level harvest types can get but this just seems like a bad choice. I already spend the first ten to fifteen minutes of every hours I'm on harvesting. Put this in place and I'd be there the whole time.

    I don't see the issue with looking for good ideas in other games. This is basically how advances occur.

    The problem with rings is that they are single use. It just doesn't parse with most people, along with the fact that they can't be worn. Make them tokens rather then rings and the whole perceptual disconnect goes away...

    One possible compromise would be to have the #beam me take you some place a lot less useful then IP near the wraith... If not for the gargs at night then I'd suggest some place in the NE quarter of the WSC map.

    I agree that Bots are not the problem. The economic issues in EL are far deeper and more complicated then that. My experience has generally been that bots are more expensive then people. Since the server allows for scaming though I prefer to deal with robots and will pay the extra money to know I'm actually going to get what I pay for.

    Just a note, freedom of speach applies to the US government and what it can and can't do in terms of restricting what people say in the USA. It has nothing to do with an Internet message board. It constantly amazes me that people seem to be unaware of this fairly basic bit of information.

    On the wraith, I like the idea of splitting him up into multiple NPC's, one of which would be a polished up version of the current wraith. One #beam me, if it gets removed then I think there really needs to be some automated way for people who get stuck to escape. Maybe a short random teleport? Or a set beam point on each map that isn't anywhere near anything useful? Otherwise moderators are going to spend a fair amount of time extracting people who have been trapped at storage or harvesting, etc.

    Maybe its in my head as well but I've noticed that good and bad events seem to cluster. Though thinking about how many events are being serviced at any particular time makes me lean in the direction of saying it is in my head. I don't know how many events that require random numbers are going on at any particular time though. If we're talking hundreds a second then it is certainly my imagination because no random number generator could be that bad.
  16. I did a quick search and didn't find anything like this. Apologies though if it is in fact a repeat. I think it would be cool if manu'd items had the name of the character who made them. Kind of like a brand. They would of course be identical regardless of who made them. Just a thought. I can see some potential problems on the server/storage side but it sure would add a bit of personality to the game in my opinion.

    Yeah, I kind of suspected. Though I've thought of a variant. Have a small chance of an enhanced item. These are slightly better then their normal versions and have the creators name attached as part of the label. Still would likely require major changes on the server side though.

    I'd love to see this as well. Shouldn't be too tough to do either. If I didn't suck at C I'd take a stab at it myself.

  20. Another try at getting the market right

    The problem with the EL economy (If there is one) is that on the one hand you have to make billions of items to advance in skill levels. While on the other there are way to few people to buy them. In fact it isn't clear to me that there could ever be enough consumers to deal with the supply. Which is why I tend to see deflation rather then inflation and why I don't see that changing regardless of how many people join in the future. Of course I could just be totally wrong. Wouldn't be the first time today.

    Well, speaking from my limited experience (Maybe a dozen deaths) I'd say I get my stuff back at best 50% of the time when I die. Which is the main reason I try really really hard not to die of course.
