The summoning table on the web site needs to show the amout of ethereal points required. It would be nice if it also showed exp awarded.

By the way, at the west road out of Kilarean Field around 17, 45 you can see off the edge of the map, apparently.

Necromancer sounds like a class, not a race. Eternal Lands is a classless game. Anyone can cast spells and summon stuff (maybe eventually skeletons - right now animals at least).

Just finished some business with William (storage in Portland) and his "Come back again" message was slightly garbled. The yellow text said followed by about 3 nonsense character. Yup, the "C" at the beginning was missing. Just to double-check, I went back and it now says . I'm running the CVS version recently downloaded: 0.9.5p1 Beta under Linux running under gdb.l

Today's CVS download does not show the problem. Thanks.

I just noticed that the web page has a few things to be corrected. The following items are listed with weights in points and it should be EMU: - Shields (all of them) - Swords (all of them) - Staffs (both) - War Hammers (both) - Medallions (all) Gloves are listed without weights. According to my notes, they should be: Leather Gloves, Enhanced Leather Gloves: 2 EMU Chain Gloves, Steel Gloves: 3 EMU Essences are listed without weights. According to my notes, they are all 1 EMU. Potions are listed without weights. According to my notes, they are all 1 EMU. Metal Ingots are listed without weights. According to my notes, they should be: Iron Bar, Steel Bar, Silver Bar: 2 EMU Gold Bar: 3 EMU Titanium Bar: 1 EMU Fur Clothing is listed without weights. According to my notes, they should be: Warm Fur Gloves: 1 EMU Fox Scarf, Fur Hat: 2 EMU Fur Cloak: 4 EMU Bone Powder (a Misc Item) is listed without a weight. According to my notes, iit should be 1 EMU. The Empty Vial got dropped when the new web pages were built. If you decide to add it, it could be added to Misc Items with a weight of 1 EMU. The spelling of "Mortor & Pedstle" in the game has been corrected to "Mortar & Pestle" so it should be corrected on the web site. It is used on the potions page and the Misc Items page.

although the Corpus Opis guild web address is missing the "http://" so the web link doesn't work.

Linux (Slackware 9.0). Like I say, the regular version looks good, only the CVS version shows the extra text. I didn't change the compile options, so whatever is in the Makefile is what I used. Maybe I should take this opportunity to learn something about gdb and dig into it myself.
-
If you read the web site (items section), you would find that bone powder is used to make some kinds of potions.

I switched back to the regular version instead of the CVS version and it doesn't do this. On the regular version, the goodbye text for the NPCs only appears at the top of the dialog box in green, not also in the center of the dialog box in yellow where the problem I noticed occurred.

As I understand it, you get defense exp when the monster attacks you and misses. If your weapon is too good, the monster doesn't get enough attacks on you because they die too fast. I'm not sure how your armor affects your defense exp, but I suspect the higher your Armor rating, the less defense exp you get (or the less likely you are to get defense exp).
-
What equipment are you wearing? Some equipment reduces your exp. If the gobs are too easy for you, you might need to go up to skeletons in order to get exp.

SIrdan, when I started playing, a beginning character had starting attributes of 0 instead of 3 and was extemely feeble compared to a rabbit. I'm pretty sure the first dozen times I fought a rabbit I died without hitting it once. Leeloo, maybe the lumberjack clothing isn't such a good idea - wouldn't the high heels throw off all the models?

Questions and Ideas for the Skill Manu
Puntif replied to Mickey's topic in Suggestions - General, Misc.
I think my suggestion for harvesting wool may have been on the old forum. You have to harvest the wool from a sheep, of course. I guess you would have to "use" your shears and select a sheep as the target (the same way some spells require a target to be selected). Then you can manufacture wool cloth to make things with. Cotton or flax could be harvested also to make thread and cloth. Adding dyes for color might make manufacturing clothing pretty complicated considering the number of combinations of items there might be. -
Yeah - those too.

You do know rthat the web site features a "Players Online" page showing which characters are currently online?

This is the second time lately I've gotten a segmentation fault. I'm running Linux Slackware 9.0. The error_log.txt file is empty. It's a laptop with ATI Radeon. glinfo reports: Mesa DRI R200 20020827 AGP 1x x86/MMX/SSE NO-TCL Tungsten Graphics, Inc. 1.2 Mesa 4.0.4 .... Maybe I'll see if a CVS download will compile this time.

Can't help you there - I'm running with sound off. Actually, I've never tried sound in EL - I guess I ought to try it sometime. Where did I put the headphones?

What operating system are you using? What zip/unzip program did you try to use? After the downloaded file is unzipped, you have to run the executable program that came out of the zipfile. For Windows, it's el.exe; for Linux, it's el.x86.linux.bin, but first you must mark it executable with something like chmod 775 el.x86.linux.bin .

OK, I got OpenAL from their cvs (per their web site) and got everything compiled. So far, no more crashes. I'm running under gdb in case of more trouble.
-
Oooh - we need plaid shirts!
-
Now I just need to find OpenAL so I can get the CVS version to compile . . . .
