I agree, if there is no challenge in a game it's boring. I think a lot of criticizers of ore spawns just fear that harvesting would get back a basic flaw that is ubiquitous in EL: repetition. Because EL does not include any task or enough challenges to spend a good part of your time on them it is common to choose "achieving" as a task. And because gaining wealth, experience, or whatever is done easiest by repeating actions that provide best results, for many players EL involves a lot of repetition. And repetition causes boredom, so you try do do something else but to do new things you need money and experience ... got the point? When I started playing this game, very soon the only interesting thing remaining was meeting new people and participating in game events. If anyone has an idea how to get rid of a little repetition easily, I am sure that everyone will welcome him (or her). I am sorry, I only have an idea of a complex solution: continuous medium-term changes. For instance, one day a vein will run out, and it will run out forever, so you will have to drive new tunnels. And when a cavern wall collapses, falling stones will overwhelm existing veins and tunnels. Houses will burn down and new houses will be built. Monsters will conquer new habitats and players will recapture others from them. Desasters will change appearance of Seridia significantly. And more of these things. I know that actually implementing parts of this would have a lot of issues. However, if you are interested I am going to tell you my ideas how to spot quite some of them in an easy and straight manner in a new thread in the appropriate forum. Don't drop it. It doesn't hurt, but there are poeple that use it sometimes If you need more space in the options window please seperate resolution and color depth. The "non-critical" windows could be combined into a tabbed one. That would be an already familar behavior to the users, so probably easier to understand than a second pop-up quickbar. I wish you were forced to use this machine for a week. You sometimes just dont know: has my click been recognized? You wait 2,3,5 seconds. And then you click again. Server complains. You may not care about it, but reading that message again and again really hurts me stupid little piece of shit. Actually pointless is this insulting message. Nobody that is trying to cheat will ever be reading it, and even if so just smile and try another exploit. Now come on, tell me that its my fault that I am manufacturing, although I didnt say anything about manufacturing and this happens when using storage. I am looking forward to being told that I should not use storage. Or that I should buy a new computer. Beat me. I am in the right mood to flame ... Lachesis

Well, two things: people wont harvest 4 ore a minute but rather 12-20. Unless you seriously increase the delay again, which I would not encourage, as the search for the veins should replace the delay. Second: huge veins will keep everything as it is now: boring auto-harvest. Veins should be of a carefully chosen size, large enough so that you dont spend too much time on searching and multiple players can harvest from one vein, but small enough so that you won't get all the ore that you need from one harvest. I know that's not realistic, but it's less boring and economically more sensible. That's why I think veins should not be smaller than 20 and not be greater than 100 units, restoring 1-3 units per minute. With regards Lachesis

What I was trying to say is: players not only choose opposite gender characters because they want to play a role. Please read again Leeloo's post. Maybe they just want to get more gifts or are tired of annoying PMs. There might be even more such pragmatical rules. Don't disregard them please. They might be quite interesting as well. Well, a black background does not necessarily mean that messages are not displayed. I have a very poor machine and I would like that feature a lot, as every good place for manufacturing is crowded (ore veins as well as storages), causing a lot of lag and serious fps drop. A black background would help a lot reducing this. You may even keep rendering turned on but only render the names , health bars and mat. point labels (if turned on). That way you can combine advantages of current practice and the proposed feature without having to deal with any of the disadvantages. And this should be very easy to implement. Btw, I would also like a switch to turn of local chat It can be very annoying on crowded places when you are talking in a channel, sending pm or gm. Sincerely yours Lachesis

I would really like it :-) It should be as worthful as the perk is, of course, because it is essentially equivalent except that you would not need pickpoints. That is an interesting point. But you only considered the role players. I believe that the pragmatical reasons Leeloo stated are even more important.

Well still, I dont think that EL the proxy/firewall will mistake EL protocol for any of HTTP, POP, IMAP or SMTP. But maybe your firewall settings are to restricting and don't let you connect. Check if your host is allowed to send DNS requests (via UDP on port I am going to look up the number) and to connect to a host anywhere in the internet on port 2000 via TCP.
